Tiny Little Dog…

This happened around the whole fish saga…. Just didn’t want to confuse anyone with other things. Anyway… before we head off to the pet store my oldest tells me that she wants a dog. Uggh. We got rid of the dog last year when we moved to the town house… Well let me correct that. I got rid of the dog last year… hmmm… still doesn’t sound right… OK, I dumped my dog at the pound and sentenced her to definite death. Yeah that’s it. Yes I do still have some guilt about all that, why do you ask? Anyway, I take a deep breath and explain that we already have 2 cats and some fish, we don’t need a dog, nor can we have a dog in the town house… and I had to mention that we already HAD a dog that we got rid of (hoping that would not prompt yet another discussion of where Foxy is now {dead} and how she misses her, yadda, yadda, yadda). She persists, I don’t feel like continuing this. Finally she says “How bout a little dog?” and holds up her fingers just about an inch apart, to which I reply “OK, if you can find a little dog that size, then we will get it.” Great, fine, not going to happen, argument over. When we get to the pet store (avoiding the Free Kittens box in the parking lot) she asks right away to see the dogs – I ignore her and go get my fish stuff. She persists the whole time asking when we can go see the dogs. She’s briefly side tracked by some cats in cages – oh bad for me.. I love cats and two of them were beautiful orange tabbies (my favorite), but I resist and distract her from the cats by asking her to help me find food and a toy for our own cats (who would not appreciate a new feline in the house…. In fact I think they would attempt to murder me if I did infact bring a new cat home… and hell this house only has room enough for one homicidal pet… who happens to bed dead now… so… I guess that’s not really and argument any more… hmmm… ) We head off to the check out, she is very unhappy that we haven’t gone to see dogs yet, but there isn’t any dogs in the store for sale – so I think “Whew – I’m out of that one!” But no – I just think I am. As we are heading for the line, in come two women with a basket and three Yorkie dogs in the basket, each one of the women is holding a tiny little Yorkie puppy! AHHHHHHHHHH! NO! Tiny Little Dogs! Damn it. So I let her go see the dogs and tell her that the ladies took the last of the tiny little dogs. Cosmic joke on me.
L had the coolest comment regarding Spike:

J, I am sorry to hear about Spike. (For those not in the know, Spike is a homicidal, vaguely hermaphroditic fish who has been getting it on with the other fish in the tank in a mindless quest to breed, occasionally murdering the other fish, and sadly, died herself last night). What can I say, J? Eros and Thanatos. Sex and Death. Maybe she got ahold of some bad fish food.

Eros and Thanatos... I think that sums up Spike's life pretty well.

I don’t know, maybe I killed them intentionally subconsciously… maybe I just got pissy thinking that my stupid fish was having a better sex life than I am. Jealousy! If I’m not getting any, then those damn fish aren’t either. Heheehehehe… Yeah I know.. I need help. ;o)
Details Of The Horrible Accident

I woke Sunday morning as usual, 4 or so smacks on the snooze button before I crawled out of bed to get ready for work. I was in great spirits; it looked like a really short day at work. I turned on the computer to check my e-mail (as I do every morning) then I walked to the kitchen to take my vitamins and crazy pills. I looked into the small tank and to my utter shock and horror Spike was laying motionless on the bottom of the tank and her boyfriend was floating on his side at the top of the tank. They both were dead! Dead I tell you! I looked around for any hint of foul play and saw none. I trembled with fear. Who would kill two simple goldfish? And… would I be next? I…. OK, that didn’t happen. I saw the fish, I said, “Shit! My fish are dead.” And I discarded above-mentioned fished into trash and emptied the small tank. I made sure the two fish corpses were covered in the trash so the kids wouldn’t see them then feel compelled to play with them (ewwwwww!!) or worse for one of the cats to find them and drag them out for a snack (fish parts on the floor – oh nasty!) Off to work I went. I was a bit disappointed that Spike was gone. I had that freaking fish for a year and a half! Some how she survived my utter and complete ignorance to fish care and my horrible neglect for about 6 months – at that point I decided that if she could tough out all that, I might as well put a little effort into owning a fish… I changed the water more often. And now a mere month into my big plunge into aquarium owning (I decided that a 3 inch fish was probably too big for a tank that held less than a gallon of water), Spike is gone. She was a interesting fish. Somewhat homicidal, always evil, mostly temperamental. I’m going to miss that evil little fish. * Sniff* * Sniff* A moment of silence please…. OK, I’m done… enough grieving.

After work - Off to the pet store! I had planned to go to Pet Smart even before the fish kill incident, now I had even more reason to go – Replacement fish!!!

Went right to the goldfish section and selected two fancy gold fish - a red and white ryukin and a calico fantail. I also bought one little comet goldfish. Then off to get a new filter (bigger, better, more powerful) and a bubble tube and a tank cleaner thing. I also bought some other things in the store – but they aren’t pertinent to this story. ;o)

Sooooo… I go home, clean out the fish tank thoroughly, set up the new things in the tank and drop in the new fish. Ahhh life is food. Valkerie and Thor (the red and white and the calico) seem to like it well enough. All of the fish LOVE the bubble wall. They are so funny, they will go to the bubble wand and get in the bubble stream and ride it up to the surface. Hehehehehe… they will do that over and over. It’s very funny, kind of like a carnival ride for them.

Damn it! I suck!

Fuck. I sucks so much. I have inadvertently killed Spike! (and her boyfriend) Damn it! My beloved evil homicidal bitchy fish is dead!

I read up on the internet about goldfish who were breeding. Several suggested moving the breeding fish to another tank so they can hit it in the privacy of a different tank (really to keep the big tank from getting all full of eggs - also if I did decide I wanted the trouble of raising the fry then I wouldn't have to worry about the big fish eating them). I had already notice some eggs in the big tank so I figured they could finish in the little tank. I prepare the tank as recommended and move the two into it at about 11 pm. I figured that by morning they would be done and I could move them back. Well they were done... as in done for. Dead as doornails. DAMN IT! After all the shit that fucking fish has gone through, to die in a nice clean tank is a real pisser for me. Oh well.... I chucked them in the trash this morning. I am going to get replacements later today.

I'll write a memorial to Spike a bit later.

OK, had to do another stupid quiz... couldn't help myself on this one. I like it... I knew I would be... it's one of my favorite fairy tales - I like the whole really long beautiful hair... it's so me.

All A Blur

It's the end of the week... even the end of Friday. I feel as though all the days have blurred together. I know I did things on different days, but it seems like everything happend today and it wasn't all that eventful of a day. I really hate when I get this feeling. Not quiet deja vu', but similar.

Towards the middle of the week, I remember feeling excited about something. All fired up and full of energy. Now I have no fucking clue why. Maybe I was on amphetimenes (just kidding), maybe I was drinking too much Coke that day (honestly), maybe I was on a day long sugar high from eating all the kids Easter candy (probably). I don't know. But now.. I feel... well... BORED. Shit I need a life. I did laundry today. Woohoo. Tomorrow I go to work - yippiee ding. Apathetic... that's what it is. Damn it sucks. I did get my pay check today - that's cool. And hubby has a lead on a job. He had an interview that went very well today. Praying it happens!

Our tax refund arrived - damn I love e-fileing. Hubby bought some movies for us. Toy Story (wanted to get that before it went to the vault), My Big Fat Greek Wedding, The Wild Thornberrys Movie (he knows I love that) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (he loves that movie). Next week we'll get the car fixed the rest of the way (radiator and cooling fan need to be fixed). YAY for income tax money! Yay for tax deductable donations!

eh... I'm still bored... I think I'll go bore myself to sleep....

What? Are you still here? Go on, I can see you yawn.
Wow... Is It Friday Already?

This week has flown by. I've been busy too. Sewing some pretty dresses for my girls. Summer will be here soon and Super Girl needs some summer clothes. She's gotten to where she only wants to wear dresses - this is a turn around from the tom boy she has been so I'm happy, happy, happy to make her dresses. Yesterday I made her a pretty ballet skirt. She has been wanting one. I made ribbon roses to go on it. It's so damn cute! I think I want one for myself! I'm going to make a matching one for Cabage Patch. Little girls are so damn cute! :o)

Today I had my 'inspection' . It went well, as usual. Hopefully all this crap will be done in a couple of weeks. I am quite tired of feeling like I'm living my life under a microscope.

Hubby has a lead on a job - YAY! One of the employment agencies was really impressed with his skills and asked him to come in today to finish his testing and to discuss a permanent position. It would be making quite a bit less than he was, but that's still quite a bit more than unemployment! He'll keep looking for something making more though. Tough job market right now.

Anyway... more of my boreing life later... it's almost nap time now. YAY!!!!!!

Comedians....

