Somehow I knew I would be....

You are red. You are impure, but noble. You are precious and true to yourself and others. When you love, you love entirely, and will do anything to make your love happy. You are sure of your identity, therefore, you cannot change others or be changed. You are a true prince, you may be forgotten, but without you, none of us could go on.

What inner color are you?

Interesting little quiz, although I don't know any of these Jap-anime characters. I gotta stop taking these silly quizes - makes me look uninteresting...

(few minutes later)
I went to that quiz site to look at the other colors... freaky - the art work is kind of erotic but also hints of violence - kind of like some of the Jap-anime I watched a long long time ago (not my choice - boyfriend at the time loved it). It's almost disturbing. The only color that doesn't seem to have an erotic nature is PINK, but the rest do to varing degrees. Very odd.

Blue Bell - Best Ice Cream In the Country!

This evening, hubby went to the store to get french bread to go with dinner - I made crawfish etoufee - not my favorite thing to eat - at least not the way I made it tonight, but hubby loved it. Anyway - that man can never just get the item he says he will purchase, he came home with 3 bags of things, one contained 4 of the pints of Blue Bell. hehehehehe... Dutch Chocolate, Moo-lenium Crunch, Cookies and Cream and Good Heavens! - (a new flavor - Homemade Vanilla and Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream with Cookie Dough)... mmmmmmm... it's so nummy... a real diet buster, damn it's good. mmmm... must go.... need more ice cream now......
Flying Kites... SUCKS!

Today was another good day. I had this strange urge to take the little people out and fly kites with them. I had purchased 2 cheap $.99 kites at WalMart a few weeks ago and was just waiting for the weather to get nice enough (and the wind to die down a bit) to fly kites. Now let me just say that previously I had only flown a kite one time... one other time I TRIED to fly a kite for Super Girl, but it did not work out well and was just a bad bad horrible event to scare my childs psychie with - ok, slight exageration, it was to scare ME for rest of eternity. Anyway, hubby and I quickly assemble the kites and head out to the field near the town houses. Hubby just lifts the Elmo kite above his head and lets go - it's flying, soars up high and is going great. I attempt to do the same with the Barbie kite. The kite goes up for a moment, then comes back down... I try again... it makes a feeble fluttering sound before dropping to the ground. I toss the damn thing and jog a bit, it flies. It's up, flying - sort of - Then it flies over past the Elmo kite, takes a dip and flips around the kite string! Damn! I start pulling the kite string to bring it down, it starts flipping around Elmo's string - over and over... As it's coming down. Elmo keeps flying. I get Barbie within reach and start untangling.... I end up having to snap the line because it's to damn tangled.. but Elmo keeps flying! Grrr... I retie Barbie's string, move further away from hubby and get Barbie back up in the air. As soon as Barbie is flying, hand the string off to Super Girl and reach for my camera to take a picture, at that very moment the string breaks. Barbie flies a little bit, then plunges to the ground. I take off running to get the kite, everytime I get close the wind blows it further away. After a short while I think to myself "what the heck am I doing? Why am I chasing after a stupid $.99 kite! I'm not getting run over for that!" the kite fluttered off into the street then further off to where I couldn't see it. Super Girl was not happy that I didn't get the stupid kite - but life goes on. Elmo still flew. I sat down on the ground with Cabbage Patch and put flowers in her hair and took pictures, Super Girl held the string for Elmo. When it was time to go and pull Elmo in, I started to help, as soon as I pulled the string on Elmo, he PLUMMETED to the ground! Heck - I'm cursed - Kite Cursed. I'm not sure if this is a bad thing, and I'm not sure who would think to put such a curse on me... I might have to make a voodoo paper doll of them (such a lame curse doesn't deserve the time and effort of a real voodoo doll...) Here is a picture of Elmo flying, then a picture of my first kite disaster

And here are some of the flower pictures I took:

The wind was blowing pretty hard so it was hard to get really good focus on the flowers at times... that and 2 kids climbing on me. hehehehe...

Powell Quote (not sure how authentic this is. A friend of mine who is a real stickler for authenticating these types of statements sent this to me)

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.

He answered by saying that, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return."

It became very quiet in the room.

What a good day!!

