Ahhhh now I will do the MONDAY MISSION Thanks to PromoGuy

1. Suppose God (or your deity of choice) grants you one miracle. Consider the world in which we live. Consider your life and family. What would you request for this miracle? Are you sure that is the best way to use it? You only get one.
Hmmm... probably a cure for all diseases...

2. I believe that prayers do get answered, but I realize not everyone agrees. Have you ever had an experience where you truly believe your prayer was answered? If you don't believe in such things, how come? What is your philosophy on prayer?
Hmmm... I have, I do believe and I do pray... not going to elaborate... religious discussions can get uglier than a political race in Texas.

3. Have you ever lost a pet? That is, have you ever had a pet get loose, run away or be stolen? Did you get it back? How did the loss impact your life?
Oh gosh yes... I've lost many many pets... *sniff* My first cat Smoky darted out of the car when we were moving across state, my next pet was a puppy who got parvo and died, another cat named Smoky (I like gray cats) but my idiot uncle made us keep the kittens outside and someone took him.. never got him back and I was heart broken, then a cat named Gremlin (he was soooo cute) he got killed by some animal, then a cat named Groucho - had to let my grandmother keep him since we couldn't have a cat... she made him insane and he eventually ran his crazy ass away, a parrot Chester the Molester - he was far to mean to keep... bit everyone except me... sold him for $50, and finally the greatest cat/demon to ever live... my dearest companion Sinnamon, the powerful, evil and slightly fat and lazy orange tabby who was struck down in her 8th year by a horrible vet accident (they killed her... the bastards) - I was heart broken for a long time... then the current cats - Sunshine (my cat) and Dusty (hubby's)... we had to shuffle them off to a friends for a couple months when we moved, but they are home again and going no where. In the span of the current cats, we've had Ghengis the bunny, he died suddenly after our apartment was sprayed... *sniff* he was a good bun-bun... then Sven the huge (he was just over 20 lbs), he died.... delicate digestive system... *sigh* And of course my other dog... Foxy... I took her to the pound when we moved... and I have a little bit of guilt for that... not for getting rid of her, I didn't like her much, but for taking her to the pound... and for what probably happened to her *cringe* ... and... Spike the killer gold fish.. have him now...
That's it, that's all of my pets... aren't you sorry you asked! hehehehe...

4. Getting together with family at the holidays is great, I just love it. Most of all I love the food. What is your favorite holiday food?
Hmmmm... I really don't like much holiday food.. I'm so damn'd picky... I don't like turkey that much, stuffing is gross, the green bean casserole is vile, ham is not my favorite, pumpkin pie is not that great.. not bad but I don't really like pie much, I don't much like sweetened yams, cranberry sauce (from the can) is just disgusting (I like fresh cranberry relish that I make)... so I guess I really like the dinner rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy...

5. One thing I've noticed about the holidays is that no one makes Pumpkin Pie like my Grandmother. She has totally spoiled me on her recipe, I just don't like the taste of anyone else's Pumpkin Pie. Are there are dishes or desserts that someone in your family fixes better than anyone else?
hmmm.. considering my comment above... um... no. I cook better than most of my family. I don't trust most of them to cook something that I really want to eat. My aunt is a great cook though... she makes these nummy lemon squares... haven't had them in years though...

6. Do you have any siblings with children? How does it make you feel to be an Aunt or an Uncle? If not, would you like to be have nieces and nephews? Would you make a good relative to them?yup. My oldest sister has 9 kids, I only know 2 of them, my older sister has a 17 year old son who I love very much, my brother has no kids, my youngest half/sister has 3 kids... my brother in law and sister in law has a son who turns 3 the end of this month, he adores me and I love him dearly. I'm a good relative to all of my neices and nephews (that I know that is...)

7. I am putting together a CD of great holiday music. Do you have any suggestions of what songs (title/artist) I should include?
Aaron Nevil has some wonderful holiday music.

BONUS: How would you feel knowin' prejudice was obsolete and all mankind danced to the same beat?
Wooohoo! let's all head to the clubs and dance together!

Today's Comment Question: Did you see Titanic? Did Rose die at the end or was she just sleeping? I say she was just asleep and dreaming.
Dear God - she's dead. Just like I was wishing to be through out most of that horrible movie. I hate Titanic, she's dead, they are all dead, those who nominated it for awards are brain dead... hell if I ever plan to commit suicide I'll rent that awful movie and watch it over and over... that will surely kill me.

Strange Things Cats Do

Recently I've seen my cats do something that's just odd. They've been squeezing themselves under my couch. They have never ever done this in the past. I know, I know, your saying "Cats like to get under things, why is this so interesting?" Well it's that my couch is pretty low to the ground... 3 inches between the floor and the couch bottom...

And the cat, though small still seems to large to be getting under the couch...

That's cool that cats can do that... although it's just creepy to have a cat hiding under the couch...
MONDAY! MONDAY! MONDAY!

Allright... it's Monday... after Thanksgiving... where the hell is everyone? I don't have anything to read... come on people!!! Work with me! I've written lots of stuff for you... allright fine... most of it is just boreing crap... but hey! Give me something to work with! Jake, I know your back, I hope you had a lovely time with the family... can't wait to hear from you... A - I saw your tiny little update... How was that turkey? (and I'm not talking about anyone in your family...) L - If your talking about an upcoming BIRTHDAY you want ignored by your family... that doesn't include me since I'm not family... I find it hard to resist birthdays... Ahhhh... any excuse for a party. And about that damn'd painting... I can NOT figure out who painted it. I'm such a intelectual incompetent in these areas... I need more clues! I was going to look at the previous clues you gave but you don't have links to your archives anymore. *sigh* I need all the help I can get.

My grandmother had her biopsy this morning, things turned out well. The Dr. says it's just calcification and just merits being monitored, nothing more. That's good news... hopeing that this day will be full of GOOD news.

MOVIE REVIEW
Hannibal... the sequel that is frightening to think about... (the fact that it was ever made!!!)

I sat on my couch in absolute fear through most of this movie... for two reasons... the first was fear that the plot would NEVER get going and the second was the fear that this movie would NEVER END...This movie sucked. There is no nice way to put it. Why a sequel was ever made is beyond me. If Anthony Hopkins can get a job after this dog of a movie, it will truly be a miracle (I mean a job that isn't as spokes person for seniors insurance, adult diapers or denture cream... those don't count... after all, when was the last time you saw June Allison in a movie?). I could not belive how stupid and pointless this movie was... and how fucking unbelievable it was either. Though Julianne Moore is a good acctress, I didn't think she was a convincing Agent Starling, Anthony Hopkins was good as Hannibal (of course), but the character seemed pointless and searching for purpose through out most of the movie. Ray Lolitta should kick the shit out of his agent for talking him into doing this movie. And the 'other' bad guy... What the Fuck? That made no sense. Actually the whole movie didn't make sense and seemed to flounder around for most of the time trying to make some sort of connection from one event to the next. The entire tension and drama from the first movie was completly lost in this sequel. The Hannibal character was laughable by the end of the movie. Not the nightmarishly frightening character from the first movie. That was disapointing. Silence of The Lambs is one of my favorite movies. I guess I should have been clued in that it would suck horribly since Jodi Foster wouldn't do it (sequels that replace a main character usually suck pretty bad...). Now I'm angry... angry that I wasted 2 hours of my life watching that shit! :oP
Woohoo! Big Day For My Car!

Yesterday morning my car turned 100000 miles! (not bad for a 10 year old car) I meant to take a picture of the odometer as it turned but I forgot to bring my camera that morning, and forgot about the car turning 100000 miles until I was halfway to work and we were already at 100004 by then. *sigh*

And today, I did something else for my car, I broke the mirror in the visor. Damn. I had the visor down to block the sun, and rolled down the window to get my parking ticket at work, then rolled up the window... on the visor. Doh! I am the Queen of the Dorks...
Let Them Eat Cake...

A funny thing happend tonight... I'm going to tell the whole story, so if you just want the funny part, skip right to the end of this paragraph. Hubby got a call from an old friend we haven't heard from in months and months and months. He goes to pick him up at 6 PM so we can all have dinner together then watch a movie or play a game or something. I'm excited. About 7 PM I get a call from SAMS, it's my hubby, he got a flat (I've been telling him to watch that back tire) and he needs me to bring his daytimer to him because the SAMS card is in there. So I put on some pants and rush off to meet hubby. I get to SAMS and they are waiting out front. We go in and he talks to the automotive center, I go off to procure dinner with our friend. We get a big pizza, some cokes and a sinful looking chocolate bunt cake. The car is ready pretty quick and we get the food. All the food get's loaded into my trunk. When I get to the townhouse I open the trunk to see the cake on it's side. YIKES! I pick it up and it looks fine - I think "Whew! At least it's not all broke apart!" and get the pizza and two bottles of coke. I get to the door and unlock it, start in the door, bump the pizza box on the door frame, knock the cake off the pizza box and it smacks upside down on the floor! I flip it over and... amazingly it's still whole! HAHAHAHAHA! It was a good cake though.

Ok... that wasn't as funny in writing as it was to actually see... oh well.. I'm a dork.

My New Hobby
A couple of months ago I found a bag of yarn and stuff in my craft box. It was a bag of stuff that was my mother's. There were a couple of sets of knitting needles in the bag and a half finished project. I wondered to myself if I would enjoy that.... well truthfully I wondered if I could do that... So grabbed a set of needles and some yarn and started knitting. And I was surprised, I actually enjoyed it... and it was pretty easy. So I made a small baby afghan for a friend and I just made a cute little winter hat for one of my kids. Damn I'm proud of that.. it's the first actual knitting I've done from a pattern. Anyway.. I know I'm just a geek. (ummm... that's not actually a picture of one of my children wearing the hat... )

British Comedies Rock!
The one biggest thing I miss by not having cable.. and therefore having absolutely no television reception.. is watching British Comedies on Saturday and Sunday night. One of my absolute favorites is Black Adder. This week I have been watching a friends cat... actually just stopping by occasionally to check to see if the cat is all right... anyway, when we stopped by Thursday morning, I spied that this friend had the collection of Black Adder on DVD... so I snagged it.... have to return it to his home before he returns tomorrow... I know... I'm bad.. I should have asked... bad Judy! Bad Judy! But I've been laughing my ass off. We've gotten through 3 of the 5 DVD's, two more to watch then off to sneak the collection back to his house.... he'll never know... I mean is it stealing if you plan to return it?...

