My (almost) Brush With Fame
I drive the shitty little rental car to work today - ick. Still sounds like a pack of angry rodents under the hood. I get to my second hospital - and it's fucking busy. One of the weekday people came in to help me because she knew it would be very very busy (as I missed work on Friday) - and it lived up to expectations. I go into to one room to take pictures, the mom is from Quebec and has a friend there with her who is speaking French to her. I take the picture of the baby and it turns out good, she's happy. As I'm closing the sale, mom and her friend are talking about the baby's daddy and how sad it was that he had to go out of town today - but at least he gets to play tonight. So I'm just listening, but not really paying a lot of attention. Then the mom starts saying something about something being on an injured list, which peeks my curiosity so I start paying attention as I process the sale. They talk some more about the dad and playing in a game tonight, and how lucky it is the baby came a week early or daddy would have been out of town all week. OK, so I finally ask the mom what her husband does that has him out of town. She says "He's a hockey player." I'm thinking 'OMG - he's one of the Dallas Stars..." So I ask who he plays for (I guess my smart genes shut off the moment she said 'hockey player') and she says The Dallas Stars. I'm such a dork, all I can say is "I love hockey... that's cool... " I think I mumbled that I loved hockey a couple of more times. So I finished the sale and left, the mom was so very nice and appreciative of my taking such good pictures of her new baby, then I imediatly went to the phone and called my hubby - I could not even remember the player's name!! LOL - I was still just so shocked that I had taken his babies picture! I love hockey, but I never get a chance to watch it these days - the little people tend to be intolerant of any programing that is not animated and put out by either Disney or NickJr. Anyway as soon as I got hom I had to call my brother in law and tell him because he's an even bigger Stars fan than I am. hehehehe... I know, I'm a dork.

hehehehe... I feel for another stupid quiz! I couldn't help it, I love this kind of art work - Vargas is my favorite artist of this particular era.

Bizarre... but funny....
Somehow I knew I'd be Pacman.... ;o)
I am Pacman.I am an aggressive sort of personality, out to get what I can, when I can. I prefer to avoid confrontation, but sometimes when it's called for, I can be a powerful character. I tend to be afflicted with munchies constantly. What Video Game Character Are You? |

Busy Friday...
Well... not exactly, but it sounds better than 'Lazyass Friday For Me'.
Not a whole hell of a lot happened today... yesterday... well stuff happened and I was to freaking busy to write about it.
Alarming!!!
Free alarm systems are offered in the lovely townhomes that I currently reside, all you have to do is pay the city permit fee and the management will turn the alarm on for you. We opted not to do it, as we were fucking poor (were? what do you mean were? still ARE) and could not spare the permit fee. Anyway.... we have the alarm key pad next the door anyway, and last week I set it so that it would *beep, beep* when the door is open (because I have kids and need to know when the little sneaks are trying to escape). Yesterday my oldest, Super Girl was being a brat, as she often is (far to damn often) and she went to the key pad and started pushing the buttons. I told her to stop it, then went to make sure she didn't turn off the door chime. I notice the 'Armed' light was lit - which it wasn't before, I thought "That's odd, I never paid for the alarm to be activated." and I opened the door. Guess what? the alarm WAS ACTIVE!! And I didn't know the code to turn it off!! So it's blaring and I'm pushing keys to try to turn it off, Super Girl has started crying because it's so loud and I'm wondering if this is going to alert the police (wouldn't that be just my luck). I finally call the manager's office and get the answering service. They tell me they will get someone to turn it off. In the mean time I find some packing tape and put it over the alarm to kind of dull the sound a bit. It shuts off, but I notice that the red 'Active' light is still lit. DAMN. Hubby had gone to the post office to mail something for me and would be home soon. I call the office again, get the manager this time. Explain the situation AGAIN. She sends a maintenance person over. Of course as soon as Juan arrives and I open the door, the alarm goes off again. He doesn't know the code either (*sheesh* why did they send him over anyway?) after a few minutes it stops, he starts trying to disconnect the alarm, hubby arives home, opens the door - alarm is going again! Juan finally breaks the alarm so it's all peace and quiet from then on. Although I do miss the door chime... but not enough to risk that shit again!
Gumbo Night
I made hubby's favorite - chicken and sausage gumbo last night - it was perfect. (I took a picture, will post later) there is none left today. Ahhhh....
Gumbo Night... Again????
Brother in law called today and wanted hubby to help him with the install of his new DSL, since we have had ours for a while, hubby agrees. We get invited over for dinner. Brother in law made me promise not to laugh at him, because he was making cajun food (because I've been making cajun forever and mine is damn good - he was nervous I'd be a bitch about his). When we get there we see that he's making Chicken and sausage gumbo. hehehehe... Mine is better. I need to teach him how to make a roux...
Shitty Little Car
That's what the marketing pitch should be for the Geo Metro. "Geo Metro... It's a shitty little car, but it's cheap. Buy one today." We got a rent car today because our busted-ass car won't be ready yet. Sheesh... We rented something cheap - so we got the Shitty Little Car. This is BY FAR the worst car I have ever driven. It sounds like 10 angry hampsters under the hood when you accelerate, the shocks... wait... what shocks?, the steering is VERY stiff (needs power steering fluid - hubby and I had a disagreement about - he said that it didn't have power steering - guess who was wrong? hehehe), but... the breaks are good. *sigh* it's only temporary.... Could be worse I suppose.

Wooohooo! Good News!
My sister called a bit ago, she just got the pathology reports on her husband. It's Stage 2 cancer and it was contained - has not spread to any other tissue! YAY! T will still have to have chemo, but it looks like the biggest part of it is over. He is still in the hospital in CICU (Cardiac Intensive Care Unit), and will probably stay there for at the very least until Monday - he's in a lot of pain, but it's finally manageable. Thank God!

3XThursday 3/13/2k3 : Shock Shock Therapy - Judy's Answers Thanks to Jake for the questions
1. So what do you do to cope with stress?
I try to do something that takes my mind off of what ever is stressing me. Reading, drawing, painting, crocheting, cooking, take a walk, exercise, just something that I enjoy and will distract me.
2. Have you ever just got close to snapping or suffered bad effects from stress?
Yes, the last 2 years have been extremely stressful. I have come close to snapping a couple of times. The 7 months prior to February were the worst, I had lots of bad effects from stress - insomnia, anxiety attacks, hair thinning, depression... Thank God for anti-anxiety medication.
3. So what are the great pressures in your life? I am not asking for a Freudian psychoanalysis so just go over the basics.
Finances, parenthood, relationships, family
Bonus for Comments: So do you think all this gizmos and Internet technologies are making our lives easier or harder? Why?
I think they make our lives eaiser. Having so much technology at our fingertips is great. Being able to shop from home (and not with a cataloge), comparison shop, look up information, converse with others... while in my own living room waiting for the microwave to finish warming my cup of tea from Timbuktu delivered the day before via over night delivery from some obscure company with a great web site, and hopeing I don't spill any on my nice silk pajamas that were a lovely present ordered from my favorite shop by my thoughtful husband while he was at work...there is no compairison. I love technology. Life is great.

West Nile Nearly Beaten
It seems that I have almost got this blasted West Nile Virus (cold) beaten. Copious amounts of Sudefed and Nyquill have done quit a bit to relieve my suffering and aid me in difficult tasks (such as breathing!). Today I'm feeling much better, that 12 hour Sudefed works wonders (and gives me a strange buzz). Hubby seems to have succumb to the powerful effects of the West Nile Virus (cold) and now is resting semi-comfortably in his sick bed... I say semi-comfortably because it's difficult to get much good rest with two children bothering you. Hubby is about to the severe whining stage, which makes me tempted to feign being much sicker than I truly am, just so I can avoid his whining. But... that would be cruel as he has been quite a dear and taken care of me quite nicely in my weakend state. *sigh* I'll take care of him. It's not that I hate doing it, it's just that he does whine like a wee baby when he's sick, making me feel a bit homicidal towards him. (*note to self... remember to take your anti-crazy pills).
Nyquil Dreams
The best thing about having a cold is taking Nyquil. I do love that stuff, it lulls me into a nice cozy state of sleep. the odd thing is that I have very bizarre, lucid dreams! Last night was a really whacky one... I won't get into the details for fear that someone might go all Freud on me and come up with something horrible in an analysis. I'm generally a light sleeper and I dream all the time, so I was thinking that with the Nyquil I'd sleep deeper and not wake much at night, nope... I still woke quite a few times. And it such a strange way, I'd wake up and be totally awake for a few moments - (I'd get more Nyquil if it was time and I was all stuffed up) then I'd be sleepy and go right back to sleep a few minutes later. And have more dreams, often continuing where the one I had awoken from left off. Hmmmm... I wonder if taking Nyquil when not sick is harmfull? hehehe... Just kidding.

Ladies Check This Out!!
I love this site! Adios Barbie celebrates women of EVERY size and shape and encourages women to love their bodies "through thick and thin". Check out the hysterical game 'Feed The Model'. Links for books and stuff (check out Vinnie's Tampon Cases!). The articles are great also, very well writen and thought provoking. Well worth a look or two.