I'm sitting here with Comedy Central on while I waste time before I head off to bed. Just waiting for this medicine to take care of this fucking sinus headache. Damn. I really should just give up on that damn over the counter shit and go straight to hard liquor. It might not take care of the sinus issues but I won't notice the pain and it would probably work a shit load faster than the OTC medicine. Anyway, on the television. I've noticed an odd trend. Most comedians on today are either women or they are gay (many of the women are lesbians, I might add). Why is that? I know in times past it seemed that most comedians were Jewish, now it seems that they are gay. I don't know why it is. I mean is there some sort of union that comedians are part of that make arbitrary rules for admittance to the union. This decade is Woman and Gays decade, the last one was Minority decade, the one before that was Jewish decade.... It's not that I'm complaining, I laugh at what ever is funny, so I really don't care, it's just an odd trend. eh, off to bed... head hurts...
Fish Saga - Continued.... Reason For Homicidal Tendencies Discovered...

I think I have finally discovered why Spike was killing other fish. (oh and by the way, the one fish which was all beat up by Spike is recovering quite nicely, and it appears that he has his dorsal fin back) I did a little reasearch into goldfish when all the agressive behavior was going on. I wondered if maybe it was an issue of Spike attacking a female fish or something. All the sites I consulted said basically the same thing that males developed white (or light colored) spots on their gill plates. Well the two new fish that ended up getting the shit beat out of them (one died) had black spots on their gillplates - just one one each side of their head. So I figured that might not be the issue. I did more reading and watched the fish more. I noticed the new fish (the surviving one) would start harrasing Spike when Spike was in the plants or near the side of the tank, and Spike would get all pissed and nip that fish. So I figured that fish was just asking for an ass kicking. But I also started to wonder if Spike was a female... Males will pursue a female quite agressively (kind of like some men in clubs) - so much so that they can injure her or kill her by driving her to the point of death from exhaustion. Hmmm... I watched.... The black spots on the other fish have gone away and he no longer harasses Spike. Hmmmm... Spike... is ... a.... GIRL! Well that makes the two homicides that have happend in this tank justifiable. I mean I've felt like killing some unrelenting men from clubs before, she was just taking care of unwanted advances. Maybe I should have done that back in my club days. ;o) there are no plans to change Spikes name, I think Spike fits her even better now that I know she's a really bitchy girl fish. I will however be watching the other fish for signs of obnoxious male behavior, and when it does happen (black spots and all) they will be put in the small tank until their sexual urges have passed - it's for their own protection after all - that and I DO NOT want baby fish.
L - hair issues... seems like the story of my life. My hubby just found me a new hair dresser - he did some hypnosis for this guy and in exchange I will get my hair cut. I'm excited but nervous, I'm very very particular about my hair and who cuts it. I prefer a very gay, even flamboyant hairdresser. I will NOT go to a woman hairdresser - EVER. Women suck as hairdressers. Besides, women are catty and tend to see other women as competition and therefore will not make a woman's hair look better than their own. Wonderful hair fairys do magic. Women are people who are there to create art on and make look fabulous - because if we look fabulous, then it reflects on them. Anyway - enough of that. The only way I have EVER EVER been able to get nice straight shiny hair as been with LOTS of straightener and a spray in laminator, then blow dry with a large round (metal) hair brush. It takes forever and the bathroom gets all hot, but it looks nice. I know people who swear by the electric hair straighteners, but only the ones you buy from the beauty supply places. I am curious but not sure I want to spend $20 or $30 for something that may be to hard to use or not work at all or worse damage the hell out of my hair. Anyway - that's my $.02
L- hehehehe... I love the plumber skit. As I remember it, it was a cartoon skit on Sesame St. or Electric Co. (I think Electric Co.). The plumber knocks on the door and hears "who is it?" to which he replies "It's the plumber, I've come to fix the sink." the reply he hears is "Who is it?" and he repeats "It's the plumber, I've come to fix the sink." At some point it cuts over so the viewer can see who is asking "Who is it?" - a parrot in an otherwise empty house. The gag continues until the plumber is on his knees yelling "It's the plumber! I've come to fix the sink!!" For some reason, I have always loved that skit.

A - you have to stop compairing the size of the baby to items. I have this strange image of visiting you in the hospital to see the new baby and there in a blanket is a bananna with a diaper on. hehehehe...

It's The Plumber! I've Come To Fix The Sink!

Friday night while hubby was out, Super Girl was hard to get to bed, at one point she snuck out of her room and was playing in the bathroom upstairs. She was putting cat litter in the sink. Said action caused the sink to clog up. That scoopable cat litter is great for the litter box, but not so great in the sink pipes. Hubby had attempted to clear the pipe with the plunger, and with some Draino. No luck. He suggested we go to Wal-Mart and get a snake thing to clear the drain. I told him to try using a wire coat hanger unbent. So he tried but didn't have too much luck, I finished writing a letter and headed up the stairs to see how it was going. I saw the error in his method right away. I suggested making a hook at the end of the wire. Then I shoved it down the drain. I pulled it out and had quite a bit of muck. So I continued doing this for about 10 minutes until I had the drain cleared. Hubby had helped by removing the stopper thing, so I give him credit for fixing the sink also. It works and apparently I have the qualifications to start my apprecticeship with a plumber! I just need to wear pants that show my butt crack and I'm all set! (Hubby did the crack thing this morning... he showed enough crack for both of us!)
Riding A Burrito...

Today after fixing the sink (more on that in a bit), as a reward for my exquisite plumbing skills we headed off to Chipotle for lunch. Hubby had mentioned how he was curious to try it, and I was hungry so we grabbed the kids and headed off. It wasn't what I expected it to be. I thought it would be a typical Tex-Mex restraunt. But it wasn't exactly. They only make Tacos and Burritos, and you can get them any way you want. With pork, spicy beef, grilled chicken or vegitarian. You can get your burrito regular or in a bowl, with rice or with lettuce. And you can get chips also, with salsa or with guacamole. I seated the little people at the table while hubby stood in line, I told him I wanted the burrito in a bowl (I just couldn't order a regular burrito after that billboard... too many unacceptable images came to mind) - wanted lettuce not rice, and make it beef. Get tacos for the little people. So hubby shows up with my food, burrito in a bowl - chicken not beef, rice not lettuce - but it was good. Super Girl was having an attack of brat-itis. she would not eat her lunch (it didn't come on a bun, have a side of fries or a toy and wasn't served at a place with a playground attached - it wasn't food to her), Cabbage Patch ate some of her chicken taco, but she wasn't feeling well - she has mommy's SARS, poor baby. Hubby was brave and rode the burrito (yeah, right there in public even! Damn! Gay men will do anything won't they!) He had the beef - medium spicy. he said it was really good, but spicier then he expected. So, all in all the grown ups rated the place highly and the kids were unempressed. ;o)
L - OMG! That is so damn funny. I do love South Park. I didn't get to see that one all the way through. I was watching it but got a phone call and didn't see the way it ended. Must see it...
Bizarre Billboard Ad...

So I'm driving home from... well that's not really important.. anyway I see a billboard for Chipotle restaraunt - it says "Burritos so big you'll want to ride them." What? That doesn't make any sense and certainly does NOT make me want to EAT one. Made me think of strange and disturbing things that I really should not think about.... ahhhh... that reminds me.. need to take my crazy pills.

Ahhhh The Joy Of Having Kids...

People who don't have kids or who's kids have not yet reached potty training age don't know about this phenomenon. Just a moment ago, Super Girl says from the bathroom "Daddy, I need your help." hehehehehe... I laugh because I know what that means. Butt wiping duty! HAHAHAHAHAHA! I had warned hubby of this as she approached potty training age (I had a preview of this with my cousin when she was 4).

(later...)
Super Girl informed us that her sister was 'poopy'. We asked Cabbage Patch if she was infact 'poopy' and she said 'No!' After a quick diaper check, I discovered that she was indeed 'poopy', so I asked Super Girl how she knew that her sister was 'poopy' and she said "Because she look like she have a marshmellow in her diaper." All I could do was laugh.
Author Blurbs

Last night after the Kosher wine buzz wore off, I was laying in bed doing some reading. On the jacket of the book is generally a blurb about the author, and it generally tells nothing at all about the author, usually mentions other writings that the author has done and includes the words 'critically aclaimed' and even 'award winning' if applicable. And they always end with a some what out of place sentence about where the author resides. I think that if I were to ever become an author (yeah that is a big if, as in IF the generally reading public's tastes dropped so low as to consider this dribble I write as something even close to literature that is) I would want my author blurb to be somewhat rediculous. Maybe read like this...

Judy is the critically aclaimed author of many rediculous blog entries about nothing of any substance or merit. Her interest include contemplating alien abductions in trailer parks and knitting tiny sweaters for mice from belly button lent. Judy lives in a constant state of confusion and occasionally vacations in Texas.

Now I'm off to work on my manifesto... I mean book... yeah book... that's what the voices said to call it..... book....
Being a parent, sometimes I say things that I can not even believe I am saying - say for instance this morning, I said

Super Girl, don't tie your baby to the stairs. We don't tie babies up, it's just wrong.