Surprisingly Good...
Have you ever sat down to watch a movie and didn't expect it to be any good? I do sometimes.. which makes one question why I sat down at all to watch said movie... but ... that's another story... Anyway... I borrowed Sense and Sensibility from the library. And I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I generally don't enjoy movies like that at all. I tend to steer clear of 'chick flicks' in favor of monster movies, horror movies and action comedies... Yeah I know.. not typical girl movies. I'm always shocked and surprised when I do like a 'chick flick'. Anyway, I really did enjoy the movie, the acting was magnificent. Although I don't recall any of the gothic romance novels (I was forced to read in high school) ever having a happy ending... OOPS.. hope I didn't ruin the ending for anyone interested in watching this movie... hehehehe....

Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas....

Well actually it already looks like Christmas... and has since about 30 seconds after Halloween.... In the past couple of weeks I have noticed the huge tents being put up in front of grocery stores and in vacant areas... Yes, yes, the tents of the great nomadic Christmas Tree tribes. Over the next weeks more and more of these communities will spring up. Great hoards of evergreen trees... branches all prickly and piney scented... Here for just one purpose... to sell the lessor of their kind as slaves and sacrifices! Yes! They are slave traders! Yes they offer sacrifices! They are a despicable clan... Even going so far as to have those who anger the elders punished publicly! Public Flocking! It's horrid. I can't even drive past one of their great tents without cringing. I refuse to support such heinous and cruel activities and have not bought a Christmas tree. I refuse to make an innocent tree suffer and die for my enjoyment... Only an artificial tree (to be tortured by the cats) for this house... I urge you to turn away from the slave trading clans of Christmas Tree traders this season... don't buy a tree! End the needless suffering! Of course... if your Jewish... your already doing your part ;o). (disclaimer... no actual Christmas Trees were harmed in this article...)
Well, it's past Thanksgiving and I've finally found a few moments to make it back to the computer. Have you missed me? ;o) I'll take that as a yes. I've been horribly busy since Wednesday before Thanksgiving until just NOW. I've been feeling that my life has gone into hyper drive and I'm just along for the ride... I really hate that feeling... maybe after next week it will slow down... Next week will be horribly busy and crazy... and stressful... but enough about that...

Ahhhh a Turkey Stupor....

Nothing says Thanksgiving like overeating and falling into a turkey stupor... This year I made the turkey... and it was fabulous if I do say so myself. Everyone kept saying how good it was and how juicy it was (*note the past holiday turkeys served in this family have been something akin to turkey shaped cardboard)... so the turkey was devoured. But alas, my pumpkin pies were utter crap. I used a new recipe and they were just barely edible. *sigh* good thing father in law brought cheese cake and cake for dessert. I was denied my turkey stupor though. We were at the in-laws house and sat around watching DVD's and talking, but no one napped. Damn it! I love my turkey stupor! We collected our dishes and left overs and headed home about 11:30 PM. I had to work on Friday but as soon as I got home I had some of the left over turkey and took a nap... but it was not the same... It was a pale imitation. *sigh* Anyway.. much to my surprise we only had enough left over turkey for lunch yesterday! Damn... I made a good turkey.

Uggh.. Today was a much better day... don't fret about me, I was just haveing a moment...

Just finished making 1 loaf of banana bread, 3 loaves of pumpkin bread and 2 pumpkin pies. Ahhh I love cooking for the holidays... I'll write more tomorrow... must sleep now.. have much to do tomorrow...

Tuesday, November 26, 2002

*sigh* There's so much going on right now in my life... this post is going to be a bit of a downer... I generally don't do that here, I try to keep it light... but I am going to talk about this... (vaguely... but I'm talking)...

The past months have been so confusing for me. Painful, lonely, bitter, sad, anxious but mostly confusing. I'm finally to a point where I have been feeling like this was close to an end... finally... but in the past couple of days, I've started thinking that the road is just getting longer for us. I don't like that... this situation needs to come to an end... my punishment has to come to an end. And now someone else has been drug into this situation... well actually she jumped into it even though I begged her not to. And now she's feeling the same cruel punishment that I have been. I didn't want that for her. I was so afraid that would happen... I was afraid that it would prolong my punishment mostly... but I was very afraid for her. Now she's been judged and examined, questioned and abused in the same manner I have been. Part of me is thankful, now she knows a bit of what I have been dealing with, but a large part of me is sad that she has been hurt so much. Crushed. Rejected. Beaten. Hurt. Her heart is so broken by what's happened in the past couple of days. Damn, she's so sensitive. I want to make it better for her, make her hurting stop. But I can't... I can't even stop it for myself. I'm angry that she got treated the way she did, that a few words have destroyed her chances at something she desires so much, that there is no way to stop what's already been set in motion... that any of this has happend at all. It's so frustrating... I wish I could only think of myself, of my hurt and anguish, but I can't... I'm not like that... I feel worse that she's being hurt by this situation than I do about my own pain and frustation. I've taken much of the responsibility for what I've gone through... right or wrong, I just have... I can't do that for her... Damn I can't change things. I've lost so much in all this... She's lost the possibility for so much... My heart is breaking because of that.... God willing, Thanksgiving will bring something for both of us to be thankful for.

Whew... been a busy day. Haven't had much time to post here... so sorry... so sorry... I know I have let down my adoring public (*self delusion in progress*). I only have a little bit of time so I'll tell about some funny things...

I was talking on the phone to a friend of mine - we were having a fairly serious conversation, I said "You need to come over soon." The reply "Oh I'm afraid to come to your place, what with all that wildlife around - I might get rabies." smart ass...

OK, my geek gaming activities kept me up very late on Saturday night/Sunday Morning, so I didn't get a lot of time to sleep before having to get up and go to work, when I got home I went to take a much needed nap. About 3:20 pm I wake up (hadn't been napping long..) and I look at the clock, notice it's still light outside and think "3:20? In the morning? Nooo... there is too much light outside.. Must be 8am or so, my clock must be wrong." So I pick up my watch and look at the time, it matches the bedside clock so now I think "hmmm.. I wonder how my watch got reset also." So I decide I need to look at the clock in the kitchen, because it's got to be sometime Monday morning. I walk out of the bedroom, into the livingroom then it occurs to me that it's 3:20 pm... it's still Sunday afternoon... doh! I figured I needed more sleep at that time and headed back to bed.
Monday... time for the Monday Mission thanks to PromoGuy...

1. Have you ever made a wish that came true?
Yeah... I wished for a kitty and I got my precious Sinnamon... right before a rain storm... lots of lightening and thunder... then the mewing of a cute little kitty... *sigh* I loved that cat...

2. How about any wishes that you are happy never came true?
Yeah, later I wished for another kitty, and I never got it, which was a good thing because Sinnamon hated other cats and would have killed them.. it was a moment of insanity that made me want another kitty.

3. Do you like who you are? Are you the person you hoped you would become?
I like me a lot. If I wasn't me but I knew me, I'd be best friends with me. No I'm not the person I'd hoped to be, I'm much different and a much better person that I could have ever hoped to be... Still plenty of room for improvement, but better than I had ever expected.

4. I recently found some job applications that I never turned in. Back in 1986 I intended to apply at "County Seat" and "Chess King" but got an offer from Penny's (where I worked all through college). It was a good thing, since only one of the three is still around. Have you ever applied for positions, or had any interviews, where you later are glad you never got the job?
Oh yeah.... I once interviewed for a job as an administrative assistant for a director who I thought was pretty cool, didn't get it though... months later this director got fired for inappropriate business activities.... that would have been a mest to clean up.

5. While on the topic of career opportunities, what was your very first "real" job? What job was the most embarrassing?
Working as a file clerk in an insurance office. Most embarrassing.... hmmm... I really haven't had any jobs that were embarrassing...

6. Speaking of news, have you had your 15 minutes of fame yet? Such as being in the newspaper, on television, linked on a high-profile site or otherwise caught in the spotlight of the media?
Unfortunately I have... when my apartment fire happened, that made the news... with me crying in front of my apartments... sheesh... when I had my youngest baby, breech at home, assisted by the paramedics... that fireman/paramedic got a citation from the city and wanted me there for pictures which made the local paper.

7. In the USA, many of us will celebrate Thanksgiving this week. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving (or something like it)? Do you enjoy getting together will your extended family for these types of celebrations?
I love cooking the big meal.

BONUS: Where is the tenderness?
Do you need a hug?

Things That Do Not Go Together...

+ = trouble...

My damn cat can open my doors. Sheesh... She's to damn smart. If she get's accidentally locked in my bedroom or where ever, she can open the damn door and get out. This makes it difficult if I actually WANT to lock her in somewhere. Her not so intelegent sister has no clue how to do this and will just scratch at the door until someone lets her out.. *snicker* But Sunshine... she's to damn smart for her own good... she can open drawers also... I'm just thankful this cat doesn't have thumbs or I'd be in big trouble

Miscellanous Babbling From The Back Of My Mind...

Today at work something unique and funny happened. I was taking pictures of the last baby for the day... and adorable little girl with the nicest parents (and a HOT daddy). I was finishing up, they were so thrilled with the picture.... then I hear someone say "Now you need to take Judy's picture." I look up, not sure what they were talking about, the mom says "Well we should ask her first if she minds. Can we take your picture for the baby's book? A picture of her first photographer." I said sure. It gave me the giggles the rest of the day though.

