Ahhh we watched Monster's Inc again tonight. That is such a cute movie! I laughed, I cried. hehehe... I love it. I may watch it again tomorrow before I work out. It's due back Saturday. Hubby can return it while I am working.
Speaking of work, I haven't heard back from my manager as to whether I switch hospitals this weekend. *sigh* she is awful about calling back unless it's just URGENT. *eyes rolling up in head* I guess it wasn't that urgent that I switch hospitals.
On to other work... working out! I went and worked out tonight - I'm so proud of myself. I'm doing really well if I do say so myself. And I've been sticking with my eating plan, and I've already lost 3 lbs! YAY! Woohoo! I need to go to Walmart this weekend and get some vitamins, I have a list of the ones I need to get. It's really only a few, but I can't remember the names of them unless I write them down.
OK, on to "Things that made me laugh today" (and no it wasn't that squirrel either), does anyone remember that movie Krull? It came out in like 82 or something... I remember seeing that movie when I was a wee child. I loved that movie. And apparently other people did also! Look at this link! KRULL for KRULL! That did make me laugh a LOT. I mean it was a good movie... but it's a been almost 20 years.. and it wasn't THAT good... hmmm... funny... Also... this was on of Liam Nelson's first movies! HAHAHAHAHA! He had a small part in the movie (go look at the pictures on the site, there are two of him!).
Well I better go to bed... My googley-bear is already in bed... hehehe... yeah I love that movie...

Damn.. you will not even belive what happened to me yesterday... So I'm driving in yesterday, and I'm talking ot my husband as I drive... then... I hit a squirrel! WUMP... damn.. I can not belive I whacked a squirrel. DH just kind of sat there looking at me. And what did I do? I started laughing! Sheesh. I just kill a cute little animal and I laugh. Not an evil, menical laugh... "Bwhahahahahaha... I got you! You little bastard! HAHAHAHA!" No, not like that. But I did laugh. Let me explain part of what was funny (I know your thinking.. there's nothing funny about this at all.... but let me continue...) Last week we had been driving in the same area and I remembered something from a long long time ago about when my dh hit a bird while we were on vacation - and when that happened (he could not avoid it at all), it sort of happened like a cartoon - the bird hit the grill of the car and a plume of feathers sprayed up... then I would not let him stop the car for a while, I was afraid I'd see a bird plastered to the grill and I didn't want that. So I thought about that all of the sudden and started laughing. After a few minutes hubby said "You didn't even slow down.", but I did! I just didn't see the little fucker until he was right infront of the car! Apparently hubby SAW the little vermin charging across the 4 lanes of traffic and he THOUGHT I saw it also, but didn't say anything. Well I was looking at the traffic ahead of me and not watching the median for squirrels with bad judgement. OK, OK, I realize that I've probably just racked up some bad karma for that... a little for hitting the squirrel and a lot for the laughter... I have a lot of karma to burn off... anyway.. later... Hubby was being irritating, he put his head on my shoulder when we were sitting on the sofa and said he'd go to sleep there.. I told him he better not or I'd cause him physical harm, he made some smart comment, and I said "You better watch it, I whacked that squirrel today and he didn't do a damn thing to me." hehehe.... he laughed. Anyway, I do feel bad that I did that, but not to terribly bad (I've rationalized this out already..) I mean, I can't feel to bad for a critter who has the brain the size of a grape and can't figure out NOT to run into traffic, I'm imagining he just got added to the Darwin Awards in the squirrel world. OK, if you would like to tell me how awful of a person I am now, please feel free.. I do belive the comments are working.
Last night we watched 4 weddings and a funeral. I have mixed feelings on that movie. I enjoyed the comedy of it, and I even enjoyed Hugh Grant's character (which is a surprise since I generally don't like the characters he plays) and I loved seeing so many Brit comedy regulars with parts in the movie, but I thought Andie McDowell did a horrible job - her acting was so stiff. I was disapointed that Rowan Atkins didn't get a bigger part also. And I really did not like Andie McDowell's character at all.. she really screwed up this guy and she KNEW she was doing it. But the other characters and events in the movie made it completly enjoyable... Andie McDowell's character could eaisly be ignored for most of the movie, since the other characters were so charming and funny. And.. what she pregnant when she did this movie? I wonder because she looked bigger than normal in the wedding dress, then she wore this horrible shapeless gray trench coat thing to mess up Hugh Grant's wedding. eh, who knows...
