Cake for Breakfast!

I'm behind on posting. Been busy, lots to write, but no time to make it sound coherent... so here's CAKE!

My offspring made this while I pounded in grommets. The ruined grommets are the eyes and ears on the mud art.
The depth of my love for this cake is indescribable. I have yet another one to do tomorrow! YAY for Catholics!
Something for the case.
Blah. White on white.
Black Forest cake.
Something else for the cake. Thought it was kind of ugly and wouldn't sell.
Made it that way intentionally. It sold first.
Luckily I made this also for the case.

Okay off to work now. Iron Man tonight! YAY!!!! I better charge my batteries. ;)

Just Cake

So much to write about, just too tired right now. So... here is CAKE! All my cake photos from Friday until today, which is by no means ALL of the cake I decorated, just the ones I took photos of.

I don't know why my camera turned the purple roses blue, but it did! I didn't like this cake at all.
Whereas I LOVED this cake!
And so did the woman who ordered it. She was SURPRISED it was in the shape of a skateboard, she just expected a skateboard on it. Well that's what you get when you are VAGUE with me, she just said "SKATEBOARD CAKE". I loved making this.
This is odd. But the customer requested the cupcake puppy facing roses. Odd.
Stacked gift cake. Ho hum.
Pink and green polka dots. For the display case, sold!
Daisies for Mother's Day.
More daisies...
Detecting a theme?
Cupcake daisies for the display case. Just because.
Yet another confirmation cake. By a customer who ordered one the weekend before.
Blue and chocolate swirls. So pretty! It was an order and I liked it so much...
I made one for the display case... SOLD!
And the cool one from today. A chess cake for Sarge. I was rushed so my writing isn't straight. That and my carpal tunnel is acting up something fierce due to my working so much last week.

Okay that's it. Nothing to see here, move along.

Missionary Kitty

more cat pictures

Maybe this is what that damn black tom cat is after.
Finally Friday

Not sure why I was waiting for it to be Friday, it's not like I get the weekend off. Actually Friday is the start of my super busy time. Maybe it's because I just want to get this crap over.

Where to start... I apologize for the fact that this will be ever so random and rambling and truly have no point what-so-ever. I think you like that though, don't you? Your sick like that... I like that in a person.

I got up at the unholy hour of 4 am yet again so I could do some work before I actually go to work. I've done some sewing, made lunches for the Tiny Terrorists and pilfered through their backpacks finding their progress reports and a hidden discipline report for one of them... summer school recommendation for the other. Lovely. As it stands, Super Girl will pass and Cabbage Patch needs summer school. No surprise. I'm still pissed that Cabbage Patch's kindergarten teacher did her such a disservice by promoting her to the 1st grade when she obviously wasn't ready. I will do the Sumer School route and hope she will be ready for 2nd grade by the end of the summer but if not, I'm going to insist she be held back. Watching her struggle and develop a dislike for school work has been frustrating to say the least. Let's not even get into the daily battles over homework - *sheesh*. Super Girl is week in two areas according to her progress report, I send a note to the teacher asking if she needs sumer school. Honestly, I hope she does so they can both be at the same place most of the summer. I know, I'm going to hell for that one, but really, it would do her some good and I wouldn't have to worry about child care until the middle of July. Yes it will suck for both of them for the summer, but I'd rather they get ahead academically than have a neato fun summer. I'm waiting to find out about tuition for sumer school. *fingers crossed that it's not too expensive*

Moving on... There is a black tom cat who keeps showing up at my window bothering Sunshine. I'm not sure how to dissuade this cat from loitering at my window and irritating my geriatric cat, I don't want to be mean but I really don't want to hear him meowing at me in the morning or hear Sunshine get all in a fluff because he has the gall to be alive and be outside her window. Another reason I want him to step off, Monday I left my umbrella outside when I got home, Tuesday I grabbed my umbrella before heading out to work (duh!), when I got to work and was putting my stuff away I got a whiff of eau de cat-piss. I think that little fucker marked my umbrella. I haven't checked again, I stuck it in my cabinet and forgot about it. Hopefully it'll rain soon and I'll get it washed off by nature.

Okay my time is up, I have to get off to work.

Random Thoughts

I'm tired. I have to open the bakery today... and tomorrow. Fucking people taking vacation the week before a 'holiday'. This is putting me behind on the things I have to have ready for this weekend. And I have a WEDDING CAKE for this weekend. A big monstrosity of a cake. Columns I've never done before. I'm panicked. No day off for me this week.