Christmas gifts...

This year (much like last year) I am totally broke... well mostly broke, So I'm going to make gifts for people. I bought a little wooden box at Hobby Lobby yesterday and am planning to paint it with a Texas theme for a friend who lives far, far away from Tejas (the poor sucker). I have considered painting a bunch of little wooden boxes for friends and family, but I'm a little nervous that people would think that it was incredibly cheesy. I mean is it presumptious and vain to think that people would want something with my art work on it? It's not like I'm Rembrant or Dali. But my art work doesn't completly suck. I've given pictures to a couple of people and they have them framed and love them very much, but that's probably just because they love me. I can't imagine anyone shelling out cash for something I did though. Anyway... give me opinions... is this a cheesy idea or not?

OK, I have noticed, from my surfing while bored, that more and more homeless are blogging. What the hell? They all seem to have the same sentiment that their blogging is somehow raising public awaremess of the plight of the homeless. Yeah... whatever... I think it doesn't do much good for the homeless as a whole, but it feeds the ego of these homeless with blogs, raising them in their own minds to the status of gurus or leader in their 'community'. It also tends to lend to the idea that many homeless are just lazy bums who don't want to work as most of these homeless bloggers are pretty decent writers who seem to spend a great deal of time at the library writing in their blog and not working to change their status as a homeless person... i.e. looking for a job, etc. Maybe my views of homelessness are narrow and uninformed, but the homeless bloggers are doing nothing that changes my mind on this but has only reinforced this concept in my mind. I work, albiet part time, but I work. I don't have nearly as much time to devote to my blogging as the homeless bloggers seem to. I could sit on my butt all day long at my computer if I wanted to, my husband works and makes enough to support us (my money helps though!)... but why would I want to do that? I'd never accomplish anything, my house would be a disaster and, well, I like to work. Another thing that confuses me is that each of the homeless blogs I have read, the author talks about how they want to not be homeless and maybe someday things will change, yadda, yadda, yadda... yet they seem to be proud of their status. Thats just crazy. Like they are now the Homeless Elite because they have a blog. Maybe I'm to harsh in my judgement... but it does seem that they are just making excuses for not doing anything to NOT be homeless.

Humor For The Intelectual Geek...

I just barely fit into that catagory... well definatly the GEEK part, but the Intelectual part... this is funny though Acme Klein Bottles I got the link out of Discover Magazine. Read through the entire site, it's very funny.

And on the other Geek areas of my life, hubby and I sat around after our delightful taco dinner (with a side of spicy queso) and discussed the ongoing plot in one of the comic books we read and the future and past ramifications... it had something of a time paradox going on... The discussion had started before dinner with the question "which super hero group do you think would make a good movie?" hehehe.. I won't go into the details as I'm more than certain that you have NO interest in our quasi-intelectual comic book conversation.;o)

I AM SUCH A GEEK!!!!

Tonight hubby came home with a gift for me - DICE and COMICS! YAY! hehehe.. yes I was excited about my purple dice (all my dice are cursed from a nasty dice accident... don't ask... it sounds stupid... but... it's for real). The comics are not just for me, he reads them also... but I was excited to get the latest JLA. *my geekyness showing again*

Anyway, we have a game this weekend, so I'll have my opportunity to use my NEW DICE!!! (go ahead and laugh....)
DISCOVER Magazine

I've been reading Discovery Magazine, they had an article on the 50 most important women of science - that was pretty cool and they had a section on some that had not been recognized for their contributions. :o( Sad. The next article was on why Science must adapt to women.. I won't bore you with the details, but it was interesting... One thing that caught my attention was where the Scientist who was featured in this article is a professor - UCSF - L is that where you work? And if so do you know Elizabeth Blackburn? She's a cell biologist whos done some facinating work.

L - I'm searching for that painting.. I can't read what the writing says... From your hint, I'm guessing it's a German rennasance painter... Probably not Durer since you just did a painting by him.
DAMN THEM For not Having What I WANT!!

I went to my local library yesterday. I figured I would go ahead and check out Desperation by Stephen King since I had started reading it at the other library. Well guess what book is not on the shelf? Of course, the book I want. The ONLY King novel to be missing from the shelf. Sheesh...

I did check out some other things, a book on Feng Shui (isn't that ironic about the raccoon now.. I guess I can do something about that bad chi). Some books on painting and illustrating.. I'm looking for some tips on painting... I also checked out some DVD's - they had some worth watching this time. Dead Poet society, Sense and Sensibility and Hannibal. Gosh I love my library... ;oP
Kill them all.... just spare the...

We watched Gladiator the other night... damn that was a great movie. I loved it... even all the head chopping! ;o) So we are watching and the scene comes up when Maximus is running towards his farm and it's all burned out.. you see someone's body burned and then Maximus walks up toward this arch, and you see these chickens cross in front of him. Smart ass husband says "Kill them all... just spare the chickens!" I burst out laughing, that is so rediculous. Men...
MAD COON! (And I'm not talking about any of my coon ass relatives either!)

Here's what happened (for those who care). About 10 pm, we were watching the end of Star Wars I (ahhhh now I remember just how much Jar Jar irritated me...) and I hear this noise outside kind of like a small dog in a fight or something. (made me think of my sisters Chihuahua's hehehe). So I peek out the blinds... I can't see anything but I can hear it, so I look around more and I see something about as big as a large cat laying on the sidewalk in front of my door, it's panting. I notice the banded tail and figure out that it's a raccoon. I think maybe it's been fighting or something and watch for a minute, it keeps panting.. I open the door and step out a bit. A man who lives in the same complex I do, says "I wouldn't get to close hun, it's having some kind of fit." I say oh! and close the door. The poor thing has another fit. I tell hubby that it's a rabid raccoon and he needs to call the police non-emergency number. After a few minutes the man outside knocks on the door and hubby goes out and talks with him. The raccoon is just laying on the ground panting, every so often it will get up and try to walk, then collapse on the ground. :o( this is sooo disturbing to me. Hubby comes back in and tells me that the guy said that he lost his dog to what ever is afflicting the coon about a month ago (a coon had jumped out of the creek area and attacked his dog, then his dog got sick and died.. the vet said it wasn't rabies... what a lie...)... sad. So at 11 pm a police officer shows up. He asks what's going on, hubby tells him we have a rabid raccoon on our door step (he had to walk around it so he couldn't have missed it) then he says, "What's going on inside?" We look at him like he's crazy and say nothing, he says he got a call about an unattended child... we say... um.. no... we called about a rabid raccoon... he looks irritated then walks away... dick. So the officer sends the man back to his apartment and he stays and monitors the racoon (we have a lot of kids in the complex, some of which are stupid enough to mess with a wild animal). At 11:30 there is still a dieing raccoon outside my door.. I'm looking outside and see it staggering around, making like it's going to crawl into my big flower planter! I start saying "No! No! No! Don't you dare die in my flowers!" Hubby is laughing his ass off now. I'm all anxious. I tell him to call and find out WHEN someone will get that dieing coon! He does grudgingly. They say that animal control is almost there. So we wait about 15 minutes and go look outside again.. I see no coon... we look and look... no coon.. I can't see into my flower pot so I'm nervous that he's in there. Hubby opens the door a little... no coon... he looks around... no coon... he steps out... no coon.. then he sees the animal control truck. He goes to talk to them. They say that they have had 3 rabid skunks and another rabid raccoon recently. sheesh... I was glad it was gone. I didn't want to open my door to a dead raccoon! So that's it. Hope this doesnt' bring bad chi on my house! ;o)

Whew it's Thursday! Time for 3XThursday 11/21/2k3 What makes a good Blog? from Jake

1. What makes a good blog? What make you want to read it? Why do you read them?
Humor, Interesting content, coherent writing, interesting person who writes the blog. Why read them? Because I'm interested... ;o)

2. What makes a bad blog. What topics and things do you think will kill a blog?
People who whine constantly, can't write a sentence to save their lives and people who bash others. Generally I think people should steer clear of politics unless they can discuss them in an intelegent, informed manner (so I try to stay away from that myself!!!) and should stay away from bashing others... that's just childish.

3. Name a celebrity that should never ever have a personal blog. Who would have the last online journal in the world that you would want to read.
Britney Spears, JLo, Christina Agullara and Eniemm... what the fuck could they possibly have to say?

Uggh! Animal control is STILL not here... the police have gone... and the mad coon is still dieing on my door step....

oh wait.. they JUST got the damn thing.... I can't imagine that having a dead coon on the door step is good chi.
damn... I'm all scattered tonight... I had all these topics to write about.. my day, everything.. but... there's a mad raccoon dieing in front of my door currently. No I'm not shitting you.. this is for real. I was going to take a picture, to prove that it's really out there... but that it would be in bad taste to take a pic of a dieing animal. So the police are here, just waiting for animal control to come take care of this. I'm totally creeped out that this animal decided to die right in front of my door.

OK, this is soooooo totally un-PC it's fucking hilarious though. This is especially for Jake - that Mr. Rogers comment you made reminded me of this Elmo is bad. WARNING - A - do not play this with your little ones there.. it's not for kids.

Sheesh.. I have a sinus headache again tonight. Ouch. ouch.. ouch...

Today I cleaned house, finished laundry and... got my eye exam. It's only been about 4 years! I've been wearing the SAME contacts for 4 years! The eye Dr. was amazed and a little impressed I think. He hooked me up with a pair of disposables to wear for this week until my new ones come in. He said that my eyes weren't getting enough oxygen and my corneas were a little scratched, but nothing major and nothing that couldn't be fixed with a new pair of contacts. And my eyes do feel better now. hehehehe.. i'm so bad.

eh.. off to bed... my brain hurts...