Anyway.. I have to go, have to get my house cleaning done.

OMG - We rented Monsters Inc. tonight. That is the cutest movie! I loved it! Boo reminds me of my oldest so much. It was such a sweet movie. *sigh* I wouldn't let hubby buy it when we were in Hastings, told him he could get it for the girls for Christmas... but... now I want it NOW! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Such a dork I am! We also rented 4 weddings and a Funeral. Hope that is funny. We tried to find the old version of The Time Machine, but they didn't have it. I guess we will have to look at Blockbuster.
Another OMG - my husband's 20th High School reunion is coming up! AHHHH!!! He's such an old man. hehehehe... He made sure to get on the list of people who would help to plan this thing, because for the 10 year it sucked. hahahaha... Now he's glad I prodded him into starting to work out (and by the way, last night he said thanks to me for that, that he really hadn't wanted to but now he was glad he had because he was feeling better, etc... that AND this past weekend he went swiming with his brother and he said that when his brother took off his shirt he had rolls of FAT. *snicker* So hubby doesn't want to look like his brother. men are so vain). So anyway.. I can not belive that his 20th is coming up! That means that my 20th is coming up also! IN 6 years! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Anyway... that black cat has not returned.. it's for the best.

Ahhh... A - I have strong feelings about Yeats as well... a strong urge to vomit. I had to do one of my senior papers on Yeats... uggh.... hehehe... But I'm not surprised that you do like poetry. You seem like the type to like it... dreamy, idealistic, passionate... a granola girl... that's why I love you! ;o) Try not to be upset by L.. I know it's hard to hear things you don't want to hear, especially about thoes you love and feel bound to by loyalty... It's ok for L to feel like that, it doesn't mean she loves anyone of you any less.
Hmmm everyone else has their blog elsewhere... as in on their own site... and I'm still here on blogger... which is not that great. I need to move it.. but I don't know how.. I'm such a gob. *sigh*
So this is bizarre... there was a black cat outside my door today. Just mewing and mewing. I opened the door to shoo him away and he walked right into my apt! Damn! My cats were NOT happy. So I put him out. But he hung around for a LONG time. He was climbing my screen and everything... damn cat. Although.. he was very cute... I don't know if I'll be able to resist feeding him if he keeps coming around... *bad me*
So someone made me laugh today... they were talking about getting butt augementation.

Well I changed the template yet again... I was getting to damn frustrated trying to make that last one work... although it was extremely cool. Ahh well... it's just a place for my ramblings.
Anyway... odd that I mention Lord Byron yesterday.... Someone pointed out that I (my family that is) have a tie to him. Biography of C Lamb He had a torid affair with the wife of one of my ancestors.Hehehehe.. this makes me laugh quite a lot.
I finally remembered what it was that I was wanting to write about the other day... right before bed I remembered and grabbed a piece of paper and scribbled it down. HAHAHAHA.. I'm such a dork some days.
My hubby got some movies for us on Sunday - he rented The Time Machine and Blade II. The Time Machine - the old movie - is one of my favorite movies, so I was looking forward to this. But I was sorely disapointed... I thought it sucked really. Although I did recognize the man who played Alexander's friend as someone from a Brit Comedy that I watch - DH didn't believe me at first but he looked really hard and started laughing. Anyway... I did not like the changes in the story. I thought the old movie was so great, the new changes really detracted from the movie. And there were plot holes... I hate big gapeing plot holes... And why is it when ever people travel to the future, it's usually a future of perfect, sexy, scantily clad people? by the end of the movie I was quite sick of seeing the perfect girl in the sheer, metalic mesh mid-drif shirt who's hair always conveniently covered her nipples... Sheesh.... But Blade II... I loved it... Wesley Snipes makes a very sexy vampire. Much sexier than Tom Cruise... (WS could kick his ass any day...) yeah it was bloddy, and gory and violent.. but it was a Vampire movie... and it was based on a comic book (not one that I have actually read though). I had heard that it sucked, but hey, it's a vampire movie.... isn't that what they do...suck?... HAHAHAHA! Ok, that was stupid.... anyway.. I really thought it was on par with Blade I, which was not a FABULOUS movie, never going to win any awards but very entertaining, and DAMN WS looks soooo hot in leather!