Then I have one of these flashes, kind of like a flash back, but it's more like a flash forward... maybe a warning of things to come or my maternal fears of what may happen. My daughter in her 20's the top Dom at a SMBD establishment tieing people up for fun. Hmmm... weird, but some how better than the flashes I had when she was younger and had a bad habit of stripping naked and a habit of rushing forward to do things with absolutly no fear. I had flashes of her in her 20's being a naked extreme sports star. That one still makes me shudder.
Passover Party!!

Passover went great, with a mimimum of whining and a maximum of WINE-ing. Hubby prepared for the Seder perfectly. And the meal.... mmmmmm... it was great. Super Girl was her usual picky self (ewwwww.... what's that? I'm not eating that. It looks ucky) and Cabbage Patch was her usual and ate what ever was in front of her - she even tried the horseradish! She just said 'Hot! Hot!' but kept eating it. She especially loved the matzo balls in the soup. By the end of the evening, after 4 (large) glasses of Kosher wine, hubby and I were both a bit tipsy. My favorite things was the desert. Yum yum yum. Who would have thought an unleavened cake would be so darn good. ;o) L'CHAIM!

The Common Cold

Damn... I'm sick again. With the all to common to me Common cold. I hate this. I've completly forgotten to send out Easter cards this year. Hubby was teasing me about being sick. Seems I always get sick over a holiday. I've had the flu/a cold/sore throat/strep for all the major holidays at least once. Heck I even got samonilla for vacation one year! Woohoo! (I still went on vacation even though I was in mysery most of the time). It's just not a holiday for me unless it includes Nyquil/Pepto/Imodium and me sleeping through most of it.
Passover

Tonight is Passover. I love Passover. I love cooking for Passover. I love celebrating the Seder. We've been preparing for this since last week. Last night we didn't get as much done as we needed to, I felt just awful. Hubby was kind enough to let me sleep for a long time today and he and the little people did much of the things that were to be completed last night. Now they are out, picking up lunch and the last of the things needed for tonight. I've started the roast lamb and the chicken soup (can't have passover with out Matzo ball soup!). I'm really looking forward to tonight. Super Girl is old enough now to participate and understand a little. Hubby has shortened the Haggada a bit so the little people don't get totally bored. AND I got a new Seder Plate! I ordered it off Ebay and got it on Monday - I was starting to worry that it would not be here in time.

I'm excited. Hubby's excited also - Super Girl thinks it a party - which it sort of is - She wants to wear her special dress tonight - it's pink satin, I'm not sure I'll let her, maybe on Friday if we go to church with D. I don't know if I'll be able to go to church on Sunday as I may be working. I think we might be getting together with the inlaws. I know the kids will have fun with their cousin. Going to be a busy week, but a fun one.

The Rewards Of Motherhood

My children have gifted me with something. In appreciation for all I do for them, the waffles for breakfast, the peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, the glasses of chocolate milk, the desert after dinner (even when they refuse to eat the dinner), the numerous toys that encroch on my living space, the closet bulging with cute clothing for them, the tears I dry, the diapers I change, the noses I wipe... and there in lies the issue.... the noses I wipe... My darling children have infected me with one of their infectious diseases. *sigh* I woke this morning... scratch that... I was awoken by them... and I discovered that I have a sore throat, a stuffy nose and generally feel not well. Great... the little people gave me a cold. Did I not JUST get over Anthrax (strep)??? Have I not suffered enough???? Will it EVER end???? Nevermind I know the answer to that. Enough for now, Must go suffer through another episode of Dora The Explorer while I lay on the couch and beg the little people to not distroy the house, kill each other, write on the walls, torture the cats or start a global war. *sigh*

Fish Saga

OK, I've had my big tank set up for about 2 weeks now. I added the fish after the tank had run a few days, and the very next day had to toss one. (ahhh let me take a moment to describe the adding of the fish incident. I had purchased 6 tiny gold fish and one tiny black fish from Wal-Mart. brought home my fish in a knotted plastic bag. I transferred Spike into the tank then I intended to transfer the new fish into the small tank and put them one by one into the big tank. I could not unknot the bag, I got a pair of scissors and cut the top of the bag... and the water splashed out all over, luckily most of the fish went into the small tank - I did a quick count - two had fallen on the floor, I quickly retrieved them from the floor before the cats discovered live kitty treats, then I just dumped the fish into the big tank, I had to clean up the floor and change my now wet clothes...) *sigh* Last week Super Girl decided the fish were hungry and fed them... and fed them... and fed them... there was fish food all over the bottom of the tank, the water got all murky - it was gross. I let it be for a couple of days in hopes that the filter would help out... well it didn't. Saturday I noticed that yet another of the fish was not doing so well. He was having trouble feeding and looked like he had been beat up. Dead fish swimming. Great... Super Girl had named this one Spot for the black spot on it's tail. I told hubby we needed to get gravel vacuum and a couple of new fish today after I finished work. Later I sent him and the little people off to procure these items. Cleaning the tank was just LOVELY. I have my 10-gallon tank on the bar between the living room and the kitchen. Where Spikes small tank was. I can not really reach to the bottom of the tank unless I am standing on something, like say the kitchen counter. I crawl up on the counter next to the sink, have hubby stand in the living room and we vacuum the tank together - I had the siphon end in the sink he had the vacuum end in the tank. We get it cleaner, and I clean the filter. In a couple of hours the water looks much better. The new fish that hubby had purchased are much bigger than the ones I purchased and they cost less also - but they are not as big as Spike. And Spike... well Spike does not like one of the new fish. I have noticed the top fin of one of the new fish looks nipped as well as his tail and he has a spot on him that looks like he really got smacked up. *sheesh* Spike is a bastard. He is trying to kill this new fish. I am convinced that he killed that other fish (the one from this weekend) and I know that he killed his former tank mates (though I was never able to prove it), now I think he may kill this new fish... who knows, he might kill the whole tank full of fish. Homicidal bastard fish.

Anyway, I have a new routine every morning. After I get up I count fish. Super Girl has yet to notice that 2 fish have gone on to the great fish tank in the sky - lucky for me goldfish pretty much look alike.
Hubby said that he saw something funny when he got home today, seems that we have A Pack of Wild Poodles in our neighborhood. He said he saw two poodles wandering around. hehehehe... ahhh the bizarre immages of poodle packs is quite funny.

Dry Erase Markers + Toddler + PreSchooler = Total Fucking Disaster

Hello, welcome to my world... Please have a seat, would you like a drink? Coke? Milk? Please don't mind me while I have something stronger... Would you like some Tequila also? No no don't worry about getting a glass, you can drink right from the bottle like me, the alcohol from the Tequila will kill any germs, and if not, drink enough and you won't give a shit.

So today is going pretty well, hubby let me sleep in, somehow convinced Super Girl to not wake me either, so I slept past 8 am! WOW! Got the kids dressed with minimal fussing and cleaned up the house in 45 minutes (plenty of threats to children to get them to help though) and shoved hubby out the door to go sign on with different temp agencies - damn he's got to get a job before I kill him. - I even got laundry started. So - I fed the little people lunch, my sister called, so we were chatting - it was 30 minutes until Cabbage Patch's nap time. The little people go upstairs to play in their room. about 10 minutes after they go up, I head up to check on them - they were indeed playing in their room, all was well. 10 minutes later I head back up to check on them. Both kids are in the bathroom, Cabbage Patch had a black dry erase marker from hubby's bedroom. She had marked on the sink, on the wall, on the linen closet door, on the wall in daddy's bedroom, on the carpet in daddy's bedroom, on the desk in daddy's bedroom, on the chair in daddy's bedroom, on her face, on her hands, on her legs and some marks on her pretty little white dress. Her sister, Super girl had some red marks on her face from the red dry erase marker. I took the little people down stairs to clean them up. Luckily the marker comes off baby skin easily with a baby wipe. I put Cabbage Patch down for her nap. I had a conversation with Super Girl about the marking incident, this is how it went.

ME: Did you see your sister marking on the wall?
Her: Yes.
ME: Why didn't you stop her or come get mommy?
Her: I duno.
ME: Super Girl, you are the big sister, you can't just let her do things like this. You have to stop her or get me.
Her: But I didn't do it!!!
ME: You had to do some, you have red marker all over your face.
Her: (surprised look on her face that I could figure our her involvement in the vandalization of daddy's room)
ME: You are no longer allowed to play upstairs without mommy or daddy.
Her: (resigned sigh)....(a moment later) Her look so funny, silly baby!
ME: Super Girl, it's not funny. Mommy has to clean it all up now. Go sit on the sofa.

I head upstairs to scrub the walls and the doors. Dry Erase markers are EVIL. They are even harder to clean than crayon! I scrubbed and scrubbed. I got off some of the marks. Will let hubby scrub later. He's going to be pissed. Who can blame him.

Sigh... now I need a drink. A big one.

