Friday Already???

Wow, time flies when it's busy at work. Cakes and stuff I meant to post yesterday. I'll write in the words and stuff after work.

LATER:

Sheesh... It's after 6 pm, I've only been home about 30 minutes. I keep hearing "Mamma! Super Girl won't let me be RAVEN!" "Get off you dweebs!" "Leave me alone!". *whispers* I hear little people.

Work has suddenly gotten REALLY busy. It's great for me, but damn, I'm tired. Tomorrow I have to open the bakery and get the inventory that arrives tomorrow morning (50 pieces) and do all the cakes for Saturday and Sunday. And blah, blah, blah, you don't care. You just come here for a virtual sugar buzz. I can see it in your eyes.

Fine... have your cake.

Purple poodle cupcakes.
Mmmmmmm chocolate... (said in Homer Simpson voice).
This cake sold in 2 hours. Damn it. Now I need something ELSE for the display case.
I keep practicing on those giant roses.
Still not perfect.
Pink poodle!
Le Woof!
One side of the cabin cake.
A house (cake) so fine even Abe himself would be proud! This was a b-day cake for a little boy having his party at a lodge. The mom was tremendously happy with the results. She had gotten her cakes from the previous decorator who trained me and was a tad worried when informed that that decorator had gone to the new store. It made me happy to know that I had exceeded her expectations. It also reminded me of when the other decorator was teaching me, one day she said "Just don't get better than me." Oops. My bad. ;)

Of All Days To Forget...

My blasted camera! Today I did my cousin's Divorce Cake. And it was AWESOME. I made her promise to take photos of the cake.

No worries, there are other cakes to see. (I grabbed my camera at lunch time.)

I really enjoyed doing this cake.
This would look more like a FOOTBALL if they would have gone with 24 cupcakes. People are so weird.
This cake is actually for a 13 or 14 year old girl. Apparently it's the 'thing' this year for girls this age. How '80's.

I was quite disappointed with the quality of this photo. I guess my flash didn't go off. The lighting in the bakery is so odd, sometimes the flash with go off and other times it won't.

YAWN! Cake...

Not very interesting. But it's CAKE!

Everybody Loves Cake!

Yes, yes, I know this whole pink roses theme is done to death, but it's a damn good seller.
And it is very pretty!
Something NEW!
My first attempt at this style of basket. I think it's lovely. Maybe I'll do the colors a bit different next time I airbrush the basket part. Doing the big roses was kind of a bitch though, our icing isn't as stiff as it needs to be... maybe I should add some Viagra.

56%!!! Darn my lack of guns! Apparently it's time for me to join the NRA and buy me an ass-load of firearms. At least I would not hesitate to shoot a loved one in the head if they became a zombie. Even you Sarge... well... maybe not if you were the kind of zombie from Shaun of the Dead, then I'd just leash you and keep you in cage or something, throw you new comic books every couple of weeks. ;)

I Am Satan

Just ask the Tiny Terrorists. I am Satan and THIS is the house of TORTURE. Being a sadistic omnipresent individual as I am, I have devised an especially torturous task for the Tiny Terrorists. WRITING THANK YOU NOTES! *Sounds of screams by tortured souls, then the sound of whips*

The writing of the thank you notes has taken HOURS and has amassed one of the offspring 4 days of grounding off the Wii. (The other progeny smartly got with the program early on and managed to gain 3 days off her grounding. She's such a suck up at times.)

So to all of you who will be on the receiving end of the torture induced Thank You Notes, please be aware - they were NOT in fact written in the blood of small children (namely the ones who were writing them) nor were any means of restraint actually used (though duct tape was considered) and definitely no physical pain was inflicted (unless you count the throbbing headache I have now). YES, YES there was much writing under duress and LOTS of threats to make the writing happen, but I assure you EVERY FUCKING LETTER in these Thank You Notes are full of deep and heartfelt sentiment. EVERY FUCKING LETTER. REAL EMOTION. Mine and all of them somewhat hostile and directed at my progeny, but what the fuck, it's true emotion from the heart.

And now for...

CAKE!

I love HELLO KITTY! (She doesn't talk back to me)

Saturday Work

Wow, today totally felt like WORK. Well not all of it. I was having fun up until about an hour after I was scheduled to be off. Now I'm tired and thankful tomorrow is a DAY OFF for me. I plan to sleep until noon, get up to eat a samich and go back to bed.

Today was odd in that I had TWO tiered cakes to make. Both birthday cakes.