So... I guess that probably says a lot about me. snicker....
The other thing I was going to elaborate on yesterday... hehehe.. was nutrition... Back in the 80's the experts were saying how bad meat was for us, how bad fat was for us, how low fat plans were the answer...
*damn... interuption* I'll get back to this later...
OK, it's ll pm now, so I guess I can get back to this thought HAHAHAHAHA! As I was saying, all through the 80's they pushed a low fat diet as the best thing, saying how red meat was sooooooo bad for us.... But, the American public contiued to get fatter and fatter... and the incidence of obesety related diseases continued to rise... as the models and actresses continued to get thinner and thinner... what a bizarre correlation... Then sometime in the 90's some Dr.s started saying that maybe a diet high in protien and lower in carbs would be better... but they were not really taken seriously... Then... do a lot of reading on health and nutrition... recently the medical community has started to take a longer look at this notion that the American public eats too many carbs which is contributing to the extra poundage. I totally believe that some people are extra sensitive to carbs. My own experience... Before I got pregnant with my oldest I went to Weight Watchers, I did the program and lost 23 lbs. Then my mom died and I put it back on... I rejoined while I was trying to get pregnant with her and got pregnant after being there for about 3 months... and I had only lost about 10 lbs. It was such a struggle. Then I stopped, they won't let you stay in the program while you are pregnant. I didn't gain much when I was pregnant. Shortly after I had her I was back to my pre-pregnancy poundage. When she was about a year and a half I started going back to WW, and I was keeping to the program very well. I was loosing about .5 lb a week ... most weeks... some weeks, it was nothing.. which was sooo frustrating. Then I kept reading about the low carb, high protein plans, and I picked up a book. I did it for a week, and when I went in for weighing, I had lost 6 lbs! That was more than I had lost the entire time I had been going this time! I was sooo excited. I stuck to it and the next week I had lost 5 more. Well... then I got pregnant again. LOL - this time I was shocked. We tried for 6 months before we got pg the first time - I've never had regular periods and had never ovulated regularly so it was just shooting in the dark - really... truly.. This time - boom... I was pregnant. funny thing was, a few months prior I had read an article about a women who had a weigh problem and had been diagnosed with POCS - which is made worse by being over weight, her Dr. put her on a low carb diet and she got pregnant (she had tried for almost 10 years prior to this). Anyway... My whole point is that, isn't it odd how the advice/learning on nutrition has kind of come full circle?
Just my thoughts...

Monday, September 16, 2002
Well since y'all did the Monday Mission, I figured I'd do them too (that and I keep forgetting what I want to write about.. no it isn't senility setting in, I just keep getting side tracked..)
1. Do you have a favorite piece of poetry or prose written by someone else? Care to share it?
Why yes I do, I'm glad you asked...'She Walks In Beauty' by Lord Byron.. It's not something I can quote or anything but I remember reading it in Senior English then in College... and I dearly loved it... or maybe it was the story behind the poem I loved so much... who knows... that's the one I think of when I think of poetry.. not that I'm really into poetry... actually I don't really like it that much... hmmm... go figure...
2. In High School, did you enjoy creative writing? Do you currently do any other writing in addition to your Blog? Did I enjoy it? hell I lived for it! I knew if it was creative writing I was going to get an A (at least in content, my spelling sucked... worse than it does now). I have several journals I write in now in addition to this blog. I have them in different places and write in them at different times. I'm disorganized in that area, what can I say. I've been mulling over a storybook for the girls.... but I'm not sure what to do... write it first then illustrate it... or do the illustrations then the text... or... do them at the same time... write some... draw some... see what happens... *sigh* I'm suffering from my disorganization..