See which Greek Goddess you are.

Ahhh Tuesday means it's time for Two For Tuesday

1. Have you ever had neighbours from Hell? Do you have neighbours from hell? How about the best neighbours you've ever had? Tell me about them! =)
OMG yes! I've lived in some of the crappiest places growing up. We've had the perpetually noisy neighbors, the ones with heathen kids who stopped up the comodes (which caused them to overflow in OUR apartment also!), the ones who would let their dogs crap infront of our door, the ones who argued so loud we could hear every word, the drug dealers... that was just growing up... When I moved in with my hubby we have only had a few neighbors from hell - the first ones we ever had infact! The night we moved in they were having a party... on a Sunday night... lucky us... they had a bunch of people in their apartment - right above us... and they were playing their music very loud well past 1 am... (it was Duran Duran...), then later they had two cocker spaniels that would bark in the middle of the night - they weren't home either... they would argue with each other in the bathroom - which was right above ours, and you could hear EVERY word when they did that... We complained about the dogs and they got evicted.

2. If you could have anyone for a neighbour who would it be and why?
Hmmmm... I think I'd want some very hot men to live next to me... very hot, very polite men who liked to do yard work in just shorts... and maybe do some weight lifting in the back yard or something.... ;o) ahhhhh just for my own little selfish purposes... I'd love to watch that.
A - been reading about your little man being sick, that sucks so much. The thing with the medicine is strange, and for this reason. While I was pregnant the last time, my oldest had a nasty cold and got a fever and all. I was giving her medicine for it, which she would take just fine. I thought it would be eaiser if I got some of the Triaminic chewables for her. Not so, as soon as I gave her that, she would not take any other medicine at all. I could not figure it out. I thought the Triaminic would taste better - I got the cherry flavor - so I tried one and it tasted ok, but then had a nasty after taste. From then on I had to sneak her medicine in to juice, Coke, chocolate milk... just whatever she would drink so that she would take the medicine. Months later, when the baby had to have some medicine, the oldest would take the medicine again (she wanted it at that point.. jealousy is a strange thing in kids)... but it wasn't Triaminic, it was some other stuff. Anyway - hope he get's better soon!

Well I spoke with my sister this morning, she said the Dr. told my grandmother that it's a 50% chance that it is breast cancer. My grandmother said that if it does turn out to be breast cancer, that the Dr. is to do a mastectomy right then. I can understand that. I'm glad my sister will be with her while this is happening. I know I don't want to be there... and not just because I'm avoiding my grandmother.. I just don't want to be there if she gets the news that it is cancer. I know that sounds selfish, and maybe it is... but I was there when we got the news with my mother. I was devistated, I totally broke down. I had expected it to be breast cancer, but when the Dr. told us that it had spread to her liver and her lungs I just couldn't handle it. So... I don't want to be there if the news is worse than expected. I fear that I would not be any help at all, I know my sister will be.

All this talk about my grandmother probably having cancer has gotten me thinking about my own health. I'm in good health now, but I could stand to make some changes... like not eating so much junk food... and loosing some weight... getting more exercise (I haven't been to the gym in a few weeks...bad me). Well I better wrap this up.. it's time to rinse my hair.

*warning - some things in the following post are probably very un-PC. Oh well... it's my blog... if you offend eaisly, don't read this.*

Due to my having a horrible headache for most of the afternoon and evening, we went out for Chinese tonight. We went to this place pretty close to us, I didn't even know it was there. Hubby looked it up on the internet. So we get there, it's a place that has a 'Super buffet' - I generally steer clear of these places as you never know how long anything has been sitting out and how many people have breathed into the food. My head hurt so I didn't argue about the buffet I just got a plate and loaded it up (they had a lot of shrimp also... a big bonus). Chinese restaraunts are funny around here, all the waiters all have thick Asian accents - you know the sterotypical Chinese person accent - and all the bus boys and cooks are Mexican. I have yet to find an Oriental restaraunt around here that is different, one time we went to Beni Hana and sat at the hibachi - the cook was Mexican! Why is it that all the waiters/waitress' only speak 'Engrish'? I'm starting to wonder if this is just something they do so that they will get bigger tips by making the restaraunt seem more 'authentic'.

Anyway... the food was good and no dishes to wash. YAY!

I've been reading the magazine 'Discovery'. Damn they have some facinating articles in this issue. My favorite being a Neolitic village discovered at the bottom of a lake in Italy. The first ever. But that statement is a bit misleading.. it wasn't JUST discovered, it was discovered more than 10 years ago, it's been being excavated for the past 10 years. There have been some amazing discoveries so far, and only a small portion of it has been uncovered. It will probably take at least another decade to uncover just half of this. Some of the artifacts reveal that this village probably had a lot of trade going on there, lots of the artifacts they found are from other places, suggesting that these people had the capability of sea travel. One particularly interesting thing they found that leads credibility to this theory is a large canoe - 35 foot. They have been working on dating exactly when the village was established... and they think they can get it pinpointed to a very exact time - right now they estimate that it's within a decade or two of 5230 B.C. I really hope the person in charge of this particular site publishes some more papers on this... and in English... She hasn't published much so far, and mostly in Italian, but I hope that this get's more attention.

Book Review! Last night after my poor hubby went to bed with his migraine I sat down and read 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull' by Richard Bach. It was a really quick read, maybe 45 minutes to finish it. My impression, a waste of 45 minutes. It's a bizarre story about breaking away from the norms of society and striving for perfection. Written back in 1970 and it pretty much summed up the 70's new age philosphy. I should have been reading Desperation by S. King.. It would have been freaking me out and scaring the crap out of me.
whew... what a weekend! I worked as usual, and it was a really good weekend at all my hospitals. Friday night I burned dinner (I didn't think that was possible in a crock pot) so we went out to this little German restaraunt near us. Hubby got a big thing of beer and proceded to get tipsy. HAHAHAHA! Apparently this little restaraunt is where all the local old people go to have a night out. The median age in the restaraunt was 65!! It was a trip, there was this table of older people next to us, but they were all dressed really nice.. one of the men had on leather pants! that about cracked me up! but they were all older, one guy had his oxygen tank with him - no shit, he really did. It was funny, and sort of cute to see this group together. The food was great, hubby was amuseing. Saturday night hubby and I went with a couple of friends to the Improve to see a stage hypnotist. It was a blast. I went up on stage as well as our friend R. It was sooo damn much fun. The weather has finally gotten consistentally cool at night, so I decided to wear my boots on Saturday night. As we were leaving it was to nippy to go with out a jacket and to warm for my coat (heavy leather coat) so I dashed to my closet and started digging through stuff, I grabbed this one suede jacket and pulled it out - out fell this brown skirt I've been trying to find for the past 4 months! So... I changed clothes... hehehe... It only took 3 minutes to change from the black skirt and red shirt to the brown skirt and leopard print silk shirt. Hubby was impressed. I looked hot.

Yesterday we didn't do anything, hubby started getting a migraine. Poor guy.

*sigh* I know I'm not making a whole hell of a lot of interesting conversation right now. I just got news from my sister that my grandmother may have breast cancer. She was scheduled for some test today - a needle biopsy for some lumps, but they could not do it, so she's scheduled for a regular biopsy this Friday. My sister said there are several lumps that showed up in the mamogram. *sigh* This is weighing on my mind quite a bit. My mother died from breast cancer 6 years ago. 10 years ago this month she was diagnosed... so this is just an ominous coincidence. My sister is pretty sure it is cancer, but my grandmother is totally convinced it is not.... which is not good. She's not leaving herself any room for the chance it is and that could be such a shock for her. She's 71 and her health has been pretty good for the most part. In the past for or so months she's been diagnosed with diabetis and had to have angioplasty to remove a blockage, but she's been pretty much fine after that. Still.. I worry... Cancer took my mother, I don't really want to loose my grandmother to it... even though we don't always get along that well. *sigh* not much I can do except pray.. it's in God's hands now.
It's Monday, that means it's time for the Monday Mission 2.46 (Thanks Promoguy)

1. Is there anything you used to be able to do physically that you no longer can? What changed?
Other than not get into the same size clothes because I'm 'BIGGER'... not a whole lot... oh yeah, I used to be able to sit on the floor or on the couch for hours while playing games, but not it hurts my back.. why? because my back was injured when my tiny little car got rearended by a big old van the summer of 99.

2. If you could go to lunch with someone famous, anyone living or dead, who would you choose? What questions would you ask them?
Dead: Jesus and ask about a lot of things I'm not sure about, Salvador Dali and talk about his art work and wild life, Atilla the Hun talk about the hordes and Ramases the Great ask him what it's like to be the Pharo and my mother, ask her questions about the family. Living... the scientists who have been working with the Iceman or the ones who have been working on the Mammoth Found in Siberia and ask about thoes discoveries... or Bob Brier the Egyptologist and ask about his most exciting excursion.

3. On that same thought, there are probably several Bloggers you enjoy reading but have never met in real life. Which one Blogger would you most like to meet for dinner? Why did you pick that person? What would you talk about? What do you have in common? What would you do after dinner?
Hehehehe.... I don't read many blogs, so that leaves a very small list. Neil Gaiman because I'm such a fan of his, so I'd probably just be such a bore to him and ask him about his work, gush over him and look stupid. I'm not sure we have anything in common, but we probably do... after dinner Neil would probably try to tactfully escape from the slobbering fan and failing that he would pretend to have to use the restroom but would sneak out instead, leaving me to wait for the next hour then be irritated by him.

4. Money (or the lack thereof) is the number one cause of arguments amongst couples. Do you find this to be true? If there really was a "Money Tree" you could go an pick, would this really solve a couple's problems? Hmmm... I think that statement is kind of misleading question, saying that it is the cause of most arguements... I see most arguements as a reflection of things being wrong in a relationship, such as bad communication. A lot of times it's eaiser to argue about other things such as money or house hold duties rather than deal with the real issues. Money can't fix relationship problems, communication, love, respect and trust can though.

