Saturday Cake
Of course it's a wedding cake.

I'm not keen on that shade of purple, but whatever, I'm just paid to make them.
Friday Cake

Outing
I spent the afternoon today in the company of two of my favorite young men in the world. I offered to take them to lunch since myself and the Tiny Terrorists would be in their neck of the woods today around lunch time. Well that and the fact that the Tiny Terrorists were completely entranced by them last night at Cabbage Patch's birthday. Though I had no intentions of just lunch. Oh no, I had something in mind.
I picked them up right around noon and we went for Chinese Buffet. Mmmmmmm. All of the offspring, mine and the ones I borrowed, loved this and there was much chatter and laughter. From there we went on a brief shopping excursion. And then back in the car to head of to... well I had no clue, I just knew that I wasn't ready for the day to end. My plan was to keep the borrowed boys until 3:30 or 4 pm to give there ever so busy daddy time to work uninterrupted so he would have time to see Hellboy II with me tonight.
So we circled the parking lot and I informed them I wasn't ready to take them home and I headed north on the highway. This is where it got really funny. Not knowing exactly where we were going, the GPS was turned on for a consultation. The eldest of the borrowed boys, Red, began pushing things and changing the voice and stuff. We finally stopped when we were almost to my neighborhood and I looked for the cool park.
The park, totally hilarious. I pushed aside my own motherly objections and said yes when the offspring (all of them) asked if they could get wet in the sprayer things on the splash pad at the park. Red was the only who didn't go into the water. My progeny thoroughly enjoyed the notion of getting soaked in their regular clothes. Of course right after that they were all ready to leave. Tee hee. Not so much, I told them they had to wait until they were at least partially dry so as to not soak the seats in my car. Oh dear, they would have to actually PLAY for a while.

Here's a photo of them playing some strange balance game or maybe it was some kind of torture... a land version of walking the plank? who knows.
It was at this time that a woman who was on the next bench expressed her sympathy to me about having 4 children. I really wanted to lie and tell her that they really weren't that bad, I'd always wanted 4 after all. I smiled and admitted that only two were mine, the others were loaner kids. Made me sad for just a moment that they weren't mine, I always wanted 4 kids and boys at that. Yes I know, sounds crazy and most days I'd agree, but I'm a little crazy anyway. Not that I'll be having anymore kids. No matter I'll just borrow these guys when I can. (Though if their parents ever get the urge to sell them on EBay, please contact me first, I'd like to make an offer prior listing.)
Eventually everyone was dry enough to get back in the car. It was time for ICE CREAM! This of course required a stop at Braums before dropping them off at their casa.
Some of my favorite lines from the day:
Said by Red or Blondie: When are we going home?
Me: When your dad pays the ransom.
Me: Ohhhhhhhh! Please don't do that! Your father AND your mother will kill me if I return you with anything broken.
Him: *Laughter at my distress*
Blondie: So what if you get back to where you were supposed to turn and then turn the wrong direction again?
Me: Then it will be a typical day of driving with me.
*Sigh* I really did hate to have it all end.
Later...
Saw HELLBOY II. It ROCKS!
The Eyes Have It!
Cabbage Patch had her eye exam today. She too needs glasses. Though she just had to be different, she's farsighted instead of nearsighted like the rest of us. Just for reading. Pretty Blue frames were her choice, Barbie frames. So very her. Now my only question is how do you get a 7 year old to remember her reading glasses? A nice chain to hold them decorated with Fruit Loops? Oy.
Speaking of Oy, Super Girl has taken to saying oy. But not in the typical Jewish way of "Oy gevalt, you would not believe that brother-in-law of mine. Such a smuck." (which is actually surprising considering the sheer volume of whining she does) No it's more like common British slang as in "Oy! Where's my beer you prat!" It amuses me to no end.
Solution
I've got it solved as far as moving. I don't have to. K will move in with Blue Eyes and D will move in to his old room. She pays part of the rent which will make this place more affordable than just about anywhere else. Best of all, I don't have to pack every fucking thing and move for another year. It works out for both of us. Let's just hope we don't kill each other.
Long day at work. So much crap on add tomorrow that I had to do today. I don't really mind unless I've been so busy with non cake things that I have to stay 3 hours after my normally scheduled time to finish.