3. Have you ever noticed that the Blog entries you least expect to get the most comments do, and those you expect to generate a lot of feedback don't? Which Blog entry of yours surprised you by getting a lot of comments? Which one did you think would generate a lot but didn't? Bwhahahahahahahaha! No one reads this thing! Well just 4 people hahahah.. they never comment here, just on their own blog....
4. Sometimes you get a chance to make a lifestyle change that has a huge impact on the course your life takes. That is, a moment where something became very clear to you, and that realization changed your life, such as: the need to leave a relationship, to stop an addiction, to bond with someone, to start a new career, and so on. Have you ever had an "awakening" moment in your life? yes....... at the very least one... I can't imagine NOT having one in your adult life... that's what makes life interesting... challenging... worth living.
5. Then there are other times where you can have a huge impact on someone else's life. You suggest they see a doctor, stop them from taking that last drink, or maybe just say some kind words at the moment. Have you made a lasting positive impact on the life of someone else? Hmmm.... I don't know... I'd like to think I have, but that sounds vain and conceited to say that I definitly have... I just try to live my life the best I can, as God would want from me. I know many people have had that affect on me, maybe someday I will have it on someone else.
6. Are there any charities or organizations which you support? How did you come to be involved with them? Hmmm.... I used to support Green Peace and World Wild Life Federation, but that was a long time ago... I was such a tree hugger then. I don't now, not that I don't want to, I just haven't... I guess I have a bit of guilt at being a former tree hugger and using disposable diapers on my babies. *oh the shame!* The Cancer Federation, because both my mother and my mother in law died from cancer. Also the ASPCA... whole animal lover thing there... not much else... I tend to be somewhat jaded at times as to where the funds are being dispersed...
7. Care to collaborate with me? Help me out and write the rest of this poem:
I drifted though a dream last night,
visions full of colors bright.
My thoughts began to drift to you,
and in an instant we were two.
I touched your hand,
We began to blend,
Filled with a feeling
that should have no end.
hmmm... crap... I'm so bad at this poetry thing... I suck... All that seems to be coming to me are dirty limericks... sorry.. you'll have to finish this one on your own.
....
BONUS: Hey cutie, what's up with this attitude?
Me attitude? It's called PMS, Putting up with Mens Shit... bye-bye... see you later...

Topics up for discussion today:
Laundry
White sneakers
Aliens (alien abductions and crop circle..)
Laundry... seems like thats all I ever do. You never get finished with it. Everyday it piles up more. I guess the only solution would be disposable clothes and large rolls of paper towels in the bathrooms... but then you'd be bitching about having to take out the garbage. I have this image of everyone wearing clothes that look like paper towels and napkins. hehehehe... OK, I know it's stupid.. but funny.
White sneakers.... I bought a new pair of sneakers a few weeks ago. White canvas... nice.. comfee. I bought these instead of the white leather ones.. I didn't like the style of the leather ones that well.. they were much like the ones I already had. Anyway... I also thought these would be eaiser to keep clean.. Just throw them into the washing machine. hmmm... bad thought... they don't seem to want to come clean. Damn... they are still pretty new and they look dirty. grrr..... I should have just bought black sneakers.. but I really like White sneakers... *sigh*
Aliens... my Dh and I were talking about alien abductions, etc the other day... well... not exactly like that... we were talking about something big and important... very intellectual stuff about the cosmos and all. Then for some reason we started talking about kids and teenagers. Hubby said "What if all thoes alien abductions are just that... teenaged boys playing pranks? 'Hey let's go trailer tipping!' type thing." Then we got to thinking about what the alien teen aged girls would do. Crop circles! HAHAHAHAHA! That was good for a few laughs over fajitas!
Well I need to go.. the laundry calls.

Well I tried to fix this damn thing... I don't know what I'm doing... it's been so long since I messed with this template thing... I think it's obvious I don't have a freaking clue what I'm doing... damn it... maybe it will adjust itself. hahahahahaha... I can hope... Oh well.. I should go to bed... I'm tired...
