L - I'm still looking up that painting... There are a lot of artist from Spain! Could it be Rubens? It sort of looks like his style, but nothing in his biographies indicates he ever had a 'mad' period. I looked up Piccasso because I believe he DID have a 'mad' period.. but I don't think that's his. The only other Spanish painter who had a 'mad' period that I know of was Salvado Dali' (but then again... some would argue there was no end to his 'mad' period...). I visited the Salvador Dali' Museum In St. Petersburg, FL about 4 years ago (it was FABULOUS!), and though he did do many paintings that were not surreal, that was early in his painting... well before he really became a freak. Another hint please! Maybe time period...