Blah, nothing to write about. Just tired. Go look at CAKE!
CAKE!
Hot pink and orange. I really like it.
This is Cabbage Patch's birthday cake for her party tomorrow. Kung Fu Birthdays ROCK!
Late Holiday Recap
On the 4th I joined K and the progeny at Blue Eye’s house. Blue Eyes being K’s fiancĂ©. His partner. An absolutely wonderful and charming man. The evening was animated and intimate, just a few friends, Blue Eyes’ Aunt and his brother, me, K and the progeny. I enjoyed myself despite my not having wanted to partake in the festivities (I wanted to stay home, strip down to my undies and geek out with some online gaming).
The food was wonderful (I luvs me some grilled meat), the company was delightful (Blue Eyes 88 year old aunt was sooooooo darling! I wanted to stuff her in my back pack and bring her home with me) and it left me with a warm feeling of love inside.
See, Blue Eyes and I were in the kitchen while I was making the garlic cheese spread, chatting about K moving in and how I was always welcome in their house. We brought up the kids and I asked him if he liked the Father’s Day cards the girls made him, he said he did then he said “My step kids” with a smile. I nearly burst into tears at that moment. I was so touched by how happy that made him. So my progeny are lucky, they have two dads who love them. Maybe some day they’ll have another one.
It was a good day.
Other news… I have a freaking UTI. SUCK!
Happy Birthday Cabbage Patch
Hot dog octopi for dinner.
Cinderella cupcakes.
The Eve Of A Birthday
Cabbage Patch turns 7 tomorrow. Her birthday makes me a wee bit sad. My youngest is not a baby anymore. Yes I know, that's so cliche and 'MOM'. Still, there is a bit of remorse that my baby is really a sassy little kid now.
I'm introspective tonight. The kids are gone and the casa is empty save me and the pets (who aren't very good conversationalist and cheat at cards). I'm not much for television so it's just me and my thoughts. Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking, so much change ahead. All of it good, most of it scary.
Soon I'll be ending my marriage, that's really been over for the past 7 years and really should have been ended 4 years prior to that (what can I say, I don't give up easily).
7 years separated. 7 years in limbo. 4 years in marriage counseling. 4 years of acting like I was happy for the world to see. 4 years of trying to fix something that was irreparable and blaming myself. A lot of self examination and wonder why I can't seem to make these things work, really what is wrong with me... no not the K thing, he's gay, that's no one's fault.
And not it's time to move forward. Alone. Which is frightening and comforting at the same time. I've been alone for a long time just now it'll all be my responsibility. I look forward to that part and again, I'm terrified that I'll fuck up royally. I can't fuck up, too much is riding on it, too many people depending on me.
It's days like these that I do wish I enjoyed just watching mindless television shows just to numb my brain and make it stop thinking. So many whirling thoughts, so much to consider, so many calculations... Damn K for changing his plans at the last minute. The Tiny Terrorists were supposed to be with me tonight but he decided to take them with him... so... nothing to distract me from myself. Alone sucks sometimes.
Ah well, it'll all work out.
Silly Children
Supergirl is so enamored with her new glasses it's just ridiculous. So if you see her... mention them.
Asking the kids if they remembered the Alamo when they visited it last year with Aunt D and getting blank stares. Then asking if they remembered the hot dog vendor and getting strong affirmatives. Saying "The hot dog vendor was across from the Alamo." and hearing "Oh, that place. Yeah it was fine."
Having told Cabbage Patch the package we received in the mail last week was probably a birthday present and having it turn out to be the cremated remains of Dusty the cat. Making up for that by letting her open the pressie from Uncle Mike today. Yes she was more excited by a book about mermaids (that she can finally read on her own!)than the dead cat.
Having the offspring tell the woman at the leasing office that our cat died and we had her burned.
Never a dull moment.
To See Or Not To See
Today Supergirl and I had our eye appointments. Nothing surprising there, I'm still VERY nearsighted. Supergirl is slightly nearsighted with a slight astigmatism so she's getting glasses. And she couldn't be more THRILLED. We pick them up today after noon. The Dr. said she doesn't have to wear them except for watching TV and reading but she is determined to wear them all the time. Silly kid. I'm glad there won't be any trouble with getting here to wear them.