Damn... I keep screwing this thing up. I changed the template a while ago... then I tried to make some changes... make the text part wider... It didn't work, so I left it be. All of the sudden, days later, the text part is to damn wide now. *sigh* I tried to fix it last night but succeeded in doing nothing at all. I'll be changing this thing later... I don't know to what... I looked for new templates last night and didn't find anything I liked... so... who knows what I'll end up screwing this thing up with.. I mean doing with this.
whew.. it has been a busy week. Just when I thought work was calming down, it got all busy again. But in a good way. My Friday at Hell Hospital (that's my special name for this hospital, it's generally hell to work at - very disorganized) went surprisingly well. I got there at 8:30 am like my manager wanted me to, and went to HR to get my badge (apparently I could work on the weekends without a picture badge but not on the weekdays). HR had no paper work for me, so no badge. *sheesh* So I go back to the lobby and wait for my manager to meet me at 9 am (which I do not know why she needed to come to the hospital with me, I've worked it before... but I guess it was a good thing yesterday). She shows up and I tell her the situation, she calls who ever is in charge of these things, then we head over to HR again, by the time we get there - about 10 minutes to walk from one building to the other - they have the paper work and I get my badge (it was a good hair day, so good pic hehehe). Charlotte get's a new badge and the HR guy and her are talking talking talking (Charlotte talks way to much... she's very nice and very business like, but she does like to talk... all our staff meetings run long...), the guy is in awe because we are baby photographers (eyes rolling up in head) and how do we get the pictures, yadda, yadda, yadda... Charlotte him how it's mostly luck, sometimes you get lucky and get a cataloge quality picture, but that's rare, yadda, yadda, yadda... She finally shuts up and we head back to the other building. OK, it was pretty humid Friday, but not really all that hot - maybe 88. Charlotte did not like having to walk from one building to the other, she was trying to figure how to use the link between the buildings... and I told her that, yes they do connect but it would take longer to figure that out. She asks the security person who is on a golf cart about it, and he tells her the same thing, then offers us a ride. *sheesh* Of course she takes it! It would have taken us less time to walk it than to get this old guy to take us to the other building. This was starting to really irritate me, she walks slow as it is. Well of course she get's into a conversation with the security guy. So we get to the building and I have to stand there waiting for her to shut the hell up so we can go to the nursery. As we go up, she informs me that I am in violation of the dress code by having my hair down. (personally I think this is just a plot by short haired women who are jealous of my lovely waist length tresses.. hehehehe... let me live in my little fantasy here...), then asks me if I have a smock (we are supposed to wear these rather ugly blue smocks), I lie and say no (I was actually thinking .... I can't remember where I stuffed that thing...), but that's partially because my last manager ordered the wrong size for me even though I told her that I needed a larger size. Well whatever, if she wants me to have another one, she can order me one... not that I'll wear it... but she can order me one. So up on the floor, before we even get to the nursery one of the nurses tells us that there is a couple who are getting ready to go home and they want the picture done, they are in the nursery NOW. So in we go, I start gathering my forms and stuff... Get this couple take care of. Charlotte is sort of hanging around.. I don't think she believed me when I said that I had worked the hospital before and knew how to do it. Anyway, I get the baby in the cart and start taking pictures while she is still kind of standing around. Friday must have been my LUCKY day because this baby took absolutly perfect pictures, the parents were thrilled. Charlotte was impressed - she even took the proof sheet to show someone... hehehe... Then she offers me a different hospital to work on Saturday and Sunday - instead of the one I currently have as my third hospital, I'd get one that is much busier and closer to my home. OK, sounds good to me. She'll call me sometime this week to let me know if the switch will happen. So I had 25 babies on my list Friday! Took 11 pictures, 7 orders ($428!). It was a great day and it went very smoothly. Only one customer had crappy pictures. A set of twins that were leaving NICU. The one baby would not wake up and got really fussy. The nurse there was being a DICK. He had called for me to come get the pictures, but he was rushing this couple to get the hell out. Kept asking them if they were going to start taking things down. So the dad was getting uptight, and the baby was getting pretty fussy. I was irritated by all this. Twins are almost always a guarantee sale. We give twin parents a free package of pictures for one baby - so if they order the $33 package for one then we give them a $33 package for the other. They almost always want a picture of the babies together also, so that's good for another sale. Well these pictures were utter crap, so no sale. Damn. Anyway - Hell Hospital turned out to be very pleasant - 7.5 hours of work though!