A - hehehehe... your so funny, such a hippie at heart, but totally a realist. You were born in the wrong era. ;o)
L - I must get a ricer. I don't know what I'd use it for other than the potatoes, but it looks cool, it's a kitchen gadget and I want it. It looks like a giant garlic crusher.
I liked the little tidbit on your page about nutmeg. I was making oatmeal cookies and I couldn't remember if it was nutmeg or cloves, so I put them both in the cookies (along with cinnamon). Ya know what? I do have a sense of well-being. I don't know if it's the nutmeg or if it's just because I wanted a cookie and these are quite yummy. ;o) A should forget politics and have a cookie.
As for me, I'll stay far far from politics and other such nonesense - I'll stick with cooking. :o)

A- I'm glad someone from your family is going to help you weather the (what appears to be)torrential financial storm you are facing. It's always a blessing when family will help. My family is not like that (ask D) they will help - sometimes - but there are generally strings attached to anything act of 'generosity' that is imparted by them on you. Then they act as if even the tiniest thing they have done is absolutly monumental and deserving of constant thanks and acolades. *sheesh* it's really not worth it to ask for help from them. Half the time they will say no, and give some poor mouth reason, the other half they will say yes with conditions. My sister is not like that. which I am thankful for. yes we do fight, and we have fought a lot in the past year, but that is all water under the bridge now. We had 6 months of not talking to each other and dealing with our own issues and problems with no other help. Retrospectively, It is actually a good thing that it happend - she and I grew a great deal as people. But I digress. It sucks that we have no other family to count on. Right now my sister is going through so much and she really can't count on anyone else in the family, and I can't offer much more than a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen with. Anyway... A - you are lucky to have some family who cares for you and your kids.
Mashed Taters
L and A - with much shame I must admit I make my mashed potatoes from instant. I absolutly hate pealing potatoes. I have in the past made mashed potatoes with the peals on, but I don't think my hubby likes that all to much. And quite frankly I do like the taste of instant potatoes. It's about the only thing I make instant. Well mashed potatoes and instant brown gravy. I absolutly love that, it's complete heaven for me. Although, I don't eat mashed potatoes, or potatoes of any kind all that much - let me explain... my former step father insisted that we have potatoes with most every meal. He would not eat rice and would only allow pasta served once a week (in the form of spegetti and meat sauce or lasanga). So it was potatoes, mostly mashed potatoes. My sister and I were the slaves in the household so we were relegated to pealing potatoes to please his magesty's demands for mashed potatoes and gravy. *ick* So there in lies my dislike for pealing potatoes. I know it's really not that much work, but I hate to do it. I will do almost anything to get out of pealing potatoes. It's crazy I know. I don't mind taking all the extra steps to make a cake or loaf of bread from scratch or take hours to prepare an intricate and elaborate meal. But you can damn near guarantee that it will not include mashed potatoes and gravy from scratch. Viva La Instant Mashed Potatoes!

Gourmet Meals With The Little People
This evening we took the little people to the ever classy Dairy Queen for dinner (I needed to pick up my crazy pills and didn't feel like cooking - DQ is right near Eckerd). So we get to DQ and apparently everyone else in the neighborhood has had the same thought - 'DQ for dinner!'. I take a seat with the little people and hubby orders for us. First they want to play with the salt shaker, then the napkin holder, then they want to climb on the table (all of the above was nixed by mommy right away.), when hubby get's back to the table I tell him to go get ketchup with Super girl - I figured it would keep her busy for a few minutes so I could focus on keeping Cabbage Patch Baby off the table. they return with 4 little cups of ketchup and take a seat to wait for out number. All the while Super Girl has started saying "I'm hungry. I'm thirsty. I want my food." over and over and over. Cabbage patch is wanting to pour salt on the table again. Super girl and Cabbage Patch see the ketchup and of course want it, hubby says no, I say "let them have it - it's a vegetable after all." Hubby gets a smirk on his face then starts laughing. Kids eat ketchup like it's fine caviar and all is peaceful for a few minutes.

Tuesday, Sucky Tuesday
Well it hasn't been just horrid, but it's not been great. Here I sit with a nasty case of that blasted West Nile Virus (a cold). My misery is unending (the last couple of hours of feeling like my sinus were going to explode sucked), if not for the local Witch Doctor (hubby) who concocted a healing brew (TheraFlu) of reched taste (really it is) but powerful enough to induce a healing slumber (knocks me on my ass when taken with a shot of Nyquill). I'm just waiting for the blessed blackness of sleep to overtake my weakened condition and bring me a brief (4 to 6 hours.. not to exceed reccomended dosages per day) repreive from my suffering (constant drippy nose, dry cough and continual sneezing). I've overcome the past pathogens - Anthrax (strep throat), Eboli (horrible food poisioning) and Small Pox (last nasty cold I had), so I have faith that my imune system is strong (I have lots of medication to carry me through this) and I can weather this storm without a trip to the alchemist (doctor) for I fear the black magic she casts which brings excruciating pain before the healing (penicilin shots - hurts like hell). The cost is to great (I couldn't sit straight for 2 weeks!).
OK... enough melodrama... ;o)
Other things...
Something Else That Sucked Today
A couple of weeks ago I located a friend that I have not seen in about 4 years. He wanted to get together for lunch today. Sounds great. So hubby and I got the kids all polished and shined and got ready. Part way to meet our friend, the car stops accelerating... Just stopped. Like it wasn't getting any gas. Then it stopped all together. Shit. On the freeway. I had managed to get over to the break down lane. Hubby had to call his dad to come rescue us, and a tow truck to take the car to a service station. *sigh* so the car is in the shop. At least hubby has been laid off so he won't be missing any work. I will be missing some work though, tomorrow I was supposed to go in, but I had to call and get Evelyn to work for me. Luckily the hospital has been really slow as far as births so it's not been very busy. Actually it's a good thing that I'm not going in, being sick with a cold is not cool when you have to be handling babies. So we didn't get to have lunch with our friend. *sigh* and the car is in the shop *sigh*. Life will go on.
Something Else For Today...
My brother in law had surgery today, this is a part of what my sister sent to me:
Here are all of the pertinent facts:
1. The cancer was found to be much higher up in the colon that it was originally thought to be.
2. The tumor that was removed was about 4 inches long by 2 inches in diameter. (appx)
3. The tumor was diagnosed Preliminarily as Stage II. The results from the pathology lab (due in 3-5 days) could change that Stage to a Stage III, but at this time, we are not anticipating that.
T's tumor is a Modified Duke B1 or B2. We will know better when we get the pathology report from the lab.
Medical Terms:
Modified Duke B B1: tumor penetrates into, but not through the muscularis propria (the muscular layer) of the bowel wall.
B2: tumor penetrates into and through the muscularis propria of the bowel wall.
TNM Staging System (Tumor, Node, Metastisis) (How bad is it?)
Tumor
T1: Tumor invades submucosa.
T2: Tumor invades muscularis propria.
T3: Tumor invades through the muscularis propria into the subserosa, or into the pericolic or perirectal tissues.
T4: Tumor directly invades other organs or structures, and/or perforates.
At this point, we believe that the tumor is a T2.
It is not believed that the lymph nodes are involved, again, we will not know with any certainty until the pathology reports come back.
The doctor has led us to believe right now that although the cancer has spread to just past the colon, it has not metastasized (spread beyond the colon to other body parts). Again, sounding like a broken record, pathology reports will let us know what is going on.
The information above was retrieved from: http://www.oncologychannel.com/coloncancer/staging.shtml should you care to read further about colon cancer.
Because of where the cancer was located, the surgery was a lot more involved than what they were expecting it to be. The surgery was a lot more extensive.
T is in extreme pain and his pain is being reduced by the use of morphine. The morphine is not able to completely relieve the pain, so he is still in a great amount of pain.
Please, say a prayer for my sister and her husband. I belive he can beat this, but I know it's a hard road to travel and I know it will take a lot of strength on his part and on my sister's part.

Monday With The Sniffles
I'm coming down with a cold... which just sucks ass. I hate to be sick, especially with a cold that lingers on and on... And I'm all out of Nyquill.... time for an outing to secure important provisions! Today is my husband's first day of unemployment, he spent a couple of hours this morning looking online for work, and a friend we saw on Saturday (game night) told him about a job that is for part of a week, and is out of town, but it pays so what the hell. He' going to talk to Pete some more about the job. Luckily hubby get's a decent severage package and can collect unemployment. I'll be picking up extra days at work for a while which will help.
My boss is an imbecile. She called me last Thursday to get me to work at one of the hospitals I used to work at for Friday (not my favorite hospital to work either). So I said yes. then she asked if I could work this week at that hospital. I said not on Monday and Tuesday, I have to have time to clean my house and I'be working Wed-Fri at a different hospital. She said she would talk to someone about working for me on Wed so I could work at that hospital on Wed. OK, end of conversation. I get a call at 10:15 this morning asking me why I wasn't at that hospital. That I had said I would work M-W at that hospital. I said, no I said I couldn't work on Monday or Tuesday, I have to have time to clean my house, but said I would work Wednesday. So now she's pissed she has to find someone to cover that hospital. OH well. I couldn't be working today anyway with this cold. I can't work with babies while coughing, sneezing and with a runny nose. I'd freak if someone had come into my room to handle my baby who was obviously sick. Just need some medicine, I'll be right as rain.
Well I need to go clean up this pig sty I call home (Sheesh... why can't men clean house!!).

