Please Pass The Prozac

This morning I got the e-mail below from my cousin. I don't know the man involved in the accident. He is a very dear friend of my cousin. I'm assuming he's in his 20's like her. So very tragic. My heart goes out to them. My G*d bring healing to this family.

Sisters

Yesterday on my way home I stopped in a store I frequent more than I probably should. Back when The Tiny Terrorists were little I used to walk to the store with one in a stroller and one holding on. We'd go there at least once a week for little things, a lot of times just to break up the monotony of day to day life with two kids under 5 and to tire them out so they'd take a nap.

Over the past 5 years I've lived here and gone to that store I've gotten to know two ladies who work there. They are sisters, both in their mid to late 50's. They have always reminded me of my sister D and me. They fuss, they tease each other, they laugh a lot, they are very different and they love each other. Just like D and I.

I saw one of the sisters yesterday and made sure to check out in her line. I hadn't talked to either sister in a while so I told this one I was happy to see her then asked about her sister. Her broad smile melted as she told me "She's not well at all." My stomach dropped as she told me that her sister had a stroke. She told me that she and their other sister were taking care of her now. This news really struck me, not just because I like the sisters very much but because they remind me of what D and I joke that we will be like in 20 or so years.

Puppy Love

My dear friend Mystic has 4 dogs. I'm not a dog person, but I do like her dogs. 3 of them are little wiener dogs and ya know, wiener dogs are just cute. I like her dogs because they aren't all jump up on you and get in your face dogs. My favorite of her dogs is Hunter. Hunter is her oldest and most un-dog-like dog. He's kind of catlike in his aloof manner at times. It's probably because he's old and just doesn't have the energy anymore, or he just might not give a fuck anymore. I call him Grandpa Hunter because he's old and cantankerous and he reminds me of an old NY Jewish man. I can honestly imagine that dog with spectacles on, reading the Times and eating a bagel at a Kosher deli. Sadly poor Grandpa Hunter is unwell. He's old and his heart is giving him problems. Dear Mystic is understandably distraught. I'm sad for her. I had planned to go to TRF this weekend and stay at Mystic's house, but my plans didn't work out so I'm not going. I feel very guilty about not going because this is the SPCF fund raiser breakfast and I wanted to help out again this year (it was incredibly fun last year... except the potato peeling.). Now that Grandpa Hunter is sick, I feel even worse about not being able to help out.

If you are going to TRF this weekend, take a moment to go by, get breakfast and make a donation. All proceeds go to Lone Star Multiple Sclerosis - and since so many of our fairemily have MS, it's a cause most of us should be able to stand behind. If you are feeling really generous (with time or money), contact Queen Mystic or Princess Heart to see how you can help out and make this fundraiser a huge success. This year they will be serving tasty breakfast tacos between rows 1-3, starting at 7:00 A.M. Remember, breakfast is the MOST import meal of the day and giving of ones self is the best way to feed the soul. Why not do both at the same time? GO TO THE SPCF FUNDRAISER BREAKFAST!

I know, so damn cheerful today!
Please Help If You Can

My cousin just passed this along to me:

As most of you are already aware, Weldon is in the hospital right now with a pretty serious motorcycle accident that happened Saturday night.

He was hit by an SUV on Frankford and Dallas Tollway and flew 50 feet off his bike. He is in ICU with a lacerated liver, lacerated kidney, bleeding on the brain with a shunt inside his skull to help the swelling, and his right foot has been amputated. His knee is completely gone, his leg has more than a few pins in it, and they are in the process of trying to save the remainder of his leg.

As of about an hour ago when I left the hospital, he is stable and we are all keeping our spirits up and the prayers are 24/7. If you could though, we need you to go and donate blood for him. You can go to your local blood center, like Carter Blood Care, and tell them you are donating for Weldon Latham at Baylor of Dallas. It doesn't matter what blood type you are either. For every pint that becomes available to the blood centers, they reserve a pint in their blood bank for Weldon. So please please please donate for him, and if you can't for some reason, at least keep him in your prayers.... he is still bleeding and needs everybody to help with the donations and prayers.

If you could, please pass this on to your friends and family members also.... we need all the help we can get. I love this man to death and need every ones support to get him back home and back to being the same old Weldon that we all know and love. I am up there each day and will have updates if anybody needs them..... just let me know.

God bless you all.

This is just a better photo of Bret's birthday cake. It kicks ass.

mmmm now I want some CAKE!
The Cat Is Back!