Anyway... enough work talk.. I do love my job, but enough of that.
I've been painting the other side of that stool. I'm very irritated, I need to get more paint. I have a big bag full of paints, but I can not find it. I think my dh may have inadvertently put it somewhere and have forgotten it. I'm putting the Frog Prince and the Princess on the other side. It's very cute. I have most of the Frog Prince done, and part of the princess' face but I need more paint for her hair. I'd take a picture but it looks kind of funny right now.
Well I should go now...

*sigh* busy day. I got a call from my manager that someone had just quit - no notice... and she needed someone to fill in. Why do people do that? that is just so unreliable... Anyway.. I'll be filling in on Fridays at this hospital until they find a replacement.
Worked out again tonight - Yay me! Dh worked out also today, I'm so proud of him! Of us! Next week I'll start working on changing the way we eat. Not so much about what we eat, but how much we have been eating. Portion control. My biggest problem... I'm just glad hubby is doing this with me. It's so hard to do this alone. I'm shooting for loosing 15 lbs by the end of October. It's so damn hard for me to loose weight unless I really drastically cut back on the carbs... I mean drastically... which is very hard to do. But I can do it. Just have to get a little more disiplined with my eating habits and stick with the exercise.
Well off to bed for now.

Damn it...I don't know why that pic won't show... if you can't see the picture below - go to My Crafts
- look at the last few pics.
- look at the last few pics.
lol - well I haven't managed to get to my painting yet. I have gotten things started to make a wonder pasta sauce for tomorrow's dinner. lol. I have veggies in the oven roasting now - meatballs are already cooked and the rest of the veggies are in the crockpot with the meatballs just waiting for the rest of things to be added. I wanted to get this stuff ready now because we are supposed to have the pest people here today spraying or baiting or whatever they do. I really don't have any bugs in the apt. but it's their scheduled time to come out. I do want to talk to them about the SPIDERS!!! There are 3 fairly big spiders that keep hanging out by the door. This does NOT go over well with me as I really really hate spiders. One of them keeps spinning a web beween the two colums near the door. I keep knocking the web down. I even doused that one with hot water and it just rebuilt it's web that night. DH doesn't mind spiders but he doesn't like that one... a lady bug got caught in the web so he feels personally offended by that particular spider. *snicker* he's silly. But he does agree that 3 spiders by the door is too damn many spiders.
A - I've heard the babies birth story before, but it still makes me all teary to read it. Happy Birthday Baby L!

Last night we went and worked out. Not to sore today. :o) Then we watched Meet The Parents before bed (it was due today, so we needed to watch it last night). I've seen it before. I love Ben Stiller - he's sooo damn funny. Hubby had not seen it. So I'm sitting on the sofa laughing and laughing and he's hardly laughing at all. Damn I hate that. When you are laughing like a moron and the person your with doesn't seem to think it's all that funny...
DH told me yesterday that we needed to start Christmas shopping for the kids. YIKES! Is it that time already?!?! So today I went by Big Lots and there was a butt load of Barbie stuff and baby toys.. A bunch of electronic toys also. *sigh* Now to decide exactly WHAT to get them. eh, we have time. Nice to know it's there and it's pretty inexpensive.
Well... Im completly uninspired at the moment.... well not totally true.. I just want to get back to painting my stool! hehehehe... later...

Ahhh I feel a sense of acomplishment. I finished the little dress I have been working on. I had started it more than a month ago, but then didn't finish it. I got frustrated by the instructions... because they were not how I was doing the dress... *sheesh* how very rude of them. Anyway - it's done.. well almost. I need some buttons for it. I will take a picture of it a little later. It is very cute.. simple but cute.
In response to L's list of 5 books that had the most impact on her.. here is mine...
To Kill A Mockingbird L listed that one also. I don't imagine many people could read that and not be impacted by it.