Sold yesterday. I like dots.
And stripes. So behind on other things. Must finish them SOON.
This one is still in the case. Not sure why, I think it's the prettiest. The Tiny Terrorists got invaded.
By LICE. Crisis over now, battle was fought with multiple chemical assaults and a tenacious and constant sweeping of the area. Still nervous of a surprise sneak attack from them. Damn school children!
Wouldn't your mom like a CAKE for Mom's Day?
This is but a small fraction of what I've done so far. I don't like doing holiday crap like this so much. Boring, repetitive, makes me contemplate the crass commercialism of the holiday. Stupid made up holiday. Buy mom a CAKE!
SOLD! More dots...
And stripes!
Color is off for some reason, not motivated to adjust. Thought it wasn't that pretty but sold first. Damn. The case is empty, the freezer probably is too. So much to do, can't work over time, need more arms or something.

I think Sunshine (the cat) is pissed. No more wet food. Didn't know I was out. Kids fed her like half a big can yesterday instead of just a little bit. Disgruntled cat, probably will pee in my purse while I'm at work.

Appleseed Ex Mechina ROCKS. Want to watch it again. Battlestar Gallatica first season checked out last night... damn me for getting hooked on this show in the 3rd (4th?) season! I really wanted to hate that show. When will Torchwood be back on??? Need my aliens and hot people fighting them.

Teacher appreciation week is bullshit. I appreciate them, truly. But a whole fucking week of kids bringing them stuff? Fuck that. I only get one lame ass day. Today is bring something sweet for the teacher day. Thought about sending them with a packet of Splenda for each teacher. But I don't want to waste my Splenda. Tomorrow is 'relaxation day', sending a Valium for each teacher would be great.

Super Girl's first Girl Scout camping trip is this Saturday. So excited and so nervous. Need a flashlight. Forgot. Damn. Cabbage Patch has her first activity with her new troop this Saturday also. Ceramic painting. So cool. Boy Scout trade show this Saturday, have ticket to go. I also have to work. Fuck. Will go in early so I can take off to go to drop off Super Girl and go to Cabbage Patch's activity. Have to skip the trade show, thought Cabbage Patch would love it. Fucking holiday and people taking a week of vacation when we aren't supposed to.

Time to make the donuts. Bye!

Hope You Are A Dick Today!

My dear sweet Super Girl just came up to me and asked what DICK meant. I inwardly cringed and asked her why she needed to know. Then she told me that some boy at school said DICK means 'happy and gay' which made me laugh and I told her NO, DICK doesn't mean HAPPY and GAY. Then... she wanted to know WHAT it DOES mean. And I was stumped. I've always tried to maintain a high level of honesty with my offspring (except with the funnier things, like Yes Aunt D is part Chinese, how else would she know Chinese phrases or brown cows give chocolate milk, white ones give white milk and the black and white ones give lattes... Strawberry milk is an abomination of nature) so I was uncomfortable with the notion of explaining that a DICK is either a penis OR it's a derogatory term to say someone is a jerk, as in 'he is a dick'. Plus I didn't want to encourage my offspring to actually USE that term and such a young age. When she's 17 and telling me that her science teacher is a dick then I'll casually nod in agreement, but at 9 getting a call from school that she was calling some poor kid on the playground a DICK just the thought of it makes hyperventilate. So.. I just went the MOMMY route and told her it wasn't a very nice thing to call someone and changed the subject. ;) Thank the heavens for short attention spans.

Brand New Day!

Yay! It's the start of a new week! And it doesn't seem to suck! Woohoo!

Saturday Stuff

I have a bunch of cake photos which will make up for my lack of blog post as I don't really feel like talking about how I still feel like something had been ripped out of my heart leaving me with a huge void. How I feel terribly inadequate and unattractive. How shitty this past week has been, how I really do want to run away from my life, except that I'd still be me which would defeat the whole process. How I feel ignored and alone. How I'm still angry with K and am feeling taken advantage of. No, I'm not going to discuss any of that, it's pointless and really no one wants to listen to me whine, not even myself, so I'll just smile and you don't have to pretend you care. It's okay, I'm not comfortable discussing negative emotions, mom never approved of that. Let's move on.

Here's CAKE after all.
I may have already posted this photo. I don't really like it. I couldn't locate my wider white ribbon, I've misplaced it and am not motivated nor have time enough to search it out now.
A little something for Cinco de Mayo.
And more... because who can have a fiesta without CAKE???
This photo does not do this cake justice. It is utterly charming. The only thing that would have made it better is if the baby booties were pink.
A photo I was asked to duplicate as CAKE.
And the CAKE! (Yes I know the flowers aren't exact, but that is what the customer requested.)
This cake pisses me off. The woman came in with a plate - pink with paisleys on it and asked me to match the plate. We discussed the options and agreed on the pink base and the paisleys. When she picked up the cake, she didn't like the pink, she said it was too bright. It's a near match to the stupid plates. I wanted to tell her where she could put that cake, BUT I love my job so I didn't.
Another request to match something.
And the result. Minor color changes to avoid copyright infringement.
Which brings us to the first of the Catholic Cakes. This is my least favorite of all of them, which is not to say that I dislike this one at all, it's just not as FABULOUS as the others.
This one is my favorite, a first communion cake. Months ago I did this cake for her except in pink and white for a baby girl's baptism. I did this one a tad different and I love how it turned out.
I loved it so much I suggested to this person to have the Eucharist on their confirmation cake. I added a cross to the other side when they arrived as it looked really bare without it. They loved this cake.
My final cakes for Saturday. A match set.
The woman who ordered this was at the party with last weekends pink and black stacked gift cake. She loved it so much she came in to order her daughter's birthday cake and this is what she wanted.
This is the little one for the birthday girl. I love these cakes.