5. Speaking of arguments, have you ever been drawn into any nasty, hateful arguments? The kind where hurtful things were said that had nothing to do with the fight at hand? What was that all about? How did it turn out?
I think we have all done this. I try my hardest to not do something like that. I haven't done anything like that in years and years, so I really can't remember the last time that happened, but I'm sure the results were not good. I'm sure I looked more like an ass than anything else.

6. When was the last time you had to admit you were wrong about something? How did that go?
Actually I end up doing that fairly often. I think it was with my husband, we had disagreed about whether Stan Lee was dead or alive, I was wrong. Went fine, I'd rather admit I'm wrong than look like a stuborn jackass.

7. Now for a slight change of theme....what song should never have been written?
Anything by Britney Spears

BONUS: Are you ready for a new sensation? yeah baby! Bring it on!

Today's Comment Question: What excites you? hehehe.. I don't think I should talk about that on here... the mention of Astroglide in any subject matter makes A cringe. ;o)

Thursday, November 14, 2002

Oh gosh.. I just had the most fun. I just proved my superiority over hubby again (no I'm not talking about anything sexual.. get your mind out of the gutter). We played Jenga three times and I won. Hubby kept calling the game "Build an Aggie BonFire" HAHAHAHAHA! I'm so obnoxious some days. Everytime it fell I'd burst out lauging - loud and obnoxious... you can dress me up, but you can't take me out in public. It was so funny though. Then we played Canasta. I won. The last time we played (also the first time) I lost and got really pissed... I was PMSing... so it was stupid of hubby to even think of teaching me a new game at that moment, so this time we played, I thought I was going to loose, but I beat hubby unmercifly.. then I made the 'L - Loser' sign on my forhead and hubby flipped me off. hehehehe... I was just teasing him, I'm really not a shitty winner.

OK, who wants to play now?
Ok, a late late 3XThursday 11/14/2k2 Sticking it to Oscar Thanks to Jake

*sigh* just not a subject I can answer very well since I don't watch many movies, and I absolutly despise awards shows (gag)... but I'll try...

1. Have you ever disagreed with an Oscar for Best picture? I mean what won that you did not agree with and what should have won?
Yeah Titanic.. I thought that was a horrible movie... anything else should have won... anything at all.

2. What categories are missing from the Oscars? If you had to pick some new categories what would they be?
hmmm.. I have no clue since I don't watch them.. maybe Best Porn Movie ;o) oh, wait, don't they have their own awards ceremony? hehehe...

3. What Actor, Actress or Director is ignored by the Academy and deserves more credit and recognition than they now get?
Morgan Freeman... I remember he lost for his work in Shawshank Redemption. That pissed me off. Who do I think get's too much attention? James Cameron, seems like any piece of shit he puts out will at least get a nomination.

Bonus for the Comment Box: If you could have sex with one film star who would it be?
Ahhh finally, a question that's easy to answer... Al Pacino (I think it's because I've been watching the Godfather), Vin Disel, Harrison Ford, Wil Smith, Alec Baldwin (in his thinner days), Wesley Snipes, David Dacoveny (sp?).... oh.. wait.. you said just one..... hmmm... can't it just be a wild night? ;o)

And as far as someone on a television show and not in films - Ben Bowder from Farscape... *pant* *pant*... I'd give up all of them just for him any day. *sigh*

Ahhhh... It's been the best of days... it's been the worst of days... (my personal appologies to Dickens for butchering that). I've had an interesting day. Unexpectedly so at that. *sigh* can't really go into it on here, but it did keep me off balance most of the day, but not necessarily in a bad way.

I finished reading the homeless guy's blog. I read all his archives and his FAQ also. I wanted to be able to make an informed decision. I feel for him, it can't be easy living on the street, but it also seems that he's not really wanting to take responsibility for his situation. He continually states that he has some kind of panic disorder... brought on social settings... this is what he says: "Mine is a world dominated by anxieties, which occur in the midst of social situations. To function as non-homeless, a person must be able to establish and maintain a certain level of community - the anxieties prevent me from doing this. Also, it is known that all mental disfunctions are grouped in "families." That is, a person who suffers anxieties may very well also experience a certain amount of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - see the TV show "Monk") I have OCD as well, but to a lesser degree. Evidently these different ailments have the same root cause, and possibly the same cure - at least as far as medication is concerned. I say all this as speculation, based on what I've read and my own brand of common sense. I am no Doctor. He's stated in another post that he has never been diagnosed with this, but came to this conclusion himself. Um... OK... So... he get's anxious in social situations, enough so that he can't keep a job... yet he can go stay in a shelter with 300+ strangers? In the interview on the FAQ page, I found some of his answers to be evasive. On question about how he got into the homeless situation and what are the causes of his problems as far as not being able to hold down a job... he goes into a long question of what constitues as homeless, but doesn't answer the question at all. I find that irritating.. I like people to be direct and to the point. If I ask a question, I want an answer... I don't like evasiveness... And I don't like people who won't take personal responsibility. This has a lot to do with my upbringing. It was always stressed to me that I was to be responsible for myself and my actions. I find myself not really liking this homeless guy for that.... and for another slightly strange reason. I read his writing and he reminds me of my former step father (FSF). Not a person I like. FSF didn't have much of a drive to succeed... much like homeless guy.. although I don't ever expect FSF to ever be homeless, he's a crafty conman and I'm sure he'll always find a way to keep a roof over his head and a meal on the table. So my opinion is that homeless guy needs to expend some of his energy he puts into his blog into getting off the street, either that or admit he likes being on the street, having no responsiblities and no one to answer to. I pitty him. I feel sorry for his children (who thankfully live with his ex-wife)... I wonder what they say when someone asks what their daddy does? My heart goes out to them.

Wednesday, November 13, 2002

Ahhh.. I'm at the library again. I have grabbed another book... Steven King... (again...) and unknowingly it's a book that's connected to the one I just recently finished. It's called Desperation. From what I have gleaned so far it's the same story, with the same players, different setting and different situations... odd... and scary... Now I wasn't actually looking for another gigantic King novel to read, I was actually looking for Hunch Back of Noter Dane, but this lame ass library doesn't have it.. it's got 3 copies of Les Misrebles (yes know it's misspelled...) and one copy of a compilation of writings by Hugo but no Hunch Back. I don't even know why I wanted to read it, I was just curious I guess.. it being a classic and all.. but now that I realize that it's a novel by Victor Hugo... the same writer of Les Mis... a book which was painful at best to finish in high school... I don't know that I want to read anything else by Hugo.. I know.. narrow minded... I probably will check out the book anyway.. from my local library... and try to read it.. introduce some culture into my sad little brain.

A - glad your not going to look at the painting just yet ;o) gives me a fighting chance!!

I read more that homeless guy's blog. I am still reserving judgement.

More later...
L- the apartment is fabulous! I'm jealous! ;o) I totally understand your sentiment regarding the grocery store.. PC or not, I can identify.. I will have to look up that painting when I get home.. what, no hints? The Homeless Guy is the link to that blog I have been reading. I'm still trying to decided if this is real or not. I don't know if I like it or not, but I feel compelled to continue reading it.

A- You will have to let us know if the little one sleeps tonight or not. L might have hit on something as in the babysitter may have been letting her sleep for a long time and in daycare she probably won't do that.

So here's my mafia dream... I dreamed I was at a mafia family birthday party for someone's child, then I go back towards a back bedroom for something and a guy walks up to me and starts talking in a hushed tone, very conspiratoral (sp?) (but then again it was the mafia.. isn't everything kind of that way) then he walks away and I realize that I'm his mistress! Yikes! Liked I'd do something like that with a MAFIA guy! Talk about a precarious position. And every time I'd think that it was ludacris that I'd be doing that, the dream would go back to the party... then I'd end up back in the hall talking to the guy.. oh and everything was back in the 50's and 60's like the Godfather... Too many mobster movies for me...

OH! I found my missing paints on Monday night! We went to the storage place to get the fridge and the lawn equipment out for a friend - we sold them - and there was my bag of paints (about 30 bottles of paint). I have been looking for those for months... hubby was kind of embarassed about it since he's the one that put them IN the storage room! Grrr.... anyway, I was playing with them last night.. didn't do anything.. messed up something.. realized I need to sketch my design before I paint it... otherwise it looks like utter crap... *sigh* I wish I could paint well.
We watched the Godfather II last night. Damn that was intense... I had mafia dreams... hehehe... hubby was funny, he was sad when Fredo got whacked, I think he deserved it... hubby said that he felt sorry for Fredo, identified with him since he was the middle child... then he said "And you identify with Michael right?" I started laughing, of course I did.. I think most people do. ;o)

Yesterday I found a blog by accident... well I was just clicking on recently published blogs off the blogger front page, looking for something interesting to read. I found this one by homelessguy. At first I thought it was a joke. Then I realized it wasn't, this guy is homeless, he posts from the library about his experiences. It was sad and ironic... and well written. I was surprised by that, not because he's homeless, but because so many people are not very good at writing and write very badly on their blogs (and anywhere else they write). He's a much better writer than I am. And I enjoyed reading his blog.. infact I felt compeled to read much of the archives. His blog looks much nicer than mine also, much slicker, better graphics. *sigh* (I still suck at this blog stuff) I found myself wondering why this man was homeless... thats part of why I read so much of his blog... and I learned that he has two children... they are about 12 and 9... he talks about how sad he is that he can't be in their lives... I learned that he's been homeless for a very long time, not that he doesn't work... he does when he can find work... I don't know why he's still homeless though.. he's inteligent... I don't know.. I'll probably go back and read more of his archives. I don't know really what I think of all this yet. It makes one think about this though, that's for sure.