House Full Of Kids = Barrel Full Of Monkeys
Whew... busy me. I worked yesterday, not to long and the sales were not that great. *sigh* Hubby's last day of work was yesterday also, he and his work mates went to a bar after work and hung out for a while. Eh, what the hell, I'd want to drink copious amounts after getting laid off too (he only had 2 beers though).
My nephew is spending the weekend with us. I love him to death. My sister needs a break. He's 17 (and knows EVERYTHING) and he loves to push her buttons (on a regular, daily basis). With D's husband having colon cancer (not sure how bad it is or what stage or anything yet), him getting ready for surgery on Tuesday, his parents coming in for the surgery (they are there now), D needed some down time. Actually she needs a lot. I wish she and I could go do some fun things - flea market, oriental market, muesum, dumpster diving, anything really. (I really have to work right now, so my time is really limited.) I had a little talk with D's son, about how he needs to be less disrespectful to his mother, etc., etc. and how I didn't understand why he does it, he's never like that to me or my hubby. He said he knew. *sigh* Hate to say it, but the sooner he goes into the army the better. I'll miss him terribly, but D doesn't need the extra stress and it will be better for him to be away so he doesn't say something that he WILL regret later.
yesterday my nephew watched my kids while I worked, my sister called and asked him if he needed help - then just decided to come up and help. It was a good thing, Cabbage Patch baby had a poopy diaper and nephew was not sure what to do. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!
Anyway - It's wild around here right now, the girls love their cousin, it's cute to see him with them. he makes up songs for them while he plays the gutiar.

Waffling About Breakfast
I don't really do breakfast. I used to... but nothing fancy, just cereal with a bananna and milk. I don't do that anymore, somthing about throwing that up while pregnant turned me off to that. Sometimes I'll eat cereal, but not often. Oatmeal, I like oatmeal, but only the way I cook it and with butter and honey or brown sugar. I'm not really big on breakfast foods - donuts are ok, but I don't really want them more than once or twice a year... and I really like them more for a snack than for breakfast. I do like eggs, just scrambled and hard boiled and the occasional omlet. I don't really like sweet pasteries or pop tarts much, and I don't like fruit all that much either - mellons are gross, oranges are too acidic, banannas only occasionally, berries are fine, but hard to get good ones at the store... anyway... I do like waffles. No, no, no... I LOVE waffles. My kids love waffles also. So I have no problems with making waffles for them most days. I have a waffle iron and a favorite recipe. I love to make waffles. And I LOVE to eat them. My favorite is a nice hot waffle with lots of butter and just a touch of syrup or honey - not much syrup though, even no syrup just butter. mmmmm... love them. Anyway my oldest wanted waffles this morning, but I gave up extra carbs for lent... so I knew I could NOT make waffles and only eat one. Hmmm... what to do... so I convince her that pancakes are a good alternative - and I put raisins in them - I don't like cooked raisins - so I wouldn't eat them. The funny thing is, the pancake recipe is almost the same as the waffle recipe, but the kids didn't eat as much of them. Waffles, they always finish completly, but these pancakes, they only ate half of (but Dusty, hubby's cat loved them). hehehehe... funny thing is that I don't like pancakes as much as waffles. maybe it's genetic.

3XThursday 3/6/2k3 - Judy's Answers : The First Rule of Book Club (Questions by Jake)
1. What is the last book you read? What did you think about it?
The last book I read was Desperation by Stephen King, a very good book, it was kind of a companion book to The Regulators (which was pretty good, but not as good as Desperation). I had not read a Stephen King novel in years so I was a bit surprised that I was picking up one to read.
2. What were the last three books that you bought? I have a $20 gift check to BN.com. What should I get?
Last three that I bought... Hubby and I buy a lot of books, we are both nerds, so I'll try to remember... also we switched to checking books out from the library about 5 or 6 months ago to cut down on book buying costs. OK, the last three books - The Hobbit, Feng Shui New Perspectives and a book on tarot. what would I recommend? Well I really love a good true crime novel so I'd recommend that, or maybe recommend a classic Sci fi novel - something by Heinlein, nothing to heavy, maybe The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress - great political commentary.
3. Have you ever read any books that changed your life?
Yes many books have. Stephen King's Dead Zone and Cujo made me afraid of closets. Heinlein's little known, Podkane of Mars helped me find courage to be more outgoing. There are many others, I find a really good book touches me and changes my perspective on things sometimes in only a small way, sometimes in a big way. I read so much, books, magazines, online news stories... I learn something from everything I read.
Bonus Question for Comments: Do you think it is wrong to pirate books, video games and music that is no longer being printed or pressed?
Hmmm... I'm kind of mixed on that. I do think that pirating books, games and music is wrong, but if the particular item is out of print then, I don't know. ...

Blogging Cows...
I saw this on someone else's page. I had to write about this since I have a great affection for cows and cow things (hence my enormous cow and cow thing collection). Raging Cow Blog apparently this is some advertising thing for Dr. Pepper's new drink - some flavored milk thing. I don't care, I love the cow. This is funny. A cow with a blog. HAHAHAHAHA! I guess the funniest thing is that someone came up with this idea for a traveling cow who blogs about her travels, and a bunch of ad execs ok this. Can you imaging trying to pitch that idea? It's insane and ironic... I ironic because someone got PAID to think up this for an ad campaign! I have to wonder what the guy who thought this up was thinking - I mean was he serious or was he like "Well damn I don't have shit, been up all freaking night long, can't come up with shit, OK, I'll just suggest a traveling cow with her blog... they might fire me but at least I'll get a laugh on the way out." Insane. Someone has put so much work into the cow's blog - why can't I be paid to write crap like that! Why? Why? Why?!!!!

A - I think L and your mom and your brother are right, you should stop obsessing about the light. You have enough going on in your life right now, you don't need to be worried about a possible intruder or a ghost (I vote ghost). L and your brother may be right, you might have just imagined/dreamed the whole thing. I know that there have been times when I was deeply stressed that I would have very vivid realistic dreams that left me wondering if things really did happen. Take a deep breath, have some herbal tea, think of something nice and wonderful, close your eyes and relax for a few minutes. Call me if you need to.
Lent
So today is Ash Wednesday, the beggining of the season of Lent. I decided to give up bread, pasta and junk food for Lent. I've been meaning to do this, but have just kept making excuses. And I need to do this, I've gained 12 lbs since Christmas. Damn. I figure I can manage to abstain from bread, pasta and junk food for 40 days. Our pastor once explained giving up something you like a lot for Lent as a reminder of what Jesus gave up for us. Bread, pasta and junk food don't even come close to what Jesus gave up for me, but everytime I really want a roll or a big bowl of pasta and a coke, I'll be able to say "No, this is the least I can do since Christ died for me." I know, sounds sappy but it makes sense to me.

A - I think I'd rather think it was a ghost who turned off the lights or that I'd been suffering from some delusional state and just dreamed the light was on, rather than think it was some intruder who turned on or off the light or what ever reason (honestly it's not likely it was an intruder fooling with the lights).
Cool Geekie Things...
I figured since my snail was found and he was kind enough to come out and socialize or a bit, I would check on the internet for what snails eat. A few pages say they eat vegetables - leaves of lettuce. so I go get him a little salad and put him on it. He came out, and is eating now! I wonder if he'd like some salad dressing next time. ;o)

Missing Pet Found On Ledge!
Well about a month or so ago, one of my pets went missing. I have had a low level search for him in the time he's been gone - although I haven't mentioned it, I have been very worried about the whereabouts of Bob The Snail. But today while cleaning the kitchen, I found Bob behind the faucet. I returned him to his home in the plant. then in an uncharacteristic social display, he slimed around on my hand - this is a first, he generally hides in his shell. the little people were fasicinated that he was out. hehehehe.... they were cute. Pictures later.

Reason To Celebrate?
I have been a fish owner for ONE year today. My One Year Fishie Anniversary. I just realized it the other day, going through some old e-mails (I was looking for something) and I saw one where I was bitching about the sound of the air filter thingie on the tank. Out of 3 fish, I still have one goldfish. Amazing. I didn't expect to still be a fish owner 4 months after buying them! Spike killed his tank mates, I think he was more determined to live.... or just evil and won't die. Last night we went over to hubby's brother's house. I saw my next fish. brother in law has a big big tank and he has this big fish that bullies the other fish out of the right side of the tank. I am going to get my sisters old fish tank (all her fish perished a while back) and take custody of the big bully fish... and we'll see who takes dominance in the tank... Spike or Butch (that's what I'll call the big bully fish). I'll have an Extreme Fish Tank! They'll battle for dominance until only one can be alpha fish. I can't wait. hehehehehe... I know, I need help.