Watched Batman:Gotham Knight last night and it was very cool. Next week Hellboy II: The Golden Army. I can not wait. This is turning out to be a geektacular summer!
Okay, off to bed, it's been such a great night.
My cousin Shannon's birthday cake.
She's always wanted a Care Bear cake.
Saturday Snippets
Promotion... approved by store director. Paperwork going in on the 12th, barring any bureaucratic hangups, will be effective immediately... not sure about pay raise though.
Coworker... pissed off beyond reason. Feels slighted. Feels SHE should have been offered promotion. Not so, not so. Sorry, didn't mean to piss you off, I was just doing my job... something you should try.
Counter Offer... Holy crap! Trip to other store to fetch cake thing. Ended up helping with two cakes because I just couldn't bear to see them done sloppy. End of visit offered same position, then says "I'll pay you more." Shocked, flattered, humbled. Not going to take it, but could be good leverage if needed.
Last night... dinner with the happy people. Lovely time, good company, fabulous food. Proved I am a Geek Goddess. Debated Batman with the Anti-Jerry, explained to Retired Accountant why Batman is the bomb and why Batman Begins is THE BEST Batman movie (I can't wait for Batman, The Dark Knight) and why there is no Robin in the next movie. Take a moment to reflect on the comic book movies released and being released. Sense of de ja vu, had that same discussion on Thursday with Sarge.
2 hours spent tonight making macros for online gaming stuff. So damn cool. Took bath and finished reading Batman comic book.
Now I need sleep, need to get up earlier than usual early to call Japan before work.
Happy Independence Day
Eat some CAKE! ;)
Stay safe.
Outstanding Day
Today I had my evaluation at work. I'm an outstanding employee. My manager wants to start mentoring me to be the assistant manager of the bakery. She said she was recommending me for a 'substantial raise' as well. I won't lose my decorating duties (thankfully) and I should be getting some help with the non-decorated items that I do (YAY!). I'm very happy about all of this, management experience will be valuable for me when I have my own cake shop.
What else... I got a sweet card in the mail from a friend with a coupon for a free Starbucks Iced Coffee. Mmmmmm....
Also... my youngest is nearly finished with summer school and guess what? She actually LEARNED! I got all teary when I dug through her backpack to see her papers and saw a paper with actual sentences on it! She's about to turn 7 and though it pains me to see my cuddly baby growing up (Super Girl quit being a cuddly baby as soon as she could crawl at 5 months) I find it amazing to see how she's growing up.
Can't forget... The other night the girls and I were watching What Not To Wear (oh hush, I don't watch it regularly. I resorted to it because the Tiny Terrorists were rambunctious that night and they LOVE WNTW, so I knew it would make then sit the hell down and stop trying to kill each other), after it was over Cabbage Patch says "you need to cut my hair." I said "Yeah I know, I need to trim it, maybe I'll put in some layers." She said "No, I want it short." Then she motioned right below her ear. Which of course made my heart stop for just a second as I love long hair. I asked her if she was sure and she insisted several times that she was. So I cut it, just to chin length, not as short as she indicated. And... I love it, she looks like a little doll.
And... I'm going to head out soon to play some games (probably Magic). See... outstanding day.
So now... here is CAKE!!
This was in the display case, it's sold now. Lots of PINK!
More Cake!
This is a photo of a cake I did this past Saturday.
It was a Barbie themed party.
I matched the designs on the napkin.
I wasn't there when the customer picked it up, but I'm told that they loved it.
NaBloPoMo
The theme for the month of July is FOOD. Being a cake decorator, I think I'll have no problem keeping with that theme. Now let's hope that I can actually have time to post every day.
Hot Pink Wedding Cake
Okay, it's not TOTALLY hot pink, but there is HOT PINK! And I LOVE it!
This is their keeper cake. They wanted to be able to serve all the cake to their guests (because they ended up with more people coming to the wedding than first planned and they needed to save some $$$).
This is so OVER the top. It was HUGE and it took about 3 hours to do. What's even better is that this cake was set up on a stand with a little fountain under it. I think this cake turned out lovely and BRIGHT and I just love that the bride went for something so bold and on the edge of being just plain TACKY!
More cake tomorrow!