Must go get ready for work.

Hope everyone has a great day.

L - your killing me! J-Lo = slut bomb! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

A - your so damn smart! You got that painting so fast! You, L and D always amaze me with your brilliants. It's a damn good thing I'm wittier (is that a word?) than all of you! hehehe.. just kidding about that part. ;o) Yes we should go see a movie... let's work on our schedules...

I'm pissed about something today. Or should I say, someone. I found out someone has been poking into my business and talking about me with others. That pisses me off. I don't talk about people, it's pointless, stupid and petty... occasionally I'll discuss some family members with other family members but I'm rarely if ever the person who knows what's going on... I just don't do the gossip thing... and this person... well she has made gossiping her primary career... and I hate that. I don't talk to her anymore because I can't trust her... well a lot of people don't talk to her anymore because of that... sheesh.. I just am pissed that she's been gossiping about me again... and why? I'm not THAT interesting.

On to other things.. Today is List 5 Cool Things About Yourself Day... I made that up... I figure, what the hell, who better to talk nice about you than YOU... I'm sure you probably don't hear what a great person you are very often, so why not today.. from your biggest fan.. YOU!

1. I have gorgeous butt length red hair.
2. Someone once said that I have "eyes that shine like jewels in the night", and he was right! I have beautiful green eyes.
3. I am a damn good artist.
4. I'm very good at playing board games and card games, and only a few people can beat me.
5. I'm a very compassionate person.. sometimes to much so.

Ok thats all. Now you do it. ;o)

Funny note... last night we were in the car, singing along to the radio (yeah I do that, and I suck, but I still do it), that song by Alice in Chains was playing - I think it's Man in the box, not sure.. but the line 'deny your maker' came on and hubby said "Oh deny your maker, not deny your neighbor." OMG.. I started laughing and laughing. I said "No you are not my neighbor! I do not live next to you! I do not know you!" We both were just cracking up... That man.. he's to funny some days... Just like his "what's in an e-ball" answer... blue water... We still laugh about that..

Monday, November 11, 2002

Ahhhh! It's MONDAY! MONDAY! MONDAY! That means it's time for the.... (drumroll please...)

Monday Mission 2.45 (thanks to PromoGuy) (with my answers.. of course!)

1. Although I was told before hand by my mother, my Grandfather finally told me he has cancer and it was speculated he has about 12 months to live. Has someone you know ever told you they had a terminal illness? What was it like for you when you found out. How did that change your relationship with them?
Yes, my mother had breast cancer. When I found out the first time I was devistated, when it came back after a brief remission period, I was shocked and sad, I knew that since it had spread to her bones she wouldn't recover this time. We always had a very close relationship, it made me more protective of her and a lot paranoid.

2. The concept of having 12 months comes as somewhat of a shock. Often those estimates are wrong and a person lives much longer. But still, it makes me think. If you found out you had 12 months to live, what would you do with that time? How would it change the way you live? Or would it?
Honestly I can't say. It's not something I've really contemplated... nor do I really want to. I'd like to say it really wouldn't change me, but I know it would... I just don't know how.

3. My Grandfather has decided to undergo chemotherapy. He was told it would not cure him, but it could prolong his life, however his quality of life could diminish. Having watched my father go through all that to no avail, I am not so sure I would choose that option. If you were (or are) in a situation where chemotherapy might cure you, or might not, would endure the usual side effects and discomfort?
Hmmm... tough question.... I to watched my mother undergo chemo. The first time her prognosis was not very good, she got a bone marrow transplant that put her cancer in remission for 2 years. When the cancer recured she went through chemo again and it did not help, she suffered. A very dear friend I used to work with lost her husband of 26 years 6 weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer... he did not get chemo and he suffered also. My husband told me of how his mother died after not getting chemo (her lukemia had progressed to far for treatment) and how she suffered as well. I think cancer is a disease that makes one suffer no matter what road you choose. Me personally, I would fight to live, I would know my quality of life would deminish due to having cancer anyway so that would not matter to much for me.

4. How is your health? How are you doing?
I'm good. Thanks for asking. ;o)

5. Speaking of health, I was in a Health Food Store Saturday and learned about something called "Ear Candling." It
involves having a helper insert a cone-shaped candle in your ear, lighting it and having the reverse pressure suck the wax out of your ear. Apparently it is very popular. Do you use, or have you ever tried, any alternative heath remedies or procedures? How did that work out? Anything out there we should try (or avoid)?

I really don't do much of that stuff unless it's been well documented in a reputable source. I take vitamins, use olive oil and do yoga and lift weights.

6. Which reminds me, this week at work they are giving flu shots for $15. I hate getting shots, so getting one by choice, and paying for it, is tough for me. How do you feel about Flu shots. Do they give them where you live? Are you going to get one or take your chances?
hmmm... I used to get a flu shot every year, but still managed to get the flu... which I hate because it involves so much vomiting for me... I think I'll probably take my chances this year.

7. I'd like to see either "Spirited Away" or "Bowling for Columbine" before they vanish from the multiplex at the mall. But I will probably have to go see it alone (which I hate). Do you like to go to see flicks at the movie theater alone? Or would you rather have company? Seen any good (or bad) movies lately?
Well I don't usually go see movies much.. maybe twice a year. If it was something I really wanted to see and no one else wanted to go with me, I'd go alone, I don't mind. Although I'm more likely to go see a movie I don't really care about if I'm with people. Last good movie in a theater - My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Last good movie to watch - Spiderman on DVD - omg.. that was fantastic. Last BAD movie to watch (not even the whole thing) The Avengers... that sucked.

BONUS: Don't you want somebody to love? hehehehe... are you hitting on me? ;o)

Today's comment question: What Would Jesus Drive? He wouldn't, he'd walk, take public transport or get rides from people. I imagine one of the apposles would have a VW bus that would break down a lot.

hehehe.. I was just reading someone's blog about when they bathed their cat. It reminded me of how much I really hate bathing my pets. I always think I'm going to enjoy it, but I'll get started and part way through think to myself "This sucks! Stupid stinky animal!" (ok, that was really just what I thought when washing the dog)... I guess I've been traumatized about giving pets a bath. I had a cat from the time I was a sophmore in highschool until the second year I was married. She was a chubby orange tabby with a bad temper and vendictive nature... God I loved that cat. She was declawed, (she never scratched anyway... she climbed that's why she got declawed), she bit.. hard... drew blood most times... she wasn't fucking around if she didn't like you... and... well she didn't like hardly anyone except me. Anyway, the first time I had to bathe the cat she was about a year old and was already declawed. She needed a bath and I didn't want to pay for the vet to do something I could do. My mother agreed that she would help me, after all it was just a 14 lb cat and the two of us... I got everything ready in a basin in the tub and mom sat to the side with towels. I had the cat firmly by the scruff of the neck with one hand and by her back feet with the other and started lowering her into the basin of water. She was unhappy but didn't really do much... until... the first drop of water touched her fur. The cat transformed... I am not lieing.. this chubby 14 lb cat suddenly had the strength of a bull... She let out an unGodly howl that gives me chills up my spine even now thinking about it. Sinnamon started contorting her body and grabbing onto the side of the tub to get out. I still had her by the scruff of the neck - much tighter now... My mother joined in to help me get her into the water, we got her doused, then wresled some more, then soap, some more dousing.. by this time, mom and I were exhausted, soaked and bleeding. We moved back and moved clear of the tub.. that cat shot out of the tub and down the stairs so fast I only saw an orange blur. Sinnamon had managed to bite the hand I had on the back of her neck, not once but three times, I had scratches from my wrist to my elbow of both arms (she still had back claws) I had another bite on my other hand, right between the thumb and index finger (she bit so hard there I had a bruise for a week), mom had 3 bites and various scratches also.. All this took place is less than 5 minutes... Took us half an hour to patch up our wounds with band aids and Neosporin and clean up the bathroom.... from then on I paid the vet to bathe her once a year... except one year.. (I must have lost my mind) After I was married, Sinnamon needed a bath but I didn't have the time to take her to the vet. By this time I knew the cat needed to be sedated to be bathed (a rather nasty event at the vets office left her chart marked 'will not handle cat unless sedated'), a friend I worked with had some kitty tranquilizers for when she travled with her cats, she gave me two.. these were strong enough to knock her 20 lb cat out cold for a 4 hour car trip. I gave the pills to my cat and waited for her to take a nap. After an hour she was pretty damn looped. Could barely stay on her feet. Hubby and I filled a basin in the tub and brough the limp cat into the bathroom. The rest of the events are mostly a blur but I'll try to fill them in as best as I can. We got the cat over the basin much like before, and much as before, as soon as the first drop of water penetrated her fur, all hell broke loose. She jumped straight up into the air! Landing back in the tub.. in the water... hubby and I both grabbed the cat, me at the scruff of the neck, him on her back feet... I swear that cat transformed at that moment.. she became 7 foot tall, greyish green with huge leathery wings and red eyes that blazed fire, a mouth full of rasor sharp fangs and 6 inch long talons on each paw! She was a demon! No lie! A Demon! She Made an unholy noise and I remember thinking it was best to just let her go and yelling to hubby to let go of her! Out of the bathroom she shot and we stood there to survey the damage. I had two deep bites - one right through a fingernail (And I had explicitly made sure to keep my hands clear of her mouth), several scratches and a very bruised ego. Hubby had one deep bite on the wrist(not sure how that happened since he didn't have the biting end) and three long scratches from his wrist to his elbow. the bathroom was covered in water, cat soap and fur. I learned my lesson.. Demons... er.. cats, are not to be bathed...