OK, Can I Whine For a Moment?
Well, yeah of course I can, this is my weblog. So here goes.
I work all weekend, I go in at 8 am and I get off when I'm done with my work, not at any set time. So Saturday I go in at 8 am and I get off at 5:30 pm. I know, doesn't sound too bad. Let me explain my day. I go to my first hospital, I go from room to room pushing my big ole' photo cart to take the baby pictures in. When I finish there, I go to the next hospital and do it all over again, and IF there is time I go to the third hospital on my way home. It's a lot of fun and it's a very busy job. AND I don't sit down the whole time I'm there. I walk from room to room pushing my cart, I stand while I take baby pictures and make sales, I don't get to sit and I don't get breaks or a lunch hour - I don't mind, I work commision so if I'm working, I'm making money and if I keep moving I don't have a chance to get bored. It doesn't sound like much, but at the end of the day I'm tired, physically tired. The last thing I want to do is come home to make dinner or clean house. Hubby usually makes dinner (frozen pizza many times. hehehehe) but the house cleaning... well that doesn't happen. So by Monday morning the house is a mess, he's off to work and I get to spend the whole morning getting the house cleaned - and this wonderful morning I got to spend 30 minutes cleaning food spill marks off the carpet. *sigh* He damn well better find a full time job quick or I may commit murder..... grrr....
Ok, all done whineing... have this craving for cheese now... wonder why... ;o)

*sigh* He damn well better find a full time job quick or I may commit murder..... grrr....
Ok, all done whineing... have this craving for cheese now... wonder why... ;o)
Roccia Intitolata Di Movies! Subtitled Movies Rock!
Super girl started flipping the channels on the television a few minutes ago, looking for other cartoons to watch *sheesh* she has decided she wants instead to watch a very over acted Italian (I think) subtitled movie - she can't even read! it's an old black and white movie - I think Anthony Quinn is it it. hehehehe... silly girl.

Pheromones
I must be giving off powerful peheromones. Within the past week I've had several guys from my past call me to get together. *sigh* This would be cool if I really wanted to get with any of them... but... theres a reason they are in my 'past'. Mostly because they are lame in bed... or I just can't stand to be around them! hehehehe... I know that makes me sound really shallow.... But most are unsuitable for 'relationships' and a girl's got needs, not all of them can be reached with something battery powered... so I have my booty-call boys. I know, I know, 'shallow, lame, slutty', well when I meet someone worth having a relationship with, I'll stop all this... and really it's not like I have a new guy for every night, I have one person I see rather infrequently - it's just for booty-calls though. Anyway, most of these guys who are calling, I haven't heard from in like a year or so. And I wasn't really missing them... One of them is so bad in bed, I would fake an orgasm just to get him to get it over with. No no that's a lie... most of them I would just fake it get it over with. Not all of them... and not all the time... it sucks when it's really good to start with, then the next time it's just ok, and the next time your thinking "Shit, get it over with so I can get home to my vibrator." Then you just start making excuses when they call. I mean I am always willing to give a guy a second chance, but when a guy doesn't even try to make it happen for you... well that just sucks. Anyway... they are calling... and I wish they wouldn't.... *sigh* I need a new boyfriend...

Busy Weekend
I have been busting ass at work - which is good. I need the money. After hubby get's laid off this Friday, I'll be picking up more hours at work until he gets a job. I'll miss being with my kids, but having a job I love so much will make it a little better. I'll hate having to come home and clean house - hubby is a slob and not very good at keeping the little people from making huge messes. *sigh* Gotta do what you gotta do though.
Military Thoughts
I just got word that my cousin has been activated and will report for duty March 11th. *sigh* The good thing is that he will most likely stay stateside - he does training.
A friend from another weblog is probably going to be activated very soon also.
Everyone, keep our troops in your thoughts and prayers (regardless of your stand on the politics).
Strength and Resolve
I've been thinking about my sister a lot today. I'm in awe of how she is handle the is situation with her husband. Not that I'm surprised that she's not hysterical, but because I know she's such a strong willed individual that she CAN handle this. Our family for some fucked up reason doesn't give her the credit she deserves. She handles these situations better than most people. Definitly better than I do. When our mother was diagnosed with cancer, I fell apart, eventhough I KNEW she had it - I was in shock that it had spread so much. D, took it very stoicly, listened carefully, asked questions. She comforted me. She pushed mom into looking for treatment options. She was a driving force. For some reason our disfunctional family acts like D falls apart when any medical crisis happens like that. She doesn't, she never has, doubt she ever will. That's me. I do get very emotional when first faced with something like a possible terminal illness... I guess it's my sense of helplessness. I'm great in an actual crisis that needs imediate attention, just not so good in the other. Right now I feel very helpless knowing that there really is not anything for me to do but pray.
D- you amaze me with your strength. Don't forget that I'm here for you... for whatever you need.

PETA SUCKS!
This story pissed me off. Compairisons like this are appaling. And the most revolting and ironic part is that the person responsible for the Holocaust (Hitler) was a vegitarian. Extremists... sheesh

Not Frozen, but Still Not Warm!
Well the ice has melted, the roads are open (been open) but it's still to damn cold! 39 right now. I need to go to the store, would love to take a nice long walk to the store, but it's to damn cold to drag the kids out. *sigh* Damn that guy for hitting my car. grrr.....

Is This My Child?
The other night my husband said something that had me laughing so hard. Super Girl was in the kitchen helping him warm up the soup. So she was standing on a stool stiring the soup. Hubby starts laughing and I ask him what's so funny, he says "Ya know somedays this reminds me of that scene in LOTR where Gollum and is watching Samwise cook and says "Me no like po-tay-toes." Super Girl had asked her daddy what we were having for dinner and when told it was chicken soup, she said "I don't like chicken soup." and made a face. Since she said that I can't make dinner without having visions of my child as Gollum. (I know that's just demented.)

The Best Laid Plans...
Never survive implementation. I had planned to take the little people out to the park today to feed the ducks. I figured that since we had been literally trapped in our house due to the ice, we could all use a bit of fresh air and change of scenery. What the hell was I thinking???? A toddler and a preschooler on a short walk to the lake on a day that was 36 degrees and had melting slush on the grass. It sure did look pretty, but it was an abysmal failure. The ducks were no where to be found (although there were duck tracks in the show!)
, so the little people fed the 'virtual' ducks (threw the bread in the water). By then it was getting to be a bit to cold, the wind wasn't blowing hard, but enough to make it a bit cold on exposed skin. Cabbage Patch baby kept pulling her hat off, Super Girl kept stomping in patches of slush, mommy kept telling them to come on... *sigh* So back home we go, Super Girl starts whineing... the whole way home, lagging behind, telling me she was cold, whine, whine, whine... Oh well... I tried... Maybe next week it will be dry and the DUCKS will be back.

No, I'm GODZILLA!
L, that was so funny... made me think back to my days of underappreciated administrative worker. I once had a boss who refused to read directions on ANYTHING. If he needed to microwave his frozen dinner, he either asked someone to tell him for how long or he just randomly set the time. Another boss had NO freaking clue how to send a fax. One day he came into my office (where the fax machine was) and stood there stareing at the fax machine for a few minutes before I realized he was trying to figure out how to do it. I tried to show him how, but I was far to amused by his ineptitude to do it effectivly and end it with "This is why I work here, just let me do it." One did NOT understand the intercom - I would buzz him and announce that he had a call, if he said anything I could hear him since the line was open, but he didn't understand that. If he had anything to ask, he'd come all the way to my desk to ask me. I tried to explain, but he didn't get it. Or how to transfer a call either... again he'd come down the hall and tell me that line 3 needed to be transfered to whome ever. But the copier thing today in your work place, that's a classic. hehehehe... Someone said "People always rise to their level of incompetance." I guess that's true in their case.

Can Someone Get Me A Drink To Wash Down This Foot?
L, hehehehe... one of my amazing super powers - the ability to say things to offend with out even trying. ;o) (ask my in-laws about that one). I'm quite certain that if you did call in because you didn't feel up to work, you would not have made it public that it was because you started your period. And... you didn't call in, because you have WORK to do, and know that this is just a temporary state of being. My reference are to the women who feel that their menstrual cycle should be public knowledge and that should give them a certain amount of perks and leeway in life. I worked at H&RBlock with a woman who called in EVERY month. Used to piss me off, I wanted to tell her to take a Midol and get her lazy ass into work. (granted, I do know of people who had horrible horrible cycles, but the vast majority of women don't.) I know I sound like a total bitch, and maybe a bit misogynistic myself, I just hate women who use excuses and play stupid or play the victim to get special treatment.

Good Bye To My Neighbor...
Mr. Rogers dies at the age of 74. I'm very sad by this. I loved Mr. Rogers when I was a wee child. I used to get up early on the weekends to watch his show and Captain Kangaroo when I was 11. He was an icon of children's entertainment. *sigh* Although my children have never seen his show (I'm not sure how long it's been off the air), and I've not watched the show in 20 years, I'm deeply saddened by the loss. I always want to really live next door to him, to REALLY be his neighbor. I had little tennis shoes like his and a little blue cardigan (although I never understood why he changed from his jacket to his sweater when he got home... was his house drafty?). I wanted to take a ride on the little train to visit the king and queen. I wanted to sit in his livingroom and listen to stories and sing with him. He was the father I wanted to have (my parents divorced when I was 6), the uncle I wanted to go to the park with. He was a friend (if only through the magic of television), he was family, he was my neighbor. Good bye Mr. Rogers... the neighborhood will never be the same without you.