A askes is marriage a mistake? Is it possible to find a modern day Charles Ingalls Wilder, or are those sorts of people long dead and/ or fictional?

I don't think marriage is a mistake. Marriage is great when two people want to be married to each other. The mistake is marrying the wrong person or being unprepared for marriage. Despite the one major issue in my marriage, I do not regret getting married, and I still enjoy being married. I hope that someday I will marry again (a straight man this time). And the other question... well I have no clue who Charles Ingalls Wilder is but I suspect he is some kind of far too perfect television character. No they don't exist. That's fantasy, which is great for a daydream, but not for real life. Real marriages that are great have two people who have similar goals and belief systems, want to be partners and caretakers for each other and of course they love each other. There are a lot more things that go into making a good marriage, attraction, compassion, kindness, understanding, communication... I worked with a woman at H&R Block, she had been married for 26 years. We were talking about our partners once, she mentioned how when her husband walked into the room she still got all tingly just seeing him - just like when she first met him, how she still thought he was incredibly sexy. This is what I want. Karen had the perfect marriage. Her husband thought she was the most wonderful woman on earth and she felt the same for him. Sadly her husband passed away from cancer a couple of months after we had that conversation. He had a very fast moving cancer, they didn't know he was sick until it was too late. Still, she was blessed to have had such a wonderful marriage.
Totally Fucking Inconsiderate

It's just after 1pm and the person I've been waiting on is still not here. No phone call or anything. Damn. This is so irritating. I have things to do, but don't want to be interupted in the middle of doing them. Like cleaning out my fish tank... Super Girl decided to feed the fish LOTS of food the other day, not the tank is murky. Laundry, I need to get caught up. Painting and sewing - I have some things I want to do. But all of these things I would prefer to not have a 30 minute interuption right in the middle of. Damn people.
A - I totally understand the party thing. I hate being invited to the home parties of any kind. I feel pressured to buy something even if I don't want ANYTHING. And most of the things offered at the home parties are SOOOOOO expensive. I do love the Pampered Chef things and am a total sucker for their stuff, so I stay far away from Pampered Chef parties. If the hostess of the party knows of your financial situation she probably engineered for you to win the door prize. Don't feel bad for not buying things you can't afford. My sister in law went to a Souther Living party not long ago and she ended up buying 2 cookbooks - rather expensive I might add - and the real kicker is that Vickie hardly EVER cooks. I think they would die of starvation if the microwave broke and all the fast food places closed. But she still bought 2 cookbooks - each about $30. I think these are the ONLY cookbooks she owns. Home parties make people do strange things.
The Crime Of Tardiness

I find excessive lateness in social situations to be a very annoying quality. If someone is waiting for you, you should make every effort to be on time. I also find excessive tardiness in business situations to be unforgivable. If I show up for say an interview that is scheduled for 2 pm, I expect to be in with the interviewer no later than 2:15 pm or 2:20 pm and I definitly expect to be acknowledge well before then. I bring this up because someone was supposed to be here at 10:30 am. It's almost 11:30 am and this person is NOT here and has not called. This is not a social call, this is a compliance issue am being ordered to do. Fine, no problem. I've made myself available for this person. But she's late, excessively so. And this is throwing off my schedule quite a bit. I've made cookies with the little people but I still need to finish my laundry, a chore I am putting off until she leaves. It's getting close to the little people's nap time as well... that is something I really do not want to push back at all. *sigh* so here I am, in a quandry as to what to do... soon I will need to make lunch for the little people and I hesitate to do so, as I don't want to have lunch mess around when she shows up. Anyway, I'm irritated by all of this. And not even a phone call to say that she would be late. Some people have no regard for others.
The First Step Is Acknowledging You Have A Problem this is a thought I had a bit back, just now have the time to finish it.

I recently read about someone who's mother suffered a serious mental breakdown. She was hospitalized for several weeks and put on medication. She's doing better now thanks to the medication and therapy, but changed. All of this gave me reason to pause. Mental illness runs in my family. Most of it undiagnosed, but my sister will back me up on this. Our mother lived in a constant state of depression, I honestly don't think I ever saw her truly happy. Our grandmother has more problems than I can possibly list off. Our family is the typically mentaly ill family, we cover for the ones with the biggest problems and hide any abnormality from the public eye. This also makes some of us reclusive as it was eaiser to not be around others so as to not have to cover for someone or explain their behavior. I remember my wedding, my biggest fear that day was not that something would hold up the ceremony, or I'd spill food on my dress or anything like that, I was terrified that my grandmother would cause some horrible scene infront of all of my friends and new inlaws. I know at my sisters wedding she had a similar fear as an uninvited relative felt compelled to make a surprised appearance. they are all so messed up, it's eaiser to stay away from them.

Why am I thinking of all of this? Well I've been on Zoloft for about 8 months. I was having stress induced anxiety attacks and depression - symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder. (I've always had problems with anxiety. I remember being 7 and having my first anxiety attack. I didn't tell anyone. I didn't know what it was, but I was well aquainted with my families issues and I knew it was best to just keep this to myself.) While I was taking antibiotics for strep I wasn't taking my Zoloft (for two reasons, both make me drowsy, I didn't want to compound that and I was vomiting at times so I didn't want to add extra medication to my already sick stomach). For a little over a week I didn't take it at all. Long enough for it to completly leave my system. Could I notice a difference? Yes, sadly I could. I noticed that I snapped at my husband and children more often. I notice some of the other symptoms that I had most of my life - I think it's called circular thinking - not being able to stop thinking about a traumatic or bad event, feelings of anxiety... I hate this. When my dr. perscribed the Zoloft she told me that it was only a temporary thing. That I wouldn't be on it forever. I was going through a tremendous amout of stress at the time and it helped so much, now most of that stress is gone, but I wonder if I'll be back where I started after I stop the Zoloft for good? I don't want that, I like the more peaceful Judy. But... I do feel as though some of the more passionate Judy has been dulled. I wonder if my art and creativity has suffered because of the medication, and if so, is it worth it? Please don't suggest counseling, I've done that for many years but never managed to feel like this with just counseling, infact every time I've been in counseling I've been told I should get on something, but never did. Now I wonder if I have tasted some kind of forbiden fruit. If I'm not to take this Zoloft forever, will I feel this peace without it? If not, then will I always wish for it? I honestly don't want to be tied to a pill bottle forever. Thankfully the Zoloft is not addictive. I want that peace, I want to quiet the disruptive thoughts, but I also want to feel that incredible passion for life. Part of me wishes I had never taken the Zoloft, that I would have done the usual, self destructive trying to tough it out alone - then I do wonder if I'd be much worse off mentally if I had. I hate admitting that I might have something that might be difficult to fix, that I have a seriously damaged psychie. I don't know that to do, continue taking the Zoloft or stop. I have a bit of time before I have to make the final decision... or should I say the decision is made for me. If hubby doesn't get a job, I may have not choice but to stop the medication. Anyway... I need to go to bed.

$10 To a Worthy Cause....

So hubby came in from checking the mail (yeah I know, it's in the middle of the freaking night). One of the things he brought in was a magazine that kind of highlights the comunity we live in. ON the cover was a hot hot hot firefighter - shirtless. Oh la la. I didn't read the article, I really couldn't get my eyes to focus on the words very long (more pictures of shirtless buff firefighters) - but just long enough to learn that these pictures of these hot hot men are in some kind of calendar that is being sold for $10 and all the proceeds go to charity of some kind, save the whales/kids/groundhogs.. I don't know, I don't care, I'll spend the $10 to look at this all year long... hell I might even use it for a couple of years. Actually I'm not even sure what year this is for - I don't care! I just want one (actually all of them - I have enough love to go around.)!! I just don't have a freaking clue as to where to get this calendar.... I guess I need to cover the pictures and read the words.... I will... really.... I will... later... ;o)
5 Weeks Of Nothing...

My husband is about to finish his 5th week of unemployment and no prospects in sight. I'm nervous. He does get unemployment benefits and I have started picking up extra days at work, but even with that our take home is still dreadfully short of what he was making. Not that he was making mega bucks but my job doesn't make much at all. I'm nervous and getting angry. It doesn't seem to me that he has been doing much to find a job. He didn't even get a news paper this week, and I don't know if he sent out resume's last week like I told him to. I'm very frustrated. When I was without work (this was before I was laid off from Nortel - when I got laid off from them, my plan was to stay home with my kids, so I wasn't looking then) I had the news paper every week, and every Monday I would mail off handfulls of resumes. I'd spend time calling and setting up appointments for interviews and I'd call head hunters and agencies. I don't see him doing any of this. I think maybe a few days in the beginning I saw him actively looking, but I haven't recently. Soon his severance will run out and there's no job prospect for him - that scares the hell out of me. I don't know if he's in denial about all this or if he just doesn't want to look. *sigh* I wonder if I was just being to opimistic by thinking he would have no problems finding a job. *sigh*
A - AAAAAHHHHHHH!!! YOU HAVE to tell what your having!!!! Don't leave me hanging!!!! hehehehe.... OK, OK, I know, it's YOUR secret and all... but I want to know... Actually I need to know... yes I do. Not just for MY personal sanity, but because I need to know so I can make some cute baby booties and little hat. Also, where are you going to have that baby?
3XThursday 4/10/2k3 : Sequential Art in Time - Judy's Answers Thanks to Jake for the questions (finally - something I can ANSWER!!!!)

