Saturday Work
Wow, today totally felt like WORK. Well not all of it. I was having fun up until about an hour after I was scheduled to be off. Now I'm tired and thankful tomorrow is a DAY OFF for me. I plan to sleep until noon, get up to eat a samich and go back to bed.
Today was odd in that I had TWO tiered cakes to make. Both birthday cakes.
I forgot to put the BLACK on the cake. Luckily my boss covered for me by saying that as the decorator, I might not have thought black would look good on the cake. The mom was totally in LOVE with the cake.
Black trim probably would have made for a dramatic look.
I just liked this one. The woman showed up an hour early - just as I was starting the cake so I rushed through it. It still looks stunning.
This one is actually kind of fucked up. I was getting WAY tired and sloppy in my work.
I forgot to mark the cake for the top tier so it's not sitting right. I'm hopeful it won't tumble off the top before it gets picked up. (knocking on wood, crossing fingers, wishing on star, etc.)
I actually prefer stacked tiered cakes with 3 or more tiers to have a support down the center. This I did not have time to do unfortunately.
Now I'm tired. If I happen to have trouble sleeping tomorrow, I'll write more.

Trying Not To Break My Arm
After all, who else would pat me on the back if not myself? I kid! I kid! There are plenty of people who would! No wait! Don't stop reading. You know me and the jokes. Now where was I? Oh yes, I was telling you about how great I am... but I digress let me tell you about how someone else said I was great. (Again, I kid!)
Yesterday I had only been at work for maybe half an hour (long enough for the supervisor to express her discontent with me via the written word) when I saw the ever so hot Army guy who ordered a cake from me in December. I figured he needed another cake or he finally remembered to bring me that water bottle I asked him for. Nope. THIS... (look below)
is what he had for me. I was totally blown away and thrilled! (he also brought me that water bottle I asked for) I walked right into my supervisor's office to show her then took it to show to the store director.
So today... I'm still all full of myself. I don't think you can get this stupid smile off my face with a crow bar, and when anyone asks about the self-back-patting, I just say I'm practicing a yoga move. It's all good.
Okay, that's all. I need to go to bed. I have much more to write, but bed calls as work comes early in the morning.

New Year Cakes!
Ahhh a new year with a new twist on one of my favorites.
I'm happy to NOT be doing any more holiday cakes for the moment.
A variation on the flame cake I made for D to take to her dinner party last week.
I think the one I made for D was prettier but what the hell, this was something NEW!
Here's To A New Year!
Last night was by far the BEST New Year's Eve I've had in a hell of a long time. Good food, good friends, fun games and my sweetie with me. 2008 is going to be a fabulous year.