Word for the day: misogynistic
(m-sj-nstk) also mi·sog·y·nous (-sj-ns)
adj.
Of or characterized by a hatred of women.
Ahhhh L, you always challenge my intelect with your writing. I like that. I had to look up that word, although I had a pretty good idea what it meant from your writing. Well you, A & D all use big words *snicker* in your writing that sound so lofty and elegant, I generally don't because I have atrocious spelling and I'd mangle the spelling so bad no one would know what the hell I was trying to say. Anyway... on to the real subject - I don't watch 7th heaven (I generally don't watch many series shows) I think that many shows portray women in a negative manner, especially soap operas. It confuses me that such negative sterotypes are continually perpetuated day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. Strong independent women are depicted as bitches or unattractive or both. The 'nice' women are weak, overly emotional, codependent and thankful for the 'big strong smart man' who helps them solve their little problems. Sadly, I have worked with several women who fall into that catagory - the helpless, weepy, 'in-need-of-a-man' woman - these women would cry at the drop of a hat and ask for days off because they were 'cramping'. The really sad part is that most men bought this whole act, and yes it was infact an act. All of these women I speak of were in no way helpless or 'in-need-of-a-man' to solve their problems, they just used that act to manipulate people around them. Pathetic. The worst I've ever done was move my car so that it was obvious that I had a flat tire so someone would come along and help me change it - and I only did that because I wasn't sure where to put the jack (my real intention was to get this guy to show me and let me change the tire myself - be he didn't do that, he just changed it). I worked with a woman who called into work because she had a flat tire (she had a spare in the trunk), she waited for 3 hours for Triple A to come change her tire - I lived in the same apartments she did - I moved my car and someone helped me within 3 minutes of me moving my car and getting things out of my trunk to change the tire myself - yes I was prepared to do it myself. Another woman I worked with would cry every time she got negative feedback from her boss. She would go to the bathroom and boo-hoo for 20 or 30 minutes. Everyone just got the impression that she was weak and unreliable and could not handle stress - so she never got a promotion (well that and the fact that she had a bad attitude). Granted, I've known women who played the victim card to get ahead in their careers (totally pathetic) and actually heard bosses give justification for giving these people preferencial treatment because "She's having a hard time since she's a single parent, etc., etc." that made me want to vomit. Anyway... this has really gotten off on a tangent now... Um... I prefer to watch true crime shows and things on the history channel, TLC or Discovery. he he...

Rocky Racoon
I looked out the window earlier this evening and saw a big ass racoon. I ran to get my camera and by the time I got back to the window the fucker was gone. DAMN IT! I've been leary of racoons since the whole dieing rabid coon on my porch incident. The last racoon I saw was this past weekend on my way to work, but that one was in no condition to be photographed... if you get my meaning.
Speaking of that coon, I can't belive I forgot to mention that Sunday was dead stuff on the highway day. On my way to work I saw 2 deceased creatures - one an oposum and the other the above mentioned coon - then I saw two other awful sights, 2 sofa coushins! Just awful - one was a maroon with black and white stripes and some sort of yellow design on it, the other was worse, light brown plaid! Obviously thoes two were mercy killings.

Interesting Ways To Get Here
I checked my site meter, someone found this site by looking for terroist survival gear. Hehehehehe... someone would be interested in what my terrorist survival gear would be. Well mine would include a nice pair of fashionable, yet comfortable shoes, probably something in a low heel incase I need to run, and something that would not stain eaisly - so no suede... I think it would probably be a loafer of some sort. I'd have to go with a nice suit combo - pants of course. something I could layer a nice silk shirt under neith a jacket - definaitly something that dark and machine washable - eaiser to get blood or other chemicals off. Probably a natural fabric that is breathable but warm. I'd like to go with rayon pants, they just fall right every time, but they aren't very warm, and since they are made from wood fibers they are quite flamable and they do shrink, so a nice linen would be my choice - black of course - hides anykind of terrorist stains that might happen. I'd go for a casual yet business like look, not to feminine - don't want to piss off the already pissed terrorist. And that would be my terrorist gear. ;o)

Day 3 of Being Frozen...
A peek out the window reveals only bleak desolate landscape. Everything covered in sparkling white ice. Hopeing this clears up soon. Provisions are running out (almost out of hot chocolate!), food supplies are getting low (no more frozen pizza!). Things are getting tense around here - the natives are getting restless (the kids are needing naps!). Praying for a break in this abominable situation soon (temp is at 31 now, hoping the roads start clearing soon) so I can send a scout (hubby) out to secure provisions (popcorn, pizza and movie rentals) to last us until the end of this crisis (tonight). If the weather doesn't clear soon, I shudder to think of what our fate will be (think of 'Ravenous')... I promise you, I won't be the first to go. Situation getting desperate (severely bored). Maybe we can contact someone in the outside world to send help (call out for pizza). Will update later. Must go try to warm self before hypothermia sets in (gotta go dry my hair).
Respectfully Signed,
General Judy Henri of The Little Fort North of Dallas

If the weather doesn't clear soon, I shudder to think of what our fate will be (think of 'Ravenous')... I promise you, I won't be the first to go. Situation getting desperate (severely bored). Maybe we can contact someone in the outside world to send help (call out for pizza). Will update later. Must go try to warm self before hypothermia sets in (gotta go dry my hair).
Respectfully Signed,
General Judy Henri of The Little Fort North of Dallas

Iced In Texas
Damn it. We are STILL iced over. Very uncool. I prefer my ice in a glass, surrounded by tea or Jack & coke, not on the ground. Anyway, it's sleeting/raining again, the temps are in the 20's and not going to warm up above freezing before tomorrow - if they warm up at all tomorrow. It's been in the 20's all day so not a damn thing has melted here at all, the roads are a complete mess. People who were crazy enough to go out have had a rough go of it. There was a traffic back up that lasted for 6 hours early today - 6 hours! That HAD to suck. I can't belive we are going to have yet another ice day. We generally have AN ice day, not multiple. I'm tired of this. I can't go outside for a walk. Getting cabin fever. And the worst part... hubby will be home from work another day!!!! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!! That totally screws up MY schedule. If things don't warm up tomorrow, I may be out with a blow dryer and an extra extra long extension cord making a safe path for him to get to work. Sheesh...

Proud Of Our Military Family
My sister sent this to me, I found it very touching. (D - I hope you don't mind me putting this up - let me know if you do)
Defenders of Our Country
By D.
I once asked my mother how she felt about her career in the military. She is a doctor, and her job is fixing people up when they get hurt in her branch of the military. She has been at this job, her career for well over 20 years.
Her reply was that not only are persons in the military participating in battles all over the world, they are defenders of the very things that we hold near and dear to us. For those that do not support the position that whatever President and whatever Political Party may be in office at that time, she as a military career woman is to do whatever she can to safeguard the rights of those people in this country to live in Freedom. Whether you love the actions that we are engaged in, or hate them, her job and that of countless others is to protect and defend that right you have to express yourself freely.
Her job and that of countless others is to jealously guard the United States against all enemies, known and unknown. To guarantee that you have safety and security from those who would cause harm to the United States.
When I was growing up, it was a big joke at my High School to say to me "Your Momma wears combat boots". I had only lived with my mother a short time, she was my aunt that adopted me, but those words cut through me and stung me like freezing rain, she was my Momma! They pierced my soul, and made me ashamed. Why could my Momma not do like other doctors and have a private practice and a large home in a swanky part of town? Why could we not live in one place all of my life?
Why was it that she had to go and run, no matter what the weather may be like, so that she could pass her annual physical? Why was it, that in the middle of the night, when she would get paged, that we would have to drop all of our plans for the following day?
Because, instead of truckloads of money and swanky houses with good addresses, my mother has chosen the life of a US Soldier. Yes, the money that she earns is good, but at what cost? For over 20 years, being bounced from one post to the next? For over 20 years having to continually forward your mail over and over and over? For over 20 years, having to pack and unpack like a bad rerun?
Yes, the Armed Forces do have a lot of perks, too. My mother has been to some of the most beautiful places in the world. The mountains that lie near Fort Huachuca. The rice paddies in Vietnam. The wondrous beauties of Seoul. The culture and learning in Washington, DC. The beauty of the rolling hills in San Antonio. Many more posts than that, too. Alaska. El Salvador (I think it was El Salvador. Maybe it was somewhere else) Where I have a picture of my mother and father (Who, by the way is a retired member of the Armed forces, and well decorated in his own right) manning a booth. Both of them wearing hats and grins. My father has been to Saudi Arabia and many more places, where he tells the best story about being served rattlesnake, or something equally un-American, and having to eat it as not to offend the host.
Perks like waking up and seeing rabbits run across your yard because you are not in a big city. Perks like driving up and then down a fire break (rocks used on mountains, so that, in case of forest fires, the rocks will stop the fire from going any farther) in a new Isuzu Trooper, just to see if the Isuzu can do it.
Perks like commissaries, or PX's, where there are some discounts to be had. So many perks.
Years have gone by, many in fact, since I lived at home with my Dr. Mom, and still worry about my mother. She is still in the service, still a defender of our great nation.
Now, the boots have been passed, as my son prepares to make his way into the Army. I have all of the emotions of a nervous hen. I want so badly for this to go well, but I also want to protect him.
My mother gave me a piece of very sage advice. She told me "He is the protector of the breach between freedom and evil. Between anarchy and order. Don't hold him back from his task."
So, now, I ask you to hold in your prayers my mother and my son as we are preparing to possibly go to war.
If you see me on the road, just honk your horn and yell "Your Momma wears combat boots!" and I will smile and wave back. Because you know what? She does, and my son does, too!
Hugs

Winter Fun
Super Girl convinced her daddy to take her out in the ice. He was dieing to do it as well. So my two oldest kids are out freezing. *sigh* I didn't want to go, it's ice no snow, so it's NO FUN. But they couldn't wait to get out there. I'm sure they'll have fun. I worry though. Neither of them are very graceful. They are accident prone. In the ice.... *sigh* I think I'll go make sure I can find the insurance cards.