1. What animated TV show or movie past or present do you totally love above all the rest. Why do you think that is?
I'd have to say it's The Wild Thornberrys. I identify with the main character Eliza. She loves animals, I love animals, she has red hair, I have red hair, she has glasses, I have glasses, she wears braces, I wear braces, she can talk to animals, I wish I could talk to animals.... Also it has a nice 'save the planet/save the animals' theme that really touches my heart. I've cried while watching this cartoon. I mean really really cried. The one about the African elephant just had me bawling, Super Girl kept asking "Why you crying momma?" I wish I could have grown up in that cartoon.

2. There are some animated shows that are such a dumb idea that I can't believe that people actually watch them or that studio executives actually put down money for these monstrosities. What animated TV shows really makes you want to change the channel and go wash your hands?
Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, JJ The Jet Plane (kids show), any Tom & Jerry from the 1980's, Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries.... I could go on and on, I watch way too many animated shows...

3. If you personally were going to be written in as a new character in an animated show what show would it be and how would you get along with the existing characters?
Well I'd like to be in either The Fairly Odd Parents as a whacky Fairy God Parent related to Cosmo who screws things up on a regular basis. Everyone would love me but absolutly dread me doing ANY magic at all. OR I'd like to be on Wild Thornberry's as a cool animal that befriends Eliza.

Bonus Question for Comments: Who is the sexiest animated character of all time and why?

Hmmm.. from animation I'd have to say Super Man from JLA. Come on, it's Super Man, you really have to ask? From the comics I read (yeah I'm such a GEEK) it would have to be Aquaman. So macho, so noble, so hot or the last Green Lantern - Kyle, he was drawn very well. ;o)

L - No no! don't change a thing! Your not being mean and evil - your being honest. Pearl does sound like a complete moron, probably very nice, but dumb as a rock. I highly doubt you are the first and ONLY person to come to that conclusion, nor will you be the LAST person to think that. And Mr. Red Hot Chili Pepper, chances are many of his work mates have contemplated homicide because of him. Your not a mean and evil bitch, just a completly HONEST bitch. ;o)

Which Cancer Causing Agent are you?

hehehehe... that is so me... I am the SUN!!! Yeah Baby! Come Feel My Heat! ;o)

L - You are right about people sabatoging themselves. I worked with a man who had a bad bad habit of talking very loudly. You could hear him all the way down the hall, when I was on the phone people could hear his phone conversations in the cube next to mine. As if that wasn't bad enough, he had a rather filthy mouth. He would swear all the time and tell dirty jokes. Needless to say he had a number of complaints and even a few sexual harrassment complaints to HR from people who were 4 or 5 cubes down from him, but could still hear his crude language. Eventually your Neil Diamond-loving, male chauvinist pig will piss off the wrong person or enough people and will get the boot. When will your office be ready?

A - I am excited that you are going to have the BIG sonogram soon! I can't wait to hear if your having a boy or GIRL. Where are you going to have the baby? I never had the AFP test with my pregnancies. I didn't like the fact that it's not all that accurate. Regarless of the results I wouldn't have ever aborted my babies, so I felt it was a waste of time for me.

Shopping for summer clothes for kids... *sigh* I dread that, I need to do it for Super Girl - I have enough - more than enough - summer clothes for Cabbage Patch, things that Super Girl wore. I really need to sit down and sew some more summer clothes for the girls. I have the patterns, I have the fabric, I just need to do it.

Funny Kid

I realized my youngest is either Greek or Jewish. Today after hubby poured new food into the cat's dish, she kept picking up Dusty, takeing her to the food dish and saying "Eat, eat, eat, eat..." hehehehe... gotta love that kid.
Monkey Sandwich!

That's a name my sister and I came up with for a certain family member who has a nasty little habit of giving people very unflattering nick-names behind their bat. He calls my grandmother the Bat, my aunt who has MS is Gimpy, my sister is Spring (because he says she can't sit still), I'm Turtle (because I'm slow to do anything in his book). He thinks this is funny. My sister came up with the phrase Monkey Sandwich, I thought it fit him rather well. So now he's Monkey Sandwich who is married to The Only Living Heart Donor.

SPIKE GETS A NEW HOME!

No no I didn't get rid of Spike. My sister gave me her unused 10 gallon fish tank. I set it up today after the little people got up from naps. Hubby bought a filter and an air pump attachment. I scrubbed out the tank and washed off all the rocks. Now it's up on the bar waiting for the end of next week when Spike can be transfered over to the big tank, then the new fish will join shortly after. I wasn't sure what to do as far as setting up the tank but thankfully there is an endless supply of information on the internet. All I had to do was clean out the tank, fill with water, hook up filter and air pump, wait a week, add fish. A lot eaiser than I anticipated. Super Girl is upset about the tank though, I was filling the new tank and she said "Hurry mommy! Spike is going to die!" hehehehe... I had to explain to her that Spike is fine, he won't die. Now she keeps asking when can she put Spike in the new tank. She has no concept of waiting a week - hell she has no concept of waiting period. She's so funny. I still have to get a lid and a light for the tank but I have a week for that. I'm not sure if I'm going to get live plants to go in the tank or not... It's a definite maybe. I've heard they can make the tank get dirty faster, and quite frankly I don't want to have to be cleaning the tank a lot. I know that sounds lazy, but fish are supposed to be one of thoes super easy low maintenance pets and that's how I want it. I'm excited about the tank though, can't wait to have a fish swimming around in there. :o)
OMG - L - I read your post re: offensive odors and almost wet my pants this morning. That was to damn funny. The smell of burning peat must have really burned (no pun intended) into your memory unpleasantness. And no that smell does not lend itself to making the landscape very 'picturesque' but your description is certainly 'picturesque'. I must go traveling with you!

A- I'm sure you have far more quint and lovely memories of Ireland, you spent a great deal of time there immersed in the culture. You have have two little half Irish kids (and one on the way) so I'm sure you have great memories of Ireland.

Awful Odors

L wrote about smells that she can't stand... I can totally identify. I dislike many strong odors. I run into a LOT of people (mostly men) who wear tons and tons of cologne - most of the time I run into these people while I'm in an elevator going from one floor to the next in the hospital. Ick. I can not stand the over cologned or over perfumed smells. I do wear perfume, but not that often and not that damn much. I don't mind people wearing pefume or cologne but I think that if I'm standing at a comfortable distance infront of you and can smell it, then you have to damn much on. I don't really want to smell it unless I'm very close to you. Like if I'm dancing close with a date (yeah I know I'm dreaming) then it's nice to smell it on my date. In fact I love when men do wear cologne, but lightly, nothing is sexier to me than the smell of a man fresh from the shower with just a hint of cologne or even no cologne but just deodorant. A nice clean smell is very appealing.

On to room deodorizers, etc. I generally can not stand them. I don't like the typical room freshener smells. although Crabtree and Evelynn makes a citris room spray that I absolutly LOVE - and while I was pregnant with Cabbage Patch I fell in LOVE with that smell - actually I love citris smells very much (odd because I generally dislike citris fruit). It smelled so clean and fresh. I like thoes kind of smells, not candy smells or fake flower smells. Nothing cloying - makes me want to gag. I do like some flower smells, but I have to be able to identify the smell, like roses - I love roses, but just a light fragrance. From working in the hospital, I've come to absolutly hate some floral scents (stargazer lilies are the top one I despise). I don't like scented laundry soap at all, and most fabric softeners fall into that cloying scent catagory. I hate the Glade type room fresheners - too strong, gives me a headache. I don't mind some incents, but not a lot of them - I tend to have to burn them in my bathroom because as I've mentioned on here before, it tends to smell like ass (and I do keep it clean, it has something to do with the toilet and the plumbing - have to keep one of thoes toilet freshener things in the tank to help with that, but it doesn't always work).

Smells I can't stand:
Cigaretts and coffee (just cigaretts also)
too much perfume or cologne (doesn't matter what it is)
body stink
stargazer lilys
over ripe fruit
raw onions
musty dog smell
most room deodorizers
industrial strength deodorizers
dog or cat excrement of any kind
baby formula
bad breath

And on that last one, bad breath, why is it that people with BAD BREATH have to get in your face to talk to you? Blech. I worked with this one guy who was so good looking, but had the worst breath, he would come to my desk and talk to me all the time, long winded conversations or explanations of what he needed me to do. Yikes, I liked the guy, but damn I hated him stinking up my cube with his ass breath. And the bosses I've had who had the stale coffee breath - uggh - help me. Or worse the few who had the stale coffee & too many cigarettes breath who had to come breath in my face. yuck.