1984 I did find the whole 'Big Brother' concept very interesting and creepy. But the REAL reason this had such an impact on me was more than the entertainment of the novel it - this book helped me graduate HS. Literally. I was a horrible student in HS. I had the same English teacher for Sophmore and Senior English, so she was very familiar with my sloppy study habits and last minute work. She gave everyone the chance to replace one test grade by reading 1984 and taking a test on it - the only catch was that you HAD to make an A on the test, and she would replace one of our test grades with a 100%. Having failed one test already I knew I had to do this. So I grabbed the book and read it and made a 94% on the test. I was the ONLY person to pass this extra credit test. And.. thanks to that test I made a 70 for that 6 weeks which was exactly what I need to keep my passing average for that year. I personally think that the teacher just could not stand the thought of me being in her class for yet another year so she made sure I passed. ;o) What ever it was, I'm thankfull.
Podkayne of Mars by Robert Heinlein A scifi novel written back in the 60's about an adolesent girl and her family. It's written kind of like her journal with some additions by her brother. LOL. I loved this novel, she was such a strong independent character. I read it when I was just starting HS.
Another Book by Robert Heinlein I can not remember the title.. I can't remember if it was Friday or another book... he wrote so many and I read just a few of them... This one was about a futuristic society of perfect people, except for this one woman who was over weight and all and was generally shunned by her peers. She was lonely, isolated and jaded. She get's an amazing opportuity to change it all and put her conciousness into a perfect body.. a mechanical body so to speak... and she does... but for a price. It's a great book... and it made me really think about how life is what you make it... even thoes who look perfect, or like they have a perfect life, have their own issues to deal with. Kind of a 'grass is always greener on the other side' book.... except.. not exactly.. It was a very enjoyable book.
Well for the last one.. I have to be like L and give several
'Dead Zone', 'Cujo' and 'Christine' by Stephen King these books made me afraid of the closet, realize that even the most benign can be deadly and be careful who you fuck with, karma balancing can be a bitch... My nightmares became more interesting after these books ;o) Thanks Stephen..
The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress by Heinlein Politics suck, what ever planet you live on
Tale of Two Cities by Dickens One of the few books that was 'required reading' in HS, that I loved.
Daughters of Copper Woman I can't remember who wrote this, it's a Native American book that explains the beginnings of humanity. It all started with a woman. ;o) I did not finish this book - it was very odd, but the reason it made an impact was how it explained the origins of men. The first man was called Snot Boy. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Well there it is, the list of crap that has helped to form my little intelectual being. hehehe... weird isn't it. Some days I realize that my literary interests are basically akin to McDonalds fries and a Big Mac or Twinkies and a bag of chips. I'd like to expand my horizons and reach for something more like a 5 course gourmet meal, but I think I'd even be happy moving up to something like meatloaf and mashed potatoes. hmmm...... food symbolism... I think I better go make lunch ;o)

L - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! on the furries thing. I had read the subsequent articles on that and was quite creeped out. Hubby and I had a few dialogues (and laughs) on that subject also. Just a note... Do not go to the sites linked in any of the articles... it's just more than any one fairly normal person needs to know about that subject... *shudders*
I will post the Honey Cake recipe. This one does have the spices you mentioned, it tastes more like a spice cake, but it's very good.
Thank you for more illustrations! I absolutly love them. I've totally changed my mind as to what I'm going to paint on the stool I am painting. Instead of flowers and butterflies I'm going to put some fairy story illustrations! I know my kids will LOVE them. I'll take pictures when I finish them.
I loved your list of books.. I'll have to do that also.. I need to put some thought into it though so I don't come off as a completly uneducated oaf though. I have always been curious about I, Vampire. I will have to look for it. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite books also. I don't read much fiction so my book list might look pretty lame, but we'll see...
Sorry the movie was such a disapointment.. I do get pissed when I read a fabulous book only to be completly let down by the movie. Congo was like that. I loved the book, and the movie was soooo horrible... so blatantly obvious that it was someone in a gorilla suit! Sheesh... I've never seen any other movies based on Michael Chriton (sp?) books after that.. in fact... I was so offended that he would sell out such a good book that I've never read another of his books. *sigh* I loved his medical thrillers...