Boooo! Do you belive in Ghosts?
I do. I've had incidents of hauntings and contact with spirits/ghosts/whatever. My cat that I had for 8 years (who died about 8 years ago) stayed with me until about 7 months ago, when all the turmoil got really awful in my life, I told my husband about that, I was truly disturbed that she was gone, and he told me that maybe she was with the people who needed her more. That made me feel better, thinking that she might just be watching over someone. I know, sounds freaky and weird and your probably wondering why I'm bringing this up. Well my oldest, Super Girl, came into my room this morning as she always does, she got in bed with me and talked, part way through she looked at my open door and said "there's a ghost in here." I asked her where, she pointed to the open door, so I asked who it was, she said she didn't know, asked if it was a boy or girl, then she said it was 2 ghosts, a man and a woman. By this time her gaze was at the end of my bed as if they had walked into my room. I asked if they were kids, she said no. I asked if they were young or old, she said no, they were grandpa and grandma. So told her to talk to them, ask them why they were here. She did, then said they were looking for their baby. I asked what was the baby's name, she asked then told me the baby's name was Cirrus. A very odd name for a child to just pluck from the air - she generally names her dolls Sally or Chuckie (that's what we started calling one of her babies - creepy doll) - so I asked her to repeat herself, she said Cirrus very adamantly. Then hubby came down stairs with the baby, Cabbage Patch and Super Girl ran out to see them, so that was the end of it. Weird though.

Making Excuses For Life
My sister and I were talking the other day, she was frustrated because with a friend of hers. This is someone I know as well. D and Genna had an arguement... again... Genna is an abrasive, negative, depressive person. The specifics of the arguement are totally unimportant, what was is that Genna has a habbit of being a bitch and later explaining her actions by saying she was having a bad day, tired, stressed, worried, etc. but never really appologizing for her actions. Never taking responsibility for what she said or did. This type of behavior seems to be rampant. I know of several people who do this to excuse their bad behavior. I don't know where these people get that having a bad day, being tired, stressed, hungry, worried, etc., is an acceptable and excuseable reason for bad and abusive behavior. There are no excuses for taking things out on other people. I do realize that these type of things can make one more sensitive and more irritable thereby making it more likely that an arguement will happen. Still... not a good reason for acting badly. People know when they are having a bad day, are tired, stressed, hungry, worried, etc., and therefore should say so right away so that thoes around you are aware and will maybe take more care with their own actions as to not piss you off or you should watch your reactions very closely. I'm sure people are thinking, "Yeah right, eaiser said than done." Well, it is possible and I've done it. I've had probably the worst year and a half that I've ever had in my entire life, the last 7 months being the absolute worst ever. And I've been under an enormous amount of stress. I've had months and months of 'bad days' and I've had months of depression and worries. I did not take it out on other people, I did not sit around and feel sorry for myself, I did not continually complain about my sad, sad life. I did get help, I did talk to a counselor, I did talk to my dr. and get on anti-anxiety/depression medication, I did look for solutions and I did work hard to focus on how things would get better and what I could do to make my life better until my situation came to an end. Most people had no idea that I was going through anything, my hubby didn't even realize I was having such a bad time with anxiety attacks and depression. No I wasn't a saint during this time, and I didnt' always act nice, but when I was a bitch, I just said I was sorry and would work hard to NOT do it again, I didn't use my situation or mood as my excuse.
Someone said on another site I frequent, that the world could use a lot more kindness - I do agree with that, but I think the world needs a lot more common sense and a lot more people to take responsibility for their actions.
Ok, enough. I gotta go make lunch. ;o)

Frustrating things....
Grrr... I'm sick of the ice. Practically everything in the Dallas area is shut down today - the roads are bad - including hubby's work. I knew that he would be home today since he got off work early yesterday and the sleet continued to fall all night long - but I was somehow deluding myself that by him being home I would be able to get a few projects finished. Not happening. Hubby stayed down here in the living room with me until about 9:30 am (he got up at 8 am) - and he's been up in his room fooling with his computers the rest of the time. Grrr..... I just wanted a few hours to do some things. Me things. I know he works 40 hours a week, but I work at least double that - I take care of the kids M-F from the time they get up until the time they go to bed, and I clean house and cook for the family as well as do laundry. Then Sat & Sun I work at the hospitals... and get to come home take care of the kids most times. Don't get me wrong, I love my life. I love my jobs - being a mom is the most fulfilling thing I've ever done in my life, and being a photographer brings me so much joy and satisfaction. I do need some time off sometimes. I guess I just assumed that hubby would be more participatory around the house... my fault for making an assumption. *sigh* I feel better now. Really, I do. Just helps to vent a little. :o)

Awwww.... what a ... um.... UGLY baby!
Generally speaking babies are not ugly, some are funny looking and some are down right adorable, but most fall into the typical baby look, which is kind of cute and drooly. Premie babies look kind of funny for the first couple of months or so, but not generally ugly either. So anyway, towards the end of the day on Saturday, I took a picture of a baby boy that was a very unattractive baby... tiny and skinny, bald, wrinkley and a long pointy nose! YIKES! I take his picture (never mention that he's ugly...) and they come out good. Move on to the next person, then I'm done . I take my cart to the nursery to put it away, and while I'm transmitting the pictures for the day, a Dr. comes in to the nursery to do a circumcision. A nurse brings the victim - I mean patient - a few minutes later. Then I hear the Dr. & nurse talking about what an ugly baby this is. hehehehe... it was THAT baby.

Busy Ass Weekend!
Whew - work kept me busy this weekend. I worked from 9 am to 5 pm at one hospital on Saturday (I don't get breaks or luch - just on my feet pushing a cart the whole time - from room to room, taking pictures - it's a great job) and I busted my ass on Sunday so I could get done by 2:30 pm - I did - barely. It was a profitable day - I made almost $200 in commision. I can't wait for that check!
Friday was busy for the hospital in the manner of births, that's why I was so busy on Saturday. Lots of c-sections (which boggles my mind). Anyway - I love my job.

Important Things...
OK, my family is going through a lot of stress right now, if anyone reading could spare some prayers and possitive thoughts I know everyone would appreciate them.
First - My brother in law is very ill and the Dr.s don't know what it is, but one of the things it could be is colon cancer. Brother in law is young - just a few months younger than me (31). He's been going for test for quite a while and next week he goes for a really big one, hopefully the ONE that will diagnose him. So please pray that it isn't cancer and that it will clear up quickly.
Second - My husband get's laid off on March 7th. Pleas pray for the obvious, that he finds a good job soon that has good benefits.
Third - my nephew is about to graduate from High School (early) and will be joining the army. I'm excedingly proud of him and nervous for him as well.
Forth - a good friend of mine is having some major financial issues.
Fifth - I need some excitement in my life! I need a new, fabulous boyfriend! OK, I probably don't NEED one, but it would be nice. If you don't want to pray for that.... I'll understand. :o)

Need A New Subject...
Yeah I know, I've been talking about my kids to damn much lately, I'm sure that's not very interesting to ya'll.
On to another subject. Hubby saw an article about a bill that's been introduced to the house legistature. It's a bill to ban gays and lesbians from adopting in Texas. What next? A bill to take children from GLB parents? Sheesh. Texas law makers are so backwards.
I urge anyone who lives in Texas to take a few moments to write your congress person.

Well At Least It Was Something Different!
Yesterday the toilet, today the carpet. The morning Super Girl (that's what the oldest has dubbed herself) poured BLUE nail polish on the stairs. Uggh... I got the little blue hand print cleaned off the wall, and the blue smears off the rail, and much of the spot up from the carpet but not all of it. *sigh* have to get more nail polish remover and try again.

What a Way To Start Day!
As usual the little people come into my room and bounce on the bed telling me they want breakfast. *sheesh* you'd think I was their mother or something.... oh, I am... never mind. So anyway - I get out of bed and go to the bathroom... the toilet over flows... everywhere (hmmmm I bet it had something to do with the little people flushing half a roll of tp down the toilet the night before - no that wasn't on the roll - they were kind enough to remove it from the roll first). Damn... so I send the oldest little person upstairs to get the plunger out of daddy's bathroom and throw towels down to soak up the mess. She comes back with plunger, I send her off for more towels... then more towels... and more... *sigh* so I had this icky wet mess to clean up. the upside to all of this? My bathroom is now super spiffy clean and all of my towels are too! hehe
Be Careful What You Say...
The oldest of the little people is very funny. She's at the stage that she takes things very literally and repeats things that are said to her. And often at inopertune moments. The other day she was being a brat (actually that's quite frequent at this age), throwing a fit in the car, saying "I want candy!" (she saw that we bought some at the store and wanted it NOW.) me being the good mommy that I am, didn't want her to have it at that very moment. She continued to say "I want candy!" so I started saying "I want a million dollars!" Eventually that amused her and she stoped bitching. Just a few minutes ago she said "Momma, give me million dollars." To which I replied "I don't have a million dollars." then she asked "why?" hehehehe... good question... why don't I have a million dollars? I think I deserve it. I'm totally worth a million dollars - at the VERY least. ;o)

Didn't Happen After All...
I went to the ortho to get debanded this morning, but it didn't happen, the orthodontist wants to do a little more work, he says that it will take about 2 months. He's being cool about things, not charging me - which is good, because I've been the worlds worst patient. I was embarassed that he made such a fuss that I came in. *sigh* Well I have to go back at 5 pm to get the top wire put back on and the bridge - they are doing adjustments right now.