OK, enough about that. I do like the smell of cooking. mmm.. that's gotta be the best way to make a house smell good - cook. :o)

DON'T DO MY LAUNDRY!

Today I'm taking some things out of the dryer, apparently hubby decided to do a load of laundry or two. This is an extreme rarity that he does laundry and even more rare that he does laundry that isn't just towels or his underware (generally desperation drives him to the laundry room). Today (or was it yesterday... I'm not exactly sure when the washer was actually run...) I find my BEST DRY CLEAN ONLY dress in the dryer... meaning... it went through the washer first... then tumbled around getting hot in the dryer... shrinking!!! SHRINKING!!! SHIT! I am really the only person to blame on this. I tossed the dress in a basket in the laundry room after the mock jury thing. I was going to wash the dress on delicate then hang it dry. I really thought it would be safe since hubby hardly ever steps foot in the laundry room unless dire circumstances dictate (out of undies and socks). Grr.... now my favorite dress... my beautiful red dress that I've had for 5 years and only wear about twice a year has been manhandled - and I mean MAN handled! - and is more than likely TOO small... shit. The dress is part rayon so I MAY be able to sort of fix it with a steam iron, but damn... my favorite dress... Hell I wouldn't even wear this on a date because I sure as hell would not want some guy pawing all over this great dress... now it's shrank... grrr..... death to husband.... Off to make a voodoo doll of my husband.
It's amazing what Duct tape can do...

Thoes imortal words were uttered by my husband... I don't know why... but it is funny... I don't want an explanation, the possibilities in my mind are much more entertaining.

Other strange things said at my house recently:

Don't put flowers up your nose.
I know you finished your breakfast, but you still can't have ice cream.
Aliens took the light from the fridge... really... no really...
No, no, don't whack daddy with the voodoo doll.
Grrr... I can't get something to show up on this stupid page... grrr....

L - I must concur - that site screams homo-erotic! hehehehehe....

A - I do wish that story were true - not that the guy actually was a time traveler, but just that someone would say that. I love that. hubby and I talked at length about that story and how much more interesting it would be if it really was true. hehehe.. I know... we need lives.
Somehow I knew I would be....

You are red. You are impure, but noble. You are precious and true to yourself and others. When you love, you love entirely, and will do anything to make your love happy. You are sure of your identity, therefore, you cannot change others or be changed. You are a true prince, you may be forgotten, but without you, none of us could go on.

What inner color are you?

Interesting little quiz, although I don't know any of these Jap-anime characters. I gotta stop taking these silly quizes - makes me look uninteresting...

(few minutes later)
I went to that quiz site to look at the other colors... freaky - the art work is kind of erotic but also hints of violence - kind of like some of the Jap-anime I watched a long long time ago (not my choice - boyfriend at the time loved it). It's almost disturbing. The only color that doesn't seem to have an erotic nature is PINK, but the rest do to varing degrees. Very odd.

Blue Bell - Best Ice Cream In the Country!

This evening, hubby went to the store to get french bread to go with dinner - I made crawfish etoufee - not my favorite thing to eat - at least not the way I made it tonight, but hubby loved it. Anyway - that man can never just get the item he says he will purchase, he came home with 3 bags of things, one contained 4 of the pints of Blue Bell. hehehehehe... Dutch Chocolate, Moo-lenium Crunch, Cookies and Cream and Good Heavens! - (a new flavor - Homemade Vanilla and Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream with Cookie Dough)... mmmmmmm... it's so nummy... a real diet buster, damn it's good. mmmm... must go.... need more ice cream now......
Flying Kites... SUCKS!

Today was another good day. I had this strange urge to take the little people out and fly kites with them. I had purchased 2 cheap $.99 kites at WalMart a few weeks ago and was just waiting for the weather to get nice enough (and the wind to die down a bit) to fly kites. Now let me just say that previously I had only flown a kite one time... one other time I TRIED to fly a kite for Super Girl, but it did not work out well and was just a bad bad horrible event to scare my childs psychie with - ok, slight exageration, it was to scare ME for rest of eternity. Anyway, hubby and I quickly assemble the kites and head out to the field near the town houses. Hubby just lifts the Elmo kite above his head and lets go - it's flying, soars up high and is going great. I attempt to do the same with the Barbie kite. The kite goes up for a moment, then comes back down... I try again... it makes a feeble fluttering sound before dropping to the ground. I toss the damn thing and jog a bit, it flies. It's up, flying - sort of - Then it flies over past the Elmo kite, takes a dip and flips around the kite string! Damn! I start pulling the kite string to bring it down, it starts flipping around Elmo's string - over and over... As it's coming down. Elmo keeps flying. I get Barbie within reach and start untangling.... I end up having to snap the line because it's to damn tangled.. but Elmo keeps flying! Grrr... I retie Barbie's string, move further away from hubby and get Barbie back up in the air. As soon as Barbie is flying, hand the string off to Super Girl and reach for my camera to take a picture, at that very moment the string breaks. Barbie flies a little bit, then plunges to the ground. I take off running to get the kite, everytime I get close the wind blows it further away. After a short while I think to myself "what the heck am I doing? Why am I chasing after a stupid $.99 kite! I'm not getting run over for that!" the kite fluttered off into the street then further off to where I couldn't see it. Super Girl was not happy that I didn't get the stupid kite - but life goes on. Elmo still flew. I sat down on the ground with Cabbage Patch and put flowers in her hair and took pictures, Super Girl held the string for Elmo. When it was time to go and pull Elmo in, I started to help, as soon as I pulled the string on Elmo, he PLUMMETED to the ground! Heck - I'm cursed - Kite Cursed. I'm not sure if this is a bad thing, and I'm not sure who would think to put such a curse on me... I might have to make a voodoo paper doll of them (such a lame curse doesn't deserve the time and effort of a real voodoo doll...) Here is a picture of Elmo flying, then a picture of my first kite disaster

And here are some of the flower pictures I took:

The wind was blowing pretty hard so it was hard to get really good focus on the flowers at times... that and 2 kids climbing on me. hehehehe...

Powell Quote (not sure how authentic this is. A friend of mine who is a real stickler for authenticating these types of statements sent this to me)

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.

He answered by saying that, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return."

It became very quiet in the room.

What a good day!!

I started my day off with a mad dash down to my orthodontist to get my braces tightened. I had made a calculated error when I made my appointment at my last torture session... I mean tightening... I had set my appointment for 8:30 am, meaning I would have to drive in rush hour traffic, something I dread just on a normal basis but having a car with a radiator issue it is sheer terror. As I approached the freeway my worst fears were confirmed, there was some kind of freaking accident on the highway backing it up way past my point of entry, so I'd need to take the alternate road. OK, fine, I head over, as I am driving I notice that my car has gotten hotter than it usually does... hubby drove the car to downtown Dallas yesterday for an interview and he said it over heated on the way back... apparently it decided to keep this disposition. So I drive there, sweating out the red lights (literally) watching my temperature gage go past the L in NORMAL and head for the red patch indicating HOT (which really means OVER HEATED Stop The Damn Car!). I got lucky most of the way there hitting mostly green lights, keeping the car at a pretty constant 45 mph, which helped to bring the temp down to the A and sometimes the M, but still running much hotter than usual - every time I hit a red light I prayed it would turn green fast. I get to the ortho right on time (surprising me). As I wait one of the front desk people comes back to ask if I'm the one with the Taurus - yes I am - and informs me that it's smoking, I correct her, It's steam and yes I know, thank you, it's just to hot. Sheesh... On to the fun, more wires, tools and hands in my mouth for the next hour. When it's all done, I think I have maybe one more adjustment then I'll be braceless... yes!! OK, so I head home again watching the temperature soar even though I take the now cleared freeway. The constant 70 mph does help to keep it a little bit cooler, but not by much. I get home, and for some bizarre reason I'm in a really good mood - must be me feeling better. I inform hubby that we are going for a walk - gotta take some things to the post office anyway. It's windy, windy, windy here today. I had to stop every few moments to rearrange my hair out of my face - I really should have put a clip in it, I kept having it wrap around my head and all.. ick. So we go to the post office, I learn that mail to Canada is NOT considered DOMESTIC mail, so I can not use a priority mail envelope. *sigh* A Global Priority Mail envelope would have wracked up a postage cost of $7!! YIKES! No way! So the postal guy feels sorry for me, get's me a padded envelope to put my mail in and air mail comes to a whopping $1.35 - hey that's actually a better deal than priority mail ($3.85). We leave there and take the kids to CiCi's for a 'scrumptious' lunch. Nothing like cheap pizza - and all you can eat at that. We stop off at the grocery store on the way home for a few things then walk home, this time the wind is hitting us right in the face, the little people were hilarious. They both were in the stroller and by the time we got within 2 blocks of home they both were lying back in the stroller with their eyes closed. hehehehe... I told hubby he could push the stroller at that point, it was getting quite a work out from pushing two kids against the wind (hmmmm... that reminds me of a song....). Back home, it was nap time... for EVERYONE! YAY. I head off to nap land but wake shortly - heartburn, uggh... thanks CiCi's for that wonder re-run on the pizza. When the little people wake I ask Super Girl what she wants to do 1) paint 2) make cookies 3) plant seeds. Before I can get all three choices out she is saying paint, but when I say plant seeds, she can hardly contain herself. We plant the vegitable seeds in the kitchen in tiny containers I am going to put them in a container outside when they sprout. She was thrilled to help. Then we sat at the table and painted with her water colors. I started getting silly with her as we painted after I saw some paint smears on some of the papers. Her little hands were covered in various paints and when she touched the paper she left two multi-colored hand prints. So I took her hands and painted them then pressed them to paper. It was so pretty! I did it 4 or 5 more times with different patterns - Super Girl was so tickle by it. I'm going to use the hand prints to make Easter Cards, they are so darn pretty. I'll post pictures later. By the time we finished painting it was after 6 pm! I was hungry so I begged hubby to make dinner, he made steak - YUM - my last solid meal for a bit since my teeth will be sore for a week. *sigh* that steak was gooooooood... mmmmm.. After dinner I had to dunk the little people in the bath tub for a quick scrub - I looked at Super Girl and saw that she had many, many multi colored patches on her legs and hands and spots of color on her cute little face. hehehehe... so cute. Then we finished the evening by watching Power Puff girls. *sigh* now it's over. What a great day. :o)