A - hehehehehe.. you guys.. furries... hahahahahaha! That might help with the birth control issue! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ok.. I'm way to ammused by that. Smack me.
OK, this is how my weekend went. (if you give a damn that is! HAHAHAHA!)
Saturday: go to work, have a pretty good day at work. Get home about 3 pm, we walk to the lake to feed the ducks. So we are standing at the edge of the lake ready to start tossing pieces of bread in the water and this HUGE duck waddles over to us - RIGHT up to us. They all start walking up to us. I start laughing, and say that we are going to get mugged by the ducks! So we are laughing and thowing the bread out for them, most are hopping in the water to get the bread and that HUGE duck is still just standing there, giving us this look.. not a cute look but a demanding more bread look. I take a big hunk and toss it in his direction. It goes over his head, he goes for it like a dog. I just burst out laughing. And when we are done feeding the ducks, they won't leave us. HAHAHAHA.. I was almost afraid they would follow us home. We walk home, start talking about symbolism (goes to another conversation we had earlier that day - talking about raisins and celery.. to get a raise in salary...) and I say I hope that the ducks aren't some kind of symbolism, hopeing that we aren't headed for a flock of FUCKS soon. More laughs. Later friends came over for a game (geek, geek, geek) and that was fun. Much laughter. I tell them about 11:45 pm that it's time to start wraping it up because I have to work in the morning. At 12:30 AM, the game is over but people are still just talking so I say "All right people! Last call! You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here!" and they leave. Sheesh!
Sunday: I get up, take a shower, grab some breakfast and head back to the bathroom to dry my hair. I bend over to pick something up and go to stand up, but I can't. I have much pain in my back. I can hardly move. I do finally work my way to the floor, a hands and knees positon then up to siting then standing and manage to go wake hubby, tell him I hurt my back.. get me pain pills or something and to call into work for me. He does, he's such a good man. Poor guy was sooo asleep, I felt bad about waking him. We accomplish our goals, then I go back to bed. Blessed sleep. I wake sometime after 1 pm, have some lunch and head back to bed, hubby joins me for a nap. I awaken much later.. we discuss dinner. I am feeling much better. I hate having these muscle spasms in my back like this though... I go visit a friend for a little bit, and on the way back I notice a huge ammount of FROGS on the road around the lake. So when I get back I tell hubby, who is listening to the foot ball game on the radio, that we HAVE to walk to the lake so I can look at all the frogs.. (I like frogs...) So we do. He thinks I'm nuts, but we go. I start picking up the frogs in the road. He's surprised because they are being so docile and just letting me pick them up. I start joking that this is the Frog Rescue project as I'm picking up frogs and putting them in the grass, telling them to head back to the lake. We walk for a little while as I rescue little frogs and toss them back toward the lake (they were just sitting there in my hand for the most part.. just blinking at me... hubby said some were just suicidal..) As we get to a bridge a bunch of frogs suddenly start hopping from one side of the side walk to the other. A herd of frogs. it was weird. Then back home to watch Election.. which was a funny but bizarre movie......
thats my lame-o weekend...
And for L - here is the recipe for Honey Cake
2 Eggs, Separated
1/4 C of white sugar
1/2 C of Honey
3 TBS of oil
1 1/2 C of flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1 1/2 tsp instant coffee granules
1/2 C hot water
Directions"
Mix coffee in hot water and let cool.
In large bowl, beat the yolks with the sugar. Add the oil and the honey. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Sift and measure the flour. Combine with other dry ingredients. Add these dry ingredients alternately with the coffee to the honey mixture, stirring only until blended. Do not overmix.
Whip egg whites until stiff. fold in three aditiions into batter. Pour into greased pan.
Bake at 325 for 35 to 40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into the middle of cake comes out clean.
OK, that's it. I didn't use the coffee granules, I don't really like coffee, but I did like the cake. It kind of tastes like a spice cake. I liked this recipe - it seems like a good one to add things to, maybe carrots...
well must run.. sleep... again.. lol