Can People Really Change That Much?...
Something strange happened this weekend. We had a game... no that's not the strange part, that is normal, we have games twice a month... anyway, we had some new players... no, that's not the strange thing either, we have new players a lot... anyway one new guy was will and he brough his little boy with him - the little boy is about 3 months younger than my oldest, and they played together. The little boy is really smart also, he can spell and count already, he was way beyond my little one. He was a sweet little boy too. Anyway after everyone left, hubby and I were talking about the game and the new people. Hubby said "and you even got along with Jesse." I looked at him like he was crazy. Then he says "Wil? Jesse? You got along with him." I was shocked! I didn't realize Wil and Jesse were the same person. Let me explain. Before we got married, hubby had some friends who he gamed with, well our gaming groups merged. One of the people from his group was Jesse. I could not stand Jesse. He was a moron. One time he got a ride to come to a game, then at the end of the game he says "I don't have a ride home. Can somebody give me a ride?" Sheesh.... One of our friends who is to nice for his own good drove dumbass home. Anyway, Jesse was just plain stupid, the kind of stupid that would make me nervous that he was out crossing the street by himself. Hubby told me a month or so ago that Pete still talked to Jesse and that Jesse now went by Wil and that he was married, yadda, yadda, yadda. I didn't care. I never liked Jesse and didn't want shit to do with him. Anyway, the person who was here on Saturday night was nothing like that other person. This guy didn't even look like Jesse (he had gained about 50 lbs) and he didn't seem so damn stupid either. How is that possible? I mean how is it possible for someone's IQ to increase this late in life? To gain basic common sense? I'm confused and not completly sure it wasn't the work of aliens.

Yesterday's Adventures With The Little People
Ahhhh yesterday...... a day that was as trying as it was entertaining.
Here is how it went:
The kids sleep untill 8 am - which is rare - I make them a scrumptious breakfast of breakfast tacos - they both love tortillas. About 10 am my best friend from high school calls, we talk for about 5 minutes, during this time the little people go upstairs to play in their room (so they say), about half way through my phone call the oldest comes down and gets the broom. I tell her to leave the broom in the kitchen, she says she needs to sweep, I ask what, get a vague answer (should have been my clue that something was wrong), I tell her again to put the broom away, she continues up the stairs, pretending not to hear me. I get off the phone and head up stairs - I know that having the broom upstairs is not a good idea. As I reach the top of the stairs I see that she and her little cohort (sister) have poured the brand new container of cat litter all over the landing. Grrrr.... I tell them both to go sit on their bed so I can clean this up. 10 minutes of cleaning and funneling the cat litter back into the container later, I take both children downstairs for a much needed bath. I hope in and get bathed with them (ah such is the life of a busy mom, never a private bath). The kids get water all over the floor so I get out, wrap in a towel, throw down the other towels to dry the floor and go to the laundry room to get a couple more towels. On my return I see the oldest standing in the bath tub pouring something. I ask her what she's doing - no answer. I get closer. I see what it is. The brand new bottle of baby shampoo. AAAAAAAA!!! Mommy is angry now... or should I say AGAIN. Get the kids out of the tub, dried off and dressed. I tell the oldest that mommy is angry that she poured out that bottle of shampoo and not to do that again. Lunch then nap time. the littlest of the little people always goes down half an hour before the big one as the big one invariably wakes the little one and plays for a couple of hours. So I put the big one to bed 30 minutes later, in her daddy's room. Tell her to STAY in bed and GO to sleep. About 1:30 pm I hear her messing around with stuff, and the baby making noise... so up I go.... She's in her and her sisters room, she's poured the cat litter out on the floor AGAIN. AND she messed up her daddy's room. I clean up the cat litter... again. Close daddy's door. Put her in her bed - theaten her life ;o) and take the baby down stairs. She sleeps finally.
Later, daddy comes home. I tell him that the big one messed up his room. he goes up to change and comes down VERY angry. Seems the little one did more than just take the sheets and blankets off his bed. She poured out the new bottle of TUMS, poured out all the carpet fresh and ALL of his lube... all together. He was quite pissed.
Today, she's not getting to go upstairs with out momma. *sigh*

Cold Ducks Went Hungry.
The Duck Feeding Party that was planned for my oldest's birthday didn't happen. I had been a little worried about the weather as a cold front had moved in. The begining of last week (when I started planning the lake party) the forcast said it would be cloudy and 54. Well as it got closer to Sunday the temperature started to drop. Sunday morning I left the house at 8 am to go to work - as usual - well it was snowing! ICK! Nothing was sticking to the roads, but there was snow in the bushes and grass - and MY CAR. Grrr... so I had to clean off my car before I left. The wind kept blowing all day and the temperatures didn't get out of the low 40's. The party was moved into our town house. Which worked out just fine, 2 of the kids who were supposed to come were sick, so it was just my little people and their cousin. The little people had fun, grandma and grandpa came as well as an Aunt. My poor little one, it sucks to have a February birthday here in Texas - you NEVER know what the weather will be like. Her first b-day it was WARM, the second it turned COLD that very day, her third she was EVIL hehehe and this one it was COLD and WINDY.
Well I need to go now, gotta head off to the store before naps, have just been waiting for it to warm up a bit.

Why? Why? Why?
Why do kids work so hard to piss off their siblings? I ask this because my oldest seems to take great pride in this ability, which always causes the little one to shriek and cry, and for me to have to interven. But inevitably just a few minutes after such an incident, the little one is right back with the big one. It's a never ending cycle.

L - I love the apartment! That is soooo beautiful. And your flowers are quite pretty as well. And a note on the flowers... Just because there are red roses in the arangement does not mean there are any implied romantic/sexual intentions from the boss. Now if he gave you just red roses... well then I'd question him. Just accept them as what they are, a blatant suck up from the boss. :o) I used to have a boss who would get all the girls in the office a box of chocolates and take us all out for lunch on V-day. I personal would have rather had flowers as the chocolates were generally gone in a matter of minutes (it was a small box), but I still appreciated the thought. Anyway - sounds like your boss can be thoughtful from time to time. btw - is this the 'pale suede cowboy'?

Emergency Survival Kit
Hubby and I were talking the other night about how the media is play up the terorist threat and advising that people put together a Terrorist Attack Emergency Survival Kit. Hmmm... that's kind of extreme to me... BUT since I do live in Texas and the tornado season will be here before we know it. Here is the list of things that are suggested for a Emergency Survival Kit.
Judy's Terroist & Natural Disaster Emergency Survival Kit
Battery-powered radio, flashlights, batteries
Got that flashlight and radio, need more batteries. Also need to add several CD's to listen to.
Whistle
Got it in the kids musical toys. I'll just pack them all in, it would be cool to be signalling for help with a tamborine and moraccas!
First aid kit and manual
Got to replenish the first aid kit, what do I need the manual for? I know how to put on a band aid! (actually I have taken CPR classes and First Aid classes)
Hard hats, dust masks and eye goggles
Hard hats? Can you get a 'family' set of hard hats? Dust mask? Can I just put a bandana over my face? How bout just sunglasses?
Duct tape
Where would be be with Duct Tape!!!
Fluorescent tape to rope off dangerous areas
Um... ok.... where would I find that in Home Depot?
Water
Got that. And Dr. Pepper
Food (canned, no-cook, packaged snacks)
Prepackaged snacks.... Twinkies!
Manual can opener
for twinkies?
Cash and credit cards
hmmm... ok, if I go somewhere that accepts credit cards, why wouldn't they accept checks?
Change of clothing, rain gear, and sturdy shoes
can they be pretty shoes?
Blankets or sleeping bags
got that
Fire extinguisher (A-B-C) type
got that
Infant and feminine hygiene supplies
mmmm... no comment.... no one wants to discuss that
Essential medicines and eyeglasses
Note to self, pack crazy pills.
Names, addresses, and telephone numbers of doctors and pharmacist
That will be on the crazy pills bottle
Food and water for pets
What? They can't eat twinkies and DP?
Large plastic bags for trash, waste, water protection
Protection? someone explain that to me.
Toilet paper and paper towels
Hmmmm.... this list is getting pretty long, I guess I'm supposed to have a big area for us to hole up in....
Charcoal grill or camp stove for outdoor cooking
Ummmm.... then why do I have to buy the supply of things that don't need to be cooked?