Thank You All

To all who left me a comment and emailed me, thank you for your kind words. To the few who called me, thank you for your kind words as well. To the two I messaged on IM, thank you for taking time from your busy day to listen (read) while I cried and typed. To my aunt and uncle who took Dusty for treatment, there are no words to express the extreme amount of gratitude I feel. Thank you seems so very inadequate, but thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I'm still very sad, it's been a crappy week and it's not getting better. I'm angry at K and feeling like a petulant child right now. He's going to see his boyfriend tonight (AGAIN this week) and I haven't gone anywhere other than work this week. Yes I'm being bratty and pissy about it. Mostly because there is little chance going out over the weekend and I'm not likely to be able to do what I'd like to do until maybe Wednesday of next week. *sigh* no chance of seeing Iron Man until next week, no Magic until next week. Yes, I know, I'm being petty, I'd just like a night off. Enough of that, I have to go to work now.

Ode to Cats

Cabbage Patch wrote cat poetry
(I would scan it so you could see it hand written in her charming first grade scrawl but my scanner is not functional. SUCK!)

My Cats

Growls like a lawn mower!
Shine bright like the sun
Dusty is like the fine dust
Sunshine shines bright like
the orange and yellow rays
of the sun.
I love my cats!

I suspect that this was written last week sometime as she knows it by heart. The timing of when she brought her poem home is just ironically sad though. Dusty is like the fine dust now.

Wednesday's Child Is Full Of Woe..

Today I definitely am (and yes I was born on a Wednesday). This morning Dr. Grandma called to let me know the prognosis of Dusty. Not good. The tumor is a very aggressive and fast moving cancer, a heart murmur and some cardiac issues (probably from the cancer). The options were to do surgery to remove the tumor and let her live out her life or euthanize her now. Before deciding I was told that the vet felt they could remove the tumor easily but that they were not so hopeful about her chances of surviving anesthesia due to her advanced age and her heart issues. I told Dr. Grandma that I'd have to discuss this with K since this was his cat but more than likely we'd have Dusty euthanized as it seemed the most humane thing to do. K concurred that it was in the best interest for Dusty to not suffer.

So it's done. I gave the order to have our sweet little cat put to sleep. I know it's really the best thing to do yet I still feel incredible guilt and remorse. And I'm sad because I loved my cat.

Above is my favorite photo of Dusty in her ruffled purple collar. Taken 5 or so years ago. She loved that collar. Below is a photo I took of her this past December, she hated the Santa hat.

I'll miss you sweet cat.

Trying Tuesday

I guess things are better, I'm still emotionally wrung out. Last night I took my cat Dusty (actually K's cat, but like the kids we have joint ownership of the felines) to my aunt/the girls grandma, Dr. Grandma. Poor kitty has this lump on her side that kept getting BIG, and then it... eh... I'll spare you the disgusting details. Dr. Grandma is going to get Dusty (pictured above) fixed up at the vets and give her back to me. I'm thankful because I'm so fucking broke what with legal fees and car issues and buying food for the Tiny Terrorists that there was no way I could afford to take her to the vet. So... I begged and since she's awesome, she said yes. Now I wait to hear how my poor lumpy cat is doing.

Other than that... I'm stressed, very stressed. People are pissed at me, I'm over extended, not sleeping well and not eating. Life is GOOD! HAH! I worked today and don't feel like I got shit done (I didn't), AND one of my long time regular customers was unhappy with my work today. *sigh*

Speaking of work, here is the CAKE you want.. it's not disappointing at all (though one is just fucking weird looking, customer request).

So weird. This is white cake and has a strawberry filling, she wanted the dots on the side and wanted it to not look feminine. She specified exactly 6 strawberries were to go on it on the left hand side and the writing on the right - oh and the borders and writing are all done in fudge. I don't like writing in the fudge, it's thick and hard to control so the writing always looks sloppy.
This was in the case for about an hour. I put another one in that was pink and green dots and it sold today - I forgot to take photos of it.