I forgot to put the BLACK on the cake. Luckily my boss covered for me by saying that as the decorator, I might not have thought black would look good on the cake. The mom was totally in LOVE with the cake.
Black trim probably would have made for a dramatic look.
I just liked this one. The woman showed up an hour early - just as I was starting the cake so I rushed through it. It still looks stunning.
This one is actually kind of fucked up. I was getting WAY tired and sloppy in my work.
I forgot to mark the cake for the top tier so it's not sitting right. I'm hopeful it won't tumble off the top before it gets picked up. (knocking on wood, crossing fingers, wishing on star, etc.)

I actually prefer stacked tiered cakes with 3 or more tiers to have a support down the center. This I did not have time to do unfortunately.

Now I'm tired. If I happen to have trouble sleeping tomorrow, I'll write more.

Trying Not To Break My Arm

After all, who else would pat me on the back if not myself? I kid! I kid! There are plenty of people who would! No wait! Don't stop reading. You know me and the jokes. Now where was I? Oh yes, I was telling you about how great I am... but I digress let me tell you about how someone else said I was great. (Again, I kid!)

Yesterday I had only been at work for maybe half an hour (long enough for the supervisor to express her discontent with me via the written word) when I saw the ever so hot Army guy who ordered a cake from me in December. I figured he needed another cake or he finally remembered to bring me that water bottle I asked him for. Nope. THIS... (look below)

is what he had for me. I was totally blown away and thrilled! (he also brought me that water bottle I asked for) I walked right into my supervisor's office to show her then took it to show to the store director.

So today... I'm still all full of myself. I don't think you can get this stupid smile off my face with a crow bar, and when anyone asks about the self-back-patting, I just say I'm practicing a yoga move. It's all good.

Okay, that's all. I need to go to bed. I have much more to write, but bed calls as work comes early in the morning.

New Year Cakes!

Ahhh a new year with a new twist on one of my favorites.
I'm happy to NOT be doing any more holiday cakes for the moment.
A variation on the flame cake I made for D to take to her dinner party last week.
I think the one I made for D was prettier but what the hell, this was something NEW!

Here's To A New Year!

Last night was by far the BEST New Year's Eve I've had in a hell of a long time. Good food, good friends, fun games and my sweetie with me. 2008 is going to be a fabulous year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Santa Baby...

Cats hate Christmas.
Said something about it being a dog holiday and leaving a present in peoples shoes if we didn't get the stupid hat off her.

Hope you all got BETTER pressies than that. ;) Happy Christmas to all!

JC's B-Day Cake

I finally did it, I made the baby J his birthday cake. I hated EVERY fucking moment of doing that. And not because I'm Jewish, just because it seemed so WRONG! I hope I don't get struck by lightening for that.
And now something less offensive. It's a thank you cake ordered by one of the local Catholic churches. I was very pleased with how it turned out.

Okay, enjoy the CAKE photos. The computer is up and running again, I promise there will be MORE CAKE photos to come.

Now I must go to WORK.

Chicken Little

Tonight Cabbage Patch was sitting next to me... or should I say on me, and when I complained she said "I'm keeping you warm!" i laugh and then say "Oh keeping me warm like a chicken keeps eggs warm?" she responds to the afirmative. She ponders the chicken warming the eggs and then proceeds to lay across me with her arms around my neck telling me that she's my CHICKEN WARMER! I burst out laughing... then gave her a wedgie. Life is good.

AWESOME Cake Of The Week

I made this cake this past Saturday. It was a lot of work but I was pleased with it.
Spacey Can Be Fun

And I don't mean Kevin Spacey, though I'm sure he's a lot of fun in his own right. I myself am spacey enough for anyone as I've been on a LOT of cold medicine to make it possible for me to be in public and give people the urge to spontaniously spray me with Lysol frequently.

And the fun of being on cold medicine and going to work. Woot! Me decorating cakes! YAY! Me taking orders for cakes! Awesome Me driving my sister's car! Woohoo! All things that warning on the side of the box says I shouldn't be doing (no operating heavy machinery or using brain).

Wanna see photos of cakes? Of course you do because otherwise I'll tell you about my cold medicine induced dream about zombies dressed in drag singing karaoke.

heh, the Jewish girl makes Jesus birthday cakes. (actually I am going to HAVE to make a cake that says Happy Birthday Jesus despite the fact that I feel that's rather inappropriate. I mean honestly, what kind of cake would Jesus eat? Does he want buttercream icing or whipped? Who am I to make that kind of decision? And what if his dad doesn't like the cake? You know it's never the kid who has a problem with the cake, it's always the parent.)
Oh no Army of Snow People!

mmmmmm frosting....