Scary Shit...
Texas bill aims to ban gay foster parents
Hubby and I have been following this for a while, waiting to see what the extremely conservative, homophobic Texas law makers will decide. It boggles my mind how they can make the judgement that being gay/lesbian/bisexual makes you unfit to be a foster parent (and in Florida - makes you unfit to be an adoptive parent). I fear this bill passing. Fear what will come next if this does pass - banning gays/lesbians/bisexuals from adopting. Then what? Making it possible for the state to take children from parents who are not straight? Make it illegal to be anything other than 'straight'?
I don't think the lawmakers are considering the impact of this bill very well. The Texas foster system is extremely over loaded at the moment. By making it illegal to foster if your GLB that would take several foster families out of the pool and would eliminate many other potential foster families. This is a potentially dangerous situation. Over crowding in Foster Homes just leaves the door open to abuse and neglect - for children who are already being removed from their home environment due to alleged abuse and neglect. Though there would be relatively few foster families affected by this bill passing, any number of foster homes being affected is too many.
For an agency who is supposed to be so 'concerned for child welfare' they aren't thinking this through very well. If you are in Texas, take the time to write your state representative about this.
Texas Government Online and Texas Legislature Online
Hmmm.. is it obvious that I have a very dim view of Child Protective Services? ;o)

Judy's Answered to 3XThursday 2/13/2k3 : World Class Thanks to Jake for the questions. ;o)
1. What is the one country on the planet that you would like to visit but have never been to?
Well I haven't been to many places so just about anywhere would be cool for me. I would love to see Italy - all the regions - and to experience the food and culture.
2. If you had to pick another country to be born and raised in besides your native one what one would it be?
Hmmm... I think New Zeland.
3. What country actually really scares the hell out of you?
Hmmmm... North Korea...
Bonus Question for comments: What do you think is the sexiest accent know to human kind?
Hmmm.. I really like the different accents from around the US... But I do think I do love the European accents.

Scott Baio!!! *ahhhh*
Scott Baio Bio
Ever wonder what happend to the 'critically aclaimed' actor Scott Baio? No? Me either... But I was watching TV and channel surfing - looking for something for back ground noise - and guess what was coming on? that awful show Charles In Charge! I'm sure that's probably one of the more embarassing moments in Mr. Baio's career. But I remember a time he was SOOOOOO popular. In fact he was one of the FIRST actors I had a major crush on. HAHAHAHA! I even had a poster of him. *snicker*
So I look on the internet for info on him. hehehehe...
Read this for a laugh - especially the last sentence. Where could he be?
One of the funniest things I found was this:
List of Scott Baio Movies On VHS
Clearance! BWHAHAHAHAHA!!
This particular article will give one a good laugh:
Scott Baio
I like the part about the Playboy Mansion! hehehehehehe... neighborhood bicycle... hehehehehe...
Apparently there was a rumor that Scott Baio was dead that was circulating around the same time that Chris Farley died... I never heard about that though... Scott Baio that is, I did hear about Farley... so... I doubt it was much of a concern to the masses... it was however enough of a concern to Mr. Baio himself for him to issue a statement "I'm not dead."
Scott Baio Lives
Such a popular actor as he is, it is hard to imagine that there are thoes who dislike him and even revel in his misfortune (not being able to get an acting part... could it be his lack of talent hindering him?), and I'm not just talking about Conan O'Brien! This guy put up a page to him. LOL
Unemployed Actor Of The Month
and to finish off this post... a religious piece on him *snicker*
Hmmmm....
Hmmmm.... that confuses me... I thought it was.... eh... never mind...
Actually this page Baio Bio has the best line to end a post about Mr. Baio - I wish I had written it! Read the last paragraph. ;o)

WallyWorld Has It All!
except the one I went to today... So after I left the orthodontist I went to WalMart, I needed some things and wanted to walk around to calm myself down. So I go to one that I rarely ever go to, it was all big and new on the outside so I'm having visions of a lot of new stuff to choose through - thinking craft section really. And I needed to get some things for the birthday party for the oldest little person. Well the store isn't full of new stuff, it's kind of half full, they are in the process of the remodel and don't have everything on the shelves, and don't have everything in the right place. *sigh* So I go to the craft/fabric section to look for some material to make some curtains for the little peoples' room and some more to make dress up clothes for them. I can't find exactly what I want, but I find some stuff that will do fine. Then I look for the food section to get cake mixes. Well that's one of the sections that's only half done. *sigh* I can't even find the cleaning products section so i can get some more dish washing powder. So I leave.
Why does WalMart Suck? And WHY do I keep going there? Oh yeah... because they are cheap... 'nuf said.
except the one I went to today... Fuck....
Well I didn't get my braces off today. *sigh* I had my husband come home early to watch the little people so I could go. I get there at 3:20 for my 3:45 appointment and am told my appointment was at 2 pm. DAMN! And they are booked solid today so they can't fit me in. SHIT! I'm scheduled for next week - Wednesday at 11:30 am. I will be there this time. I didn't realize how very much I was looking forward to NOT having braces until I was told I'd have to wait. I almost cried. Life sucks some times.

Judy's Answers to the Monday Mission 3.06
1. In the states, every citizen is expected to perform their civic duty and serve on a jury at some point. This week, I am on jury duty. Have you ever had to serve on a jury?
I've been called for jury duty 4 or 5 times, but never had to serve. Been a student a couple of times, one time got the notice the day before I gave birth, another time got the notice a week after I was supposed to show up and couldn't get day care another time.
2. If you were to ever serve on a jury, would you be able to give someone the death penalty?
Oh hell yes, I might even volunteer to do it for the state depending on how heinous the crime was.
3. One thing that concerns me about jury duty is what my life would be like if I had to convict someone. I'd always be worried about some sort of retaliation from the convict, or their family. Has fear of negative consequences ever kept you from reporting a crime or voicing your opinion?
nope, not afraid of that. I've never been a witness to a crime or anything but I doubt I'd feel fear from that. As far as voicing my opinion, I do that all the time with little or no concern for the negative consequences... I'm very outspoken.
4. When it comes to convictions, I've never even been convicted of speeding (accued yes, but heh, never convicted). Have you ever been accused of or convicted for breaking any laws? What's the real story there?
got a speeding ticket a couple of weeks ago - but will take defensive driving so that will be removed from my record. had a ticket for no insurance and one for no valid inspection and that's it. Never been to jail or anything ;o)
5. It looks like I will have a lot of time on my hands this week in the jury pool. I may get called, I may not. If not, I go back tomorrow. Rinse, wash, repeat. How would you pass the time if you had to sit and wait around from 8am-5pm for 5 days?
I've had to do that before, sit and wait around all damn day. I generally try to bring a book or sketch pad and pencils, maybe knitting. Sometimes a notebook or journal so I can write things - mostly odd observations of people around me.
6. One thing I do like about this "civic duty" is that it will be at the downtown courthouse. I LOVE downtown. There is just so much life there. What part of your town is your favorite to visit? Why? What makes it so special?
My particular town has a beautiful historic downtown area, I love all the antique shops there. My favorite place to go in the Dallas area is a wholesale shopping district off Harry Hines - best deals for great stuff - also Little Vietnam (aka central Garland) where all the cool oriental stores are and a huge dollar store. D and I love to take the little people there.
7. I'm not that outgoing around strangers, so I doubt I will be meeting many new people this week. Do you have any problems striking up a conversation with someone you don't know? Have chance encounters with strangers ever led to interesting new relationships or opportunities?
I'm not really shy. I love to meet new people. I've met plenty of people in chance encounters and had plenty of interesting relationships due to it (and I'm not strictly talking romantic/sexual - friends mostly). Life is all about chance encounters and opportinities, you just have to be open to it.
BONUS: So if I tell you that you're really something baby, will you stay or will you go away ?
Hmmm... depends on if your going to wear that in public...
Today's Comment Question: What toppings do you like on your pizza?
I prefer to make my own pizza - I like artichoke hearts, olives, mushrooms, broccoli, lots of sauce, basil, tomatoes, peperoni and lots of cheese. I really love pizza so I like most pizza that doesn't have bell peppers or onions on it.

Cooking Shows
L - I'm totally with you, I absolutly love watching cooking shows - even if it's food I would never put in my mouth! I have never heard of the one you mentioned, I will have to look for it. I love watching shows like that. I did know a lot of thoes things, but I'm a total foodie - I love to cook and I love to eat (my wide hips are proof). One of my favorite shows to watch - but had some of the most vile food was Two Fat Ladies. One item I vividly remember was called a Scotch Egg - and it's pub food. It's a boiled egg, covered in sausage then breaded and deep fried! When all is said and done, it's about the size of a softball. I'm sure that consumeing just ONE of these would be enough to give one a corinary, but I'm damn'd curious if it tastes good! I used to watch this one show that came on PBS on Sundays, it was a chef who went to rural places in Louisana (where I was born) and shows how to make some of the old local dishes - he also does a little history into the food and the particular city or town it's native to. I love that show.

Saturday Night Movie
We watched Signs and Rush Hour 2 tonight. Here's my thoughts on it.
SIGNS
I was thorougly disapointed with this movie. It wasn't even half as scary as I was expecting. (although hubby was scared. hehehehehe) It was slow starting, and Mel Gibson, who I do consider to be a pretty good actor, was just stiff in this movie! I liked Joaquine Phoenix in the movie - although his part was very limited. I was disapointed that the movie was less about alien invasion and more about this former reverend's loss of faith and the things he goes through that bring it back. By the time that they were hiding in the cellar I was having visions of Return Of The Living Dead - and regretting not actually watching that movie instead. Predictable... Not scary... Sloppy story... Fell short.
Rush Hour 2
If you've seen the first one, you've seen this one. But I liked it. It was funny. Jackie Chan kicks ass, Chris Tucker is a riot - I loved the Michael Jackson impression. I know I'll see a 3rd movie if the make it, no matter how predictable it may be, it's just funny.
Well I should go to bed, I'm tired. I had a long day at work - got off at 4:30 pm and I know that I have at least 5 babies to take pics of before 11 am. Busy, busy...