I've Beaten Anthrax!!!

Whew! I am finally past the crappy part of this. My throat doesn't hurt anymore, the spots are gone... I'm still on antibiotics. The antibiotics leave me a little lightheaded at times (like now!!!) so I've made the (un)educated decision to not take my crazy pills. My reasoning is that since they cause me to be sleepy at times and they are drugs that affect my mental stability (hehe) I figured the antibiotics might affect them strangely. Not sure that's a good idea or not, but that's what I have been doing. I was mostly afraid I would fall asleep while driving. Ok, enough about my medications.... Let me catch you up on what has been happening here... I'll just write it all out since Friday or so, maybe Thursday or Wednesday... and whatever I can't remember, I'll just make it up. So here goes.

Friday

So on Friday I was feeling like I had been run over by a semi - I had an appointment for someone to come over at 10 am that day and an appointment to have family portraits made at 4 pm. Yeah, great planning on my part. I wanted to cancel the 10 am person, because frankly I didn't want them over at all, but I had no freaking choice (sucks to have a court ordered duty). This person comes at 10 am, I let her in (still wearing my night gown!!!) and tell her that I have strep. She doesn't seem to care and continues on with her 'duties' of asking me a hundred pointless questions and scheduling appointments for this week for follow up visits. Yeah, whatever, just leave.

My sister comes over with a car full of my kids stuff - toys mostly - toys are things my kids have no shortage of . He hung out for a while, which was cool because I had not seen her in a couple of weeks, then she left. I slept for a while. I was really tired because the night before I had trouble getting any sleep. I also started taking my antibiotics that day. Hubby went and got some DVDs to distract the kids that night and we had... something... I don't know.. maybe pizza or steak or something for dinner... that's kind of a blur... I layed on the sofa most of the evening slipping in and out of sleep running a fever.

Saturday
I worked, came home, slept. Something else happened that day, but hell if I can remember.

Sunday
I worked, came home, felt much better and then fell asleep. hehehehe... I think the antibiotics were making me giddy. Since I was feeling better that day I decided we needed to sort through the kids toys and get rid of stuff. So I grabbed a bag and started digging through tossing out the broken stuff. I also went through and got rid of some stuff that wasn't broken, but that they didn't care about, some of the stuffed animals that my sister had brought over (hell they hadn't seen them in months and hadn't mentioned them) and some things that I didn't particularly want to look at again that were here (a stupid praying teddy bear that recited a prayer... annoying). So I had hubby put the toys that were not sell-able (I'm going to list a bunch of things on e-bay soon - stuffed animals just don't sell though) out by the dumpster - (people who live in apartments know that is the universal place to deposit things that you no longer want/need or can fit in your apartment, but that are still useful as garage sales are just not possible in apartments - retrieving items from said locations is called Dumpster Diving... it can be very lucrative. We were just making a deposit into this system). Actually.. I think we did the toy thing on Saturday night, not Sunday... see... the drugs are affecting my memory... damn..

OK so Sunday night, we put the baby to bed - she goes about half an hour past her bedtime. The older one did not want to go to bed. She had a bad dream the night before and ended up crawling in bed with me at 5:30 am (much to my displeasure - I can't sleep with her in bed). So she did NOT want to sleep in her bed. Hubby takes her up to bed about an hour past her bed time. She comes down 10 minutes later, he takes her back up. They come down a few minutes later, she says she needs a certain toy to go to sleep. I say "Fine, get it and get back to bed." So she starts searching. I say "What are you looking for?" She mentions something, i have no clue what she is talking about. About 5 more minutes of searching, I ask her again what she's looking for and this time I ask her to describe it. And she does... hubby and I look at each other... I'm trying hard not to burst out laughing... She's describing one of the toys we got rid of! hehehehehe.... I finally told her we got rid of it, she didnt' need it. *sigh* she ended up sleeping in my bed last night (she's the only one who got sleep....), so I guess I got my punishment for tossing her toy. Kids...

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday (said in radio announcer voice...)

Work was really really great - sales sucked ass, but work was great. ALL the baby pictures were fabulous. *sigh* gives me such a feeling of acomplishment to take great pictures.

Anthrax Still Hanging On...

*WARNING* WHINE ALERT *WARNING*

I'm still sick. I'm sick of being sick... I feel sicker than I was. I have antibiotics now, but I'm not certain they are coursing through my bloodstream as we speak because I threw up shortly after I took the first one. I don't recall seeing it in there, but to be honest, I did not look that closely. I feel like I'm in a vicious cycle - my throat hurts so I don't eat much (not that I have much of an appetite), I run a fever so I take medication for that which causes my stomach to produce excess acid because I haven't eaten much... Sheesh.. and my throat hurts more after the puking incident. AND... I can't sleep much... I try but I wake from whacked out fever dreams then I'm uncomfortable because I've got a fever and I can't sleep. I was awake at 3 am this morning. I cleaned my kitchen since I was up. Read a few cook books, thinking the monotony would put me to sleep. I move from my bed to the sofa most of the night, just looking for a more comfortable place to rest. Uggh... I'm so melodramatic. Whaaaaaaa... I want to feel better... Somebody shoot me! (d you were here earlier and you did not do that!!!)

We were supposed to have pictures done today, family pictures, but for obvious reasons that did not happen.

And it occured to me last night in one of my wakeful moments... maybe this is all psychosamatic... Maybe I'm just being a hypocondriac and willing myself to manifest physical symptoms. I'm going to spend the rest of the evening willing myself to recover so I can go to work tomorrow... well I have to go to work tomorrow whether I'm recovered or not. *sigh* Whaaaaaaaaaa!!! I want my mommy!!!

ps - D - thanks for coming over today and risking exposure to my plague. I appreciate you bringing the fish tank and little people's stuff and enjoyed your company. Thanks for getting lunch for us - even though it took me 3 hours to consume mine.;o) your the best.

Appealing To The Masses or Just Incredibly Stupid?

I bought a different magazine this week, I generally don't buy this magazine, I just saw that there is an article about an actress I like in the magazine, so I threw caution to the wind and tossed the magazine on my grocery pile. I've had the magazine sitting here by the computer for almost a week, and just now remembered it. In flipping through I saw several perfume ads. Not a freaking one of them made ANY sense. And it made me think of the perfume commercials on television, none of thoes make sense either. I honestly would like to know exactly how many of the perfume ad execs are smoking the crack pipe as they think up these ads. Why should two not very attractive models dressed in black standing in the middle of a dessert with the sounds of a word being softly spoken repeatedly in the back ground make me want to buy this particular fragrance? Is it really about the fragrance anyway? A lot of the fashion magazines don't have many perfume samples in them anymore, so what is the selling point in these ads? I'll tell you (if you haven't already figured it out) - it's the brand name. I think what ever designer is the 'flavor of the minute' in fashion at this particular time can bottle just about any scent they want and it will sell as long as their BRAND name is on it. Polo for men always smelled like grass clippings to me, but it was hugely popular for a while. Poison was one of thoes perfumes that had to be put on lightly or it gave the impression of chemical warfare, yet lots and lots of woman wore it that way. Eternity was one of the fragrances I would wish to not have to be trapped near for eternity. Crazy. I don't choose perfume by the lable, I choose by the fragrance that I like. I tend to lean towards floral scents, heavily rose sented. My favorite being Paris (have worn it for YEARS) and Hombre Rose, but I'll wear just about any rose scented piss in a jar, regarless of the price or brand - if I like it. Anyway - perfume ads make no sense - in print or on televison.
Things That Sound Dirty... But Aren't