Whew... I've been busy. Yesterday I had a really good day. Absolutly perfect. All my pictures were great and all of the parents were so thrilled. One picture was soooo perfect and so adorable. I even parallel parked when I got to work (I totally suck at that) - and I did it well! Then I had the intereview - I have the job if I want it. I just have to decide if I want to do the drive - 30 miles to it. I think I will take the job because I do need the money. Having such a great day at work makes it hard to leave the job. I will see if I can work on a different day... maybe the Picture People job will come through also.. I'd love to do that part time.

Oh yeah and I stopped by and gave a blood sample before I went to work.. they tried to get blood from my left arm.. and apparently I don't have a vein in that arm that gives blood so they poked me in the right arm... sheesh... I really hate having shots.

L - I knew I had seen that damn painting at the local museum... I didn't have a chance to look it up - work and all - but someone sent me the link to it... I remember seeing it though. I thought it was very pretty. I love that picture of the stacked plates! I love plates like that! That picture looks so bright and cheerful. Good luck with the packing...

A - I hope I can work something so I can keep doing the pictures also.. I do love it. A lot.

hmmm... fuck I'm so boreing today.....

I finally did it.. I broke down and got a library card from my local library today. I also checked out that book I've been reading at the other library - The Regulators by Richard Bachman (Steven King). I just finished it. It's a creepy book, but I enjoyed it. Very bloody. I also checked out Jonathan Living Seagull by Richard Bach (was suggested by a friend), The Twelve Dancing Princesses (for inspiration for the painting), and three books of flowers (for the painting), by that time my arms were full from all the books, I was only in the library maybe 30 minutes. It's kind of funny, they have a section of video tapes and DVD's you can rent, hehehehehe... the DVD section had maybe 10 in there... and nothing anyone would want to watch! HAHAHAHAHA! I was surprised that it didn't have more books, the library is fairly new - I think it was completed less than a year ago. But I guess a library is never built with the intentions of just housing the books it has, it's got to have some room to grow. The children's section is really nice though. I think I'll be spending lots of time at this library... I'm embarassed that I've never ventured out to the library and I've lived here for almost 4 years.

A - I'm no closer to finding out about that painting now that I was yesterday, I've had absolutly no time to do anymore research today on the subject and likely won't get any time tomorrow either... but I'm determined to find out who painted it. I ALMOST checked out a huge book on paintings but my arms were already loaded down with books, I doubt I could have carried anymore.

Tomorrow I have a job interview.. it's for the job that's a bit of a drive from here.. but it makes more money than this photography gig and has more guaranteed hours, so I'd be stupid to turn it down. It's just part time, but the opportunity to work more hours when needed (of if wanted) and the job is a complete breeze... to the point of being boreing.. which sucks, but more money is good, and I can be on the computer while I'm there.. so I may be doing quite a bit of blogging... etc. when I'm working from now on. HAHAHAHAHAHA!.. That and reading... drawing... hehehe.. doesn't matter to me.. I'll be getting paid for it. It will be kind of sad to give up the photography, but recently I've gotten tired of some of the crap related to the job.. not the actual job, just the other stuff.. like the suck ass pay... the paper work... and how other people conduct themselves on the job and how it affects my work load. The job I like, this shit I don't.. and don't get paid enough to do it either.

Tomorrow I have to go to have a blood test before I head off to work.. I told my Dr. that my grandmother had recently been diagnosed with diabetis and she asked if I wanted to be tested, of course I said yes.. this is a fasting blood test, no food or drink from I think midnight until the test. I had desert tonight ... about 9:30 or so.. I hope that doesn't affect the test adversly... probably won't but I thought about that AFTER I had the cake. Doh!

OH, and get this.. Today I get a notice on my door .. an eviction notice saying we hadn't paid our rent and had 3 days to get out. Well.. I know we paid. I remember hubby taking the rent check to them. He says the check has already cleared our bank and tells me how to get a copy of the actual check so I can print it out and take it to the office. I do, it turns out that hubby had accidentally written the wrong apartment number on the notes section of the check - our rent is 913, our apartment is 917, he wrote 913 for our apartment number. So we go in, she checks (like this was a lie or something) and sees what happens, then says that she will talk to the manager about not charging us late charges since it was just a mix up. WTF? Late charges? Why the hell would I have to pay late charges? My rent was IN on the 2nd. It was an honest mistake.

Well I should head off to bed...
Thanks to Jake for the 3XThurday 11/7/2k2 The Comics Page

1. What is your favorite comic strip and why?
As far as comic strips, I'd have to say Bizarro.. it just makes me laugh.. so much. I love comics though.. I read them all day.

2. If you could add yourself to a comic strip as a character in a what would it be and what would you do?
hmmm... probably in Dilbert... I'd be something like Catbert... a little evil and sadistic...

3. If you could stop one comic strip from being published ever again what would it be and why?
Zippy pinhead - that is the Stupidest comic ever published or Garfield... let that poor cat die already

Bonus For Comments: Do you like online comics if so what comics? I like Knights of The Dinner Table

Well gotta go to work.. Don't miss me to much today ;o)

L - I know I've seen it now.. the cow clue... Back to searching... I must find it.
hmmmm... L - I've seen that painting... but I can't remember much about it... I'm looking though...
Ah-ha! The big ole' fuck up last week at the hospital wasn't my fault! Jodi WAS supposed to cover that hospital last week. Tami called me to ask what happened to Jodi, why she wasn't there all week and why I was there Thursday and Friday. Sheesh...

So Winnona Rider is found guilty. I anyone surprised? I didn't think so.. Guilty of Grand Theft and Vandalism. The prosocuter said that they won't be seeking jail time. Just probation, comunity service and restitution to Sax. OK.... why is it the only Hollywood celeb to ever get jail time is Robert Downey Jr. and he get's to take time off to work on his films when he's in jail! If I were found guilty, I'd be getting fitted for my jumper and picking out where to put my jail tatoo at this very moment. Absolutely nuts.

Tatoos... have you ever thought about getting one? I have, but then theres the thought that, ouch it would hurt...and I'd be looking at the same thing for the rest of my life. So that always keeps me from doing it. I mean I'd have to get it somewhere I couldn't see, like my back or my butt. But then I couldn't really check to make sure it was exactly what I want... and then we are right back to the pain. I don't want to deal with that. So... no tatoos for Judy. Besides the thought of being 65 or 70 and having Harley wings on my back makes me laugh. My brother has tatoos... I think 5 of them. BIG tatoos. My brother-in-law has his last name on his back (I guess in case he ends up in prison, the other inmates can tell who he is in the shower. *snicker*), I think he has a couple others... not sure... He looks like a gangster. Another reason to steer clear of getting a tatoo.. although I just don't think I could pull off that gangsta bitch look. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What do you think? *snicker*
L - the Twelve Dancing Princesses is a great story! I had completly forgotten that. I will have to work on some sketches. I was always entranced by that story, the thought of all those shoes!

A - I'm glad you like that site, I love it and get a LOT of recipes from there.

Shoot. I really should be working on finishing up that painting. But I've been sitting here playing games. Bad Judy. I need to look up some pictures of water lilies to finish my painting, and I have, it's just that I need to do some sketches of the flowers and I hate sitting here at the computer trying to sketch something.. it's not very comfortable. So I either need to print out the pictures to sketch from, which looses it's delicate colors.. which I need.. or I need to go get some books from the library.. I need to break down and go get the library card. I still am not liking the painting of the princess from The Frog Prince side, but so many people said that they did like it, I can't paint over it. I didn't think out my background and surroundings when I did the princess, so now I'm kind of deadlocked with what to do. I don't want to mess up the painting of her but I need to add some stuff to the picture so it's not just all princess and frog. I should have done more sketches before I started painting. Rapunzel looks good because I did a complete sketch before I started painting. And then theres the top of the stool. I was thinking about putting Sleeping Beauty on that part.. but I don't know. I have an image of how I want that to look, but I'm not sure I can make it happen. I've never painted clothing so this might be tricky. I might do Cinderella.... same issues though... But I think I really want to do another lesser known fairy tale princess. The little Mermaid is a thought (mostly because that's my favorite fairy tale from my childhood). If anyone has a fairy tale to suggest, I'm open to it. Just leave a comment.

L - I got it! Albrecht Dürer - Study of Praying Hands 1508 Brush and ink heightened with white on blue tinted paper.
I finally got one! HAHAHAHA! Yeah the Martin Luther hint helped. I had to get this one though... I think I'd be kicked out of the Lutheran Church if I didn't get it with that hint!
L - thanks for the link on your site. I have been looking up artists and enjoying all the bio's they have listed! ;o)
L - Damn! I looked up de Goya. The site I looked on didn't have a lot of his works, I thought it looked like a similar style but his biography never mentioned a 'mad' period.. and he had a lot of religious works so I didn't think it really was his work. I was soooooo close! A is right, this is still fun. :oPPPPP

A - a lot of things can be made ahead and frozen. check out All Recipes for some tips and recipes.
L - I'm still looking up that painting... There are a lot of artist from Spain! Could it be Rubens? It sort of looks like his style, but nothing in his biographies indicates he ever had a 'mad' period. I looked up Piccasso because I believe he DID have a 'mad' period.. but I don't think that's his. The only other Spanish painter who had a 'mad' period that I know of was Salvado Dali' (but then again... some would argue there was no end to his 'mad' period...). I visited the Salvador Dali' Museum In St. Petersburg, FL about 4 years ago (it was FABULOUS!), and though he did do many paintings that were not surreal, that was early in his painting... well before he really became a freak. Another hint please! Maybe time period...
Wow.. I can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving growing up was never really a big deal. Sometimes we would go to a relatives house and suffer through a 'family dinner' or sometimes mom would make a big ole' dry turkey so we'd stay home and suffer through that (mom was never a great cook). When I got into my teens I would do the cooking, I loved making all of that stuff... I don't really like eating it... but I love to make it. I remember I would beg my mom to make chicken for Thanksgiving or Chinese food or anything other than the traditional fare. One year I made chickens... but I had to make the rest of the crap to go with it. I didn't really mind. I would stay up late into the night and make pies and homemade bread. Every so often we would have friends over who had no family close by, so it wasn't so bad when I was a teenager. When I got married... well my husband's family had no real traditions for Thanksgiving so we went to my mom's place for those two years (yes and suffered through the dry turkey...). We went to my sister's inlaws for a few years, that was fun.. her mother in law can cook! This year we'll be having Thanksgiving with my inlaws. Over at brother-in-law's house. This should be interesting. I'm hopeing that I can talk them into letting me do must of the cooking... Sister-in-law doesn't cook much. LOL. And I love to cook. I'd like to talk them into having something OTHER than turkey and dressing, but I know that's not going to happen... So.. I'm kind of excited and nervous about Thanksgiving.. I haven't done a holiday with my inlaws in about 5 years. Not that I don't think I can do it, because I know I can, I just am hopeing that my sister-in-law lets me do the cooking hahahahahahaha! A - want me to come over and cook for your family? ;o)
I've done my policital duty and voted. yee-haw.