Ya know, when I said I'd take a photo of my cat EVERY DAY, what I meant was EVERY DAY that I GAVE A SHIT to take a photo. Which to be honest isn't EVERY DAY since the damn cat generally doesn't do much more than sleep on the couch.

You'll notice that Sunshine has some lovely eggs next to here, apparently she's practicing to take over for the Easter Bunny.

What? Don't hate me because the voices only talk to me!
Post Cards From Paris

A vacation in the city of lights wouldn't be complete without a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Okay, fine, you too.

Could you at least TRY to smile?

Pets too? Come on people!

Of course you have to have the obligatory group shot.

Well actually these are more minis I painted for Sarge. I think they came out pretty darn good.

Horray For Hookers

Conversation relayed to be in the Wally World while looking at the pimp hats in the Halloween sextion. Apparently someone felt the pimp stuff was degrading to women. This person said: "I worked as a ho and there wasn't any man with a feathered hat coming to collect money. Not anyone coming out of a Cadillac Deville wearing gold plated goldfish platforms either."

Later -

Me: Awww damn, there's something wrong with these hose.
Her: Oh, why do you have to say ho?
Me: What? Whats up with you standing up for prostitute rights tonight?
Most Inappropriate Statement...

A coworker of mine was telling about when her daughter had her baby this weekend. I just have to share one thing she told me because I almost fell over laughing.

Her: I lifted up the blanket to check and then I looked at Melanie* and said "Melanie, I thought you shaved!" and then she said "I do mom!" Then I realized the baby was crowing, but for a second I thought "My goodness the doctors going to have a hard time finding the baby through all that hair."

hehehehehe

*name changed to protect myself from getting my ass kicked if they were to see this. ;)
What A Great Weekend!

Ah well I won't bore you with the details but it included the Tiny Terrorist at 6 Flags, me working then me not working, Bruce Willis, more minis to paint, comic books, movie and new reading material. See... perfect.

Deadlines

I actually like deadlines. I'm such a procrastinator that I NEED deadlines to kick me into gear. I have several things I have to complete with fast approaching deadlines. It's exciting. Pictures and all when projects are completed. Suffice to say, I can not take on anything else without taking up a crack addiction to keep me awake for days at a time. I'm rather cheap so I think I'll pass on the addiction and try to keep myself organized and focused. heh... That just made my ADD laugh.

Well I need to go read a comic book!

Random Crap

Sunshine discusses politics.

Sunshine explains astrophysics to me... or tries anyway.

Sunshine doesn't think the 'Dave's not home' joke is funny. No sense of humor!

Sunshine thinks I should shut the fuck up and feed her.

I got the issues mostly figured out with my camera.

Apparently my youngest will not spell SHIT on her spelling test today. This morning she spelled SHE correctly right off. I'm mildly disapointed.

Yesterday as we went over the spelling words more and she kept spelling she as shit, Supergirl was listening and said "She spelled sh...it... SHIT!" Which made me do the most inappropriate thing as a parent. I burst out laughing. Then told her not to say that. I rock.

Spelling Curse Words For 1st Graders

I was just going over spelling words with Cabbage Patch. Her list includes it words... (ie sit, fit, hit...) and some other words like for, and, she, etc. She's really got it through her head that the it words are for this week. This exchange just now happened:

ME: Spell SHE.
Her: S.....H...... IT!
ME: *snicker* No, SHE.

Now how bad am I that I sort of hope she writes SHIT on her spelling test tomorrow?

The Cat Is BACK!

Doing what she usually does... nap.

Now the sofa is eating her. She was napping so vigirously that she didn't realize she had slid down between the sofa and the coushion.

Oh no! The sofa swallowed the cat! Shoot, I hope it doesn't end up with a hairball.

Okay, that's all I got. Sorry people. I'll post something later.

Painted Frogs!

Homework Hell

I've been fussing with the Tiny Terrorists about doing their homework. Earlier I mentioned to K that I wished it would be QUIETER around here and he said "Hey there there is learning going on." and I said "Yeah I'm learning that all this noise is giving me a fucking headache."

Then later my youngest just made me laugh, her spelling word is grit she has to make a sentence with the word she said "I ate the grits!" Such a southern girl.
Camera Issues....

My camera is acting wonky. I think it has something to do with Tiny Terrorist activites - so I'm not able to get a photo of Sunshine today.

Instead I have a photo of the some of the minis I've been painting for Bruce Willis. I'm rather pleased with them. Hopefully the batteries will completely charge soon and I'll get photos of the rest of them to post.

Not My Cat

But damn funny.