The little people are watching Oswald The Octopus and today is Big Banana day. Yeah, really. Oswald has a dog named Weine and the two of them walk through the town telling everyone it's "Big Banana Day", some of the characters say things like "Oswald, thats an awfully big banana." So Oswald spends the whole day walking through the town sharing the big banana with everyone. Oh yeah, it was like the script of a bad porn movie minus the cheesy music. Actually I think it would be incredibly funny to use the sound track from the cartoon and just turn it into a porn movie. *snort* Yeah I know, I'm sick... but I just woke up... and hearing them talk about the 'Big Banana' struck me as funny and somehow inappropriate. ;o)

Library Day

So today after the demons, I mean the little people woke from their naps, we headed off to the library. I had visions of my two little girls with books, sitting on the carpet with me reading to them. Happy smiles for everyone. That's not even close to what happened. We got to the library and headed off to the childrens section (which I must say the local library has a very nice and well stocked children's section), as soon as we get through the doorway of the children's section all hell broke loose, the kids pull away from my hands and head down between the shelves of books - squealing like a couple of little pigs as they chased each other. I keep saying 'shhhhhh!' 'Stop running!' 'come back here!' as I glaring at them and trying to catch them to make them stop, this only adds to the mayhem as they think I am now part of the game and they head separate directions through the books - screaming and laughing the whole time. When I finally caught up with them, there were several threats to each child and Cabbage Patch finally had to be held to keep her from running through the books like a maniac. I think we ended up spending 30 minutes total at the library (which was about 29 minutes to long) - both hubby and I got a couple of books and I found some Curious George books for the girls to check out, I just grabbed them off the shelf, I knew we needed to get the hell out of there before we got thrown out! So much for a nice relaxing time at the library. Can't wait to do it again....
A - Yes I know, I need antibiotics... I seem to be extremely susceptible to Anthrax (strep)... maybe one of my neighbors is a terrorist... hmmmm... that does make things (in my mind) much more interesting...

Siblings will always fight no matter how close or far apart they are. Even twins fight. My sister and I are about 2 and a half years apart and we fought a lot. We were very close, but we still fought. My husband's oldest brother is 10 years older than him, they fought growing up, his younger brother is 4 years younger, they fought also. Siblings fight.. that's why it's call sibling rivalry. (infact my kids are fighting right now... *sigh*) I'm sure it would be great for Bear if he knew what the new baby is and he could help pick out toys for the new baby, and clothes, etc. Don't worry, everything will work out. Lilianna is a beautiful name.
Continuing Saga Of Anthrax...

Uggh... I am still battling this damn Anthrax (strep). I just finished cleaning the livingroom - my house was really starting to look like a pig sty. I love my husband but as I've mentioned before, he CAN NOT clean. I still have a lot to do, but it looks a lot better now. The carpet had not been vacuumed since Saturday - ICK! The little people's toys were starting to take over the living room, so I rearranged the toys in the box and shelves, and now they are out of the way. Damn, my kids have way too many toys.

Dreams

When I get sick, I get the most bizarre dreams. I can't remember everything, because I also tend to wake a lot when I'm sick. What I remember is that most of the dreams had an odd theme of gangsters in it. I have NO idea why, I did not watch anything about gangsters last night. Just the usual Forensic Files, New Detectives and Mug Shots... none of which was about gangsters. Weird...

Tuesday, March 25, 2003

Here I am, up from my sick bed for a few moments. Uggh I feel icky. In addition to the Anthrax (strep) I have pulled a muscle in my back - I know exactly when I did it, and it hurts like hell. Last night when hubby got home from his trip he gave me something for it, but it made me ill about an hour later, so I spent the next hour and a half throwing up - I think the medication just caused my stomach to produce an excess amount of bile thus causing me pain and vomiting. Anyway - I spent most of the night waking being misreble and trying to find the right concotion to dull the pain and not cause sickness. I finally did - some pain pills from when he hurt his back. They worked.

A & L - Yikes, thoes are disturbing dreams! Dreams are interesting things (arm chair psychiatrist coming out) - all aspects in the dream are aspects of the dreamer. Plainly - everything in the dream is you. L- I think you need to look into the dreams and find out what is going on. Is there a common theme? Is there a common feeling? What do these dreams remind you of? And most importantly - what is stressing you out so much? Look for ways to de-stress yourself. sometimes just acknowledging what is causing you the stress can help (after all I am the queen of the anxiety dreams). And get some Tylenol PM or something - lack of sleep is probably exagerating the problem.

A - I'm not even going to adress the dream - pregnancy makes dreaming very bizarre. I know you are extremely stressed. And I know that moving everything back to your parents is extremely stressful - and of course having another baby is too. You also need to de-stress and get sleep. Tylenol PM is safe for you - I never would have survived my last pregnancy with out it. Stop worrying about the baby, she will be fine (yes I think it's a girl) even if you never take another prenatal vitamin and eat hamburgers and pizza the rest of the gestatinal period - I did with Super Girl and she's was fine. ;o) Don't stress over Monkey and Bear being jealous of the baby, theres no point in that now - they either will or they won't be and there is nothing you can do to change that now. *sigh* pregnancy makes you so paranoid about things, you over stress so eaisly. Don't worry about things you can't change... everything works out in the end. ;o)

Anthrax Again?!?!?!

Yes I have Anthrax (strep) again. Sheesh.. this sucks. My hubby is out of town - he acompanied his father on the drive to Tennessee. Uggh I feel horrible and I'm exhausted. I keep falling asleep on the sofa so the kids are doing what they want - YIKES!!- actually they haven't been to bad, the living room has coloring papers everywhere, but that's about it.

Can't think straight right now.... going back to the sofa...

BOOK Review!!!

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

I finished the book last night. I stayed up way to late after our bi-weekly game and finished the book. This is a rarity, not that I finish a book, but that I finish a book in about 2 days as my days spent being a full time mom and part time baby photographer leaves me very little time for one of my favorite pastimes - reading a good book. Coraline is a children's book for mature children (probably would mostly appeal to girls more than boys as the main character is a little girl with a penitence for exploring). It's a creepy tale (even creepy enough to creep out a 31 year old who loves S King novels and true crime novels) but not a scare you into a state somewhere between bed wetting and a near death experience book, very intellectual and introspective. I'm a fan of Neil Gaiman, yet I have to admit most of my reading of his works has been limited to his works on Sandman (which is a wonderful work - more literature than comic book and is the only comic book I would read in my 'literary snob' era). Part of me is embarrassed that I have not read more of his works knowing how well I have liked everything I have read that he has penned. My bad. Anyway - back to the subject at hand - Coraline. I was completely enchanted with this book. It was difficult to put down and was a really quick read. Coraline is an odd little girl who moved with her parents to a flat with odd and eccentric neighbors during her break from school. Coraline's parents are busy working parents and she is an only child who wishes her parents would spend more time playing with her. She spends a lot of her time exploring and visiting her eccentric neighbors. One day it rains and Coraline can not go exploring outside, but instead has to explore the flat she lives in... and that's where the adventure begins. Coraline is a smart, brave and even wise little girl. Her adventures are strange and sometimes unsettling not terrifying but definitely disturbing. The story moves along smoothly and seamlessly with plenty of odd twists and surprises to keep the reader guessing. The adventure is a wonderful learning experience for the odd little girl who is adventurous and courageous even if she is small for her age. And I love the ending of this book, it's not typical and that's what makes it great. Read this book, its well worth the read. I plan to read this to my girls when they are a bit older, I think they will enjoy it and hopefully identify with a little girl who wants 'Day-Glow green gloves' and likes to explore.
L - to answer your question of; How about men who never have one single girlfriend, get married, etc.? You know, the ones who spend their lives in pursuit of women, but as soon as they have successfully bedded one, they dump her and move on to the next? When queried about their actions, they say "I've just never met the woman I thought I could settle down with." Or even, in a moment of very rare honesty "I am usually out the door so fast that I never stick around to see if this could have been someone to be a girlfriend or wife. I don't want to do this but I always end up doign it anyway." What I find most upsetting about this is that the running away tends to take place after a very heated and dedicated pursuit.

OK, this is my take on it - I'm drawing on many conversations I've had with men who do this and from my own personal experience. The kind of men who chase an object of their desire with gusto and purpose only to abondon and quickly forget said object after successfully bedding them fall into two catagories - ones who like the challenge and excitement of the pursuit but when they catch their prey the game is pretty much over, so they split. There are a LOT of men who do this. Then there are thoes who are just looking to wrack up their numbers of 'conquests' and prefer to have to work for it in order to 'prove' their sexual prowes (mostly to themselves). And the men who say things like "I've just never met the woman I thought I could settle down with." are obviously afraid of commitment.