OK, I have a question for all those who read this... When you were a teen how much responsibility did your parents put on you? Did you feel it was appropriate? Did it help? If so how? if not, explain...

Let me explain why I ask... I have a friend who's teenage son is having some issues in this area. And this concerns me a great deal. I don't have teenagers so sometimes I don't know what to tell her when she asks my opinions about things.

My parents put a lot of responsibility on me. I was expected to do certain things, like chores, school work, be respectful to my parents, be truthful, call when I was going to be late, respect my curfew and get a part time job if I wanted things above and beyond what they provided. I worked all through high school, passed and paid for all of my extracuricular activities (dances, dresses for said dances, parties, etc..), I didn't get in trouble in school, I didn't stay out past my curfew. No I wasn't perfect, far from it. I did argue with my mom sometimes, I skipped school occasionally, I drank and partied with my friends and did a few other things that could have gotten me jail time if caught... but my parents had this rule that whatever I did, I had to be willing to accept the consequences of those actions. ie if I was out drinking with my friends and we got busted by the police, I had allready be told that my parents would let me spend the night in jail. My parents showed me respect and gave me a lot of liberty because they could trust me, I didn't lie to them and respected their rules. But they sure as hell didn't give me a free ride. Everything I got, I worked hard for. And I'm thankful my parents were like that, I don't take things for granted, I can manage my money and I don't expect handouts from anyone.

My friends son... well he has issues with truthfulness, showing respect and having this attitude of entitlement. He always talks about what's 'fair' and how this isn't 'fair' to him or whatever. *sigh* I know part of that is just being a teen, but part of it isn't that easy to explain. Recently he totalled the vehicle that his father gave him to drive. Now he's upset that he will have to earn the money for a new vehicle. I don't see a problem with his parents expecting him to earn the money, hell I didn't get a car until I was married! Anyway.. there's more to it... much more.. I worry about this young man. I worry about him when he's out on his own. My dad always took care of my brother whenever anything happened. He paid for everything, he bailed him out when he got in trouble, he paid his fines, etc. Now my brother is 32 and unemployed... he's never had a job that made very much or that he held down very long.. he's married now, and just recently moved out of my dad's house (he and wife moved there when they moved back to TX) and my dad had to TELL them it was time to go. Of course my dad bailed them out on that also... he found them an apartment and paid the rent for the first month *eyes rolling up in head*. Anyway... I don't want this for my friends son. I wish there was some way to sit him down and get it through his head that once he's out of high school he has to be responsible for himself.

*D - if you have a problem with this being up, tell me and I'll take it down*
Today is election day... I have to go vote...I don't WANT to go vote... but I am going to. My husband has allready reminded me to go vote. The reason I don't really want to vote, is that I don't know jack about the people up for election. In my district it's almost pointless to vote, most of those up for election are running unopposed. And the governers race... well I don't even know shit about the person running against Rick Perry. The only adds I have hear from his opponent can pretty much be summed up "We didn't elect him (meaning Perry), we don't have to keep him." hmmm... ok... no word on his political standings or anything... Yeah, right... It's not that Perry has done a bad job here in Texas... he just hasn't really done anything really. Nothing note worthy. But he also hasn't screwed up anything either (as many of our past governers have!). He has experience in the governers office as Lt. Gov. under Bush... and I honestly don't remember them clashing on issues. So.. I don't know how I'm going to vote. I don't really have a strong feeling for anyone. Maybe I'll just vote straight ticket.... save myself the time of punching all the little chads... wouldn't want to accidentally vote for the wrong person... people would think I was a Democrat. ;o)

Well dang it.. Here I am breaking my rule of no political discussions on my blog. hmmm... bad me. Oh well.. I need to find out where to go vote.

Judy's Answers to the Monday Mission 2.44

1. Have you ever had to appear in court? What was the reason? How did it turn out?

Nope, never

2. Ever been accused of something you never did? Were you able to convince anyone?
hehehehe... yeah when I was little, my sister set something on fire and told mom I did it. Nope I could not convince mom I didn't do it. :oP

3. When it comes to crime and punishment, do you agree with the saying "An eye for an eye?"
I do

4. Are you a judgemental person? Do you ever make up your mind about a person before you know them? When was the last time that happened? Or if not, how do you keep from being judgemental?
Everyone is judgemental it's just human nature, and we have all prejudged people based on things we learn about them.. it's human nature. We don't always admit to it, but everyone does it. I work hard to keep an open mind about people and to not listen to other people's opinions until I've had a chance to make up my own mind. I have to do that because I can be eaisly swayed by others and I think everyone deserves a chance.

5. When I was in 6th grade I lit a match in class accidentally and was given the choice of having my folks called or getting 10 "swats." I took swats and damn, that wooden paddle with the holes drilled in it hurt like hell (not to mention the horible whistling sound it made before impact). I don't think they allow "swats" anymore. Ever get "swats" at school? How do you feel about children being spanked in school. Is it best that they don't do that anymore? How about parents spanking kids? Good or bad?
Never got swats. don't think they should do that anymore, its the wrong kind of punishment for a school to be dealing out.. I don't want anyone spanking my kids. As far as parents spanking kid.. well that's a parents choice.. I'm not going to get into this.. could lead to a novel on here..

6. What is your favorite "Chick Flick?" Hmmm.. I'm not really a 'chick flick' person.. but I did like 'The Truth About Cats And Dogs' that was hilarious.

7. Describe the last situation you were in that can best be summed up by the phrase "seemed like a good idea at the time?" sheesh... last time or one of the funniest times... I'll go with funniest.
Once when I was engaged, my fiance and I went over to my sisters apartment to watch movies and have dinner, one of our friends came over also. So D and I go to make dinner, something Italian with garlic bread. She says that we will put the garlic bread in the broiler and we do. A few minutes later we open the broiler and the bread is completly ON FIRE! We pull it out and chuck it in the sink. The guys only saw flames from where they were sitting in the livingroom, they were like "What the hell?" but D & I were laughing so hard by then. there's more to this story.. and it's damn funny. But I'll stop there... Oh yeah the guys asked us why we put the bread so close to the broiler, our response "It seemed like a good idea at the time..."

Today's Comment Question: What's your favorite saying (currently)?

I'll answer a little later. You answer and post for me to read!
L - I'm still trying to figure who did that painting... Don't tell me yet! My sympathies on the packing... sheesh.. I hate packing... but it will all be worth it... you have your dream apartment!

A - yikes.. I totally understand the whole Thanksgiving Family Dinner issue.... I really don't like Thanksgiving myself. Too much family. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate my family, I just prefer them in small doses and not at a pre-orchestrated 'Holiday' dinner. Those are just awful. Everyone is on their 'best' behavior and there are so many 'expectations' for everyone. It always sucks. That and I really prefer to NOT be around certain family members or certain combinations of family members. My cousin S, is 21 jaded and knows EVERYTHING... just ask her, she drags her boyfriend to EVERY family event, then ignores everyone except her boyfriend, her step-brother and her mom. When she does interact with the rest of us 'lowly' family members it's only to whine about some thing or direct an insult in that general direction.. and be damned if you complain about S to her mother or anyone else who thinks she's a Demi-God. *eyes rolling up in head*. Then there's her mom P, who is a very nice person... normally... but when she's surrounded by family for an 'event' she either acts overly cheery about everything but has no time for a conversation with anyone but those she wishes to impress, or she's wanting to do some family bonding. very odd. Then our other Aunt L, she's always to busy for family. If it's at P's house, she has her head up her ass the whole time or P has her head up L's ass and they ignore the rest of the family. And most of the rest of the family will crowd around L to fawn over her and get a few moments of her attention. People treat her like she's some visiting Queen. *barf* when we are at her house it's a little tiny bit better but not much, she's usually on call if she's near her home, so she has to work.. odd.. even when she knows people are coming for a visit, she's still on call. Then of course add in all the spouses (read - men who happen to be with these women, but aren't actually counted as family... just people attached to the 'family' member... ahhh the luck of being born into a clan of man haters). My sister and I actively avoid holidays with the family. We both are the lowest of the low on the family ladder. This year she'll be with her inlaws for Thanksgiving and will probably go to Hawaii for Christmas. Lucky her! We will be doing Thanksgiving with my inlaws this year.. I'm looking forward to this.. their family is soooo small it's nice. And Christmas... well my grandmother has planned a HUGE Family Christmas at my aunt and uncle's over priced house that's not big enough for everyone to stay there overnight. I'm hopeing to come down with something at the last minute so as not to subject myself and my family to the torture of the Family gathering... (it's a pretty good chance, even unintentionally.. I some how always get something over the holidays...) Again.. not that I hate the family.. just don't like the 'gathering' part.

Anyway.. well that turned into a big whine! lol sorry!