I started my day off with a mad dash down to my orthodontist to get my braces tightened. I had made a calculated error when I made my appointment at my last torture session... I mean tightening... I had set my appointment for 8:30 am, meaning I would have to drive in rush hour traffic, something I dread just on a normal basis but having a car with a radiator issue it is sheer terror. As I approached the freeway my worst fears were confirmed, there was some kind of freaking accident on the highway backing it up way past my point of entry, so I'd need to take the alternate road. OK, fine, I head over, as I am driving I notice that my car has gotten hotter than it usually does... hubby drove the car to downtown Dallas yesterday for an interview and he said it over heated on the way back... apparently it decided to keep this disposition. So I drive there, sweating out the red lights (literally) watching my temperature gage go past the L in NORMAL and head for the red patch indicating HOT (which really means OVER HEATED Stop The Damn Car!). I got lucky most of the way there hitting mostly green lights, keeping the car at a pretty constant 45 mph, which helped to bring the temp down to the A and sometimes the M, but still running much hotter than usual - every time I hit a red light I prayed it would turn green fast. I get to the ortho right on time (surprising me). As I wait one of the front desk people comes back to ask if I'm the one with the Taurus - yes I am - and informs me that it's smoking, I correct her, It's steam and yes I know, thank you, it's just to hot. Sheesh... On to the fun, more wires, tools and hands in my mouth for the next hour. When it's all done, I think I have maybe one more adjustment then I'll be braceless... yes!! OK, so I head home again watching the temperature soar even though I take the now cleared freeway. The constant 70 mph does help to keep it a little bit cooler, but not by much. I get home, and for some bizarre reason I'm in a really good mood - must be me feeling better. I inform hubby that we are going for a walk - gotta take some things to the post office anyway. It's windy, windy, windy here today. I had to stop every few moments to rearrange my hair out of my face - I really should have put a clip in it, I kept having it wrap around my head and all.. ick. So we go to the post office, I learn that mail to Canada is NOT considered DOMESTIC mail, so I can not use a priority mail envelope. *sigh* A Global Priority Mail envelope would have wracked up a postage cost of $7!! YIKES! No way! So the postal guy feels sorry for me, get's me a padded envelope to put my mail in and air mail comes to a whopping $1.35 - hey that's actually a better deal than priority mail ($3.85). We leave there and take the kids to CiCi's for a 'scrumptious' lunch. Nothing like cheap pizza - and all you can eat at that. We stop off at the grocery store on the way home for a few things then walk home, this time the wind is hitting us right in the face, the little people were hilarious. They both were in the stroller and by the time we got within 2 blocks of home they both were lying back in the stroller with their eyes closed. hehehehe... I told hubby he could push the stroller at that point, it was getting quite a work out from pushing two kids against the wind (hmmmm... that reminds me of a song....). Back home, it was nap time... for EVERYONE! YAY. I head off to nap land but wake shortly - heartburn, uggh... thanks CiCi's for that wonder re-run on the pizza. When the little people wake I ask Super Girl what she wants to do 1) paint 2) make cookies 3) plant seeds. Before I can get all three choices out she is saying paint, but when I say plant seeds, she can hardly contain herself. We plant the vegitable seeds in the kitchen in tiny containers I am going to put them in a container outside when they sprout. She was thrilled to help. Then we sat at the table and painted with her water colors. I started getting silly with her as we painted after I saw some paint smears on some of the papers. Her little hands were covered in various paints and when she touched the paper she left two multi-colored hand prints. So I took her hands and painted them then pressed them to paper. It was so pretty! I did it 4 or 5 more times with different patterns - Super Girl was so tickle by it. I'm going to use the hand prints to make Easter Cards, they are so darn pretty. I'll post pictures later. By the time we finished painting it was after 6 pm! I was hungry so I begged hubby to make dinner, he made steak - YUM - my last solid meal for a bit since my teeth will be sore for a week. *sigh* that steak was gooooooood... mmmmm.. After dinner I had to dunk the little people in the bath tub for a quick scrub - I looked at Super Girl and saw that she had many, many multi colored patches on her legs and hands and spots of color on her cute little face. hehehehe... so cute. Then we finished the evening by watching Power Puff girls. *sigh* now it's over. What a great day. :o)

I've Beaten Anthrax!!!

Whew! I am finally past the crappy part of this. My throat doesn't hurt anymore, the spots are gone... I'm still on antibiotics. The antibiotics leave me a little lightheaded at times (like now!!!) so I've made the (un)educated decision to not take my crazy pills. My reasoning is that since they cause me to be sleepy at times and they are drugs that affect my mental stability (hehe) I figured the antibiotics might affect them strangely. Not sure that's a good idea or not, but that's what I have been doing. I was mostly afraid I would fall asleep while driving. Ok, enough about my medications.... Let me catch you up on what has been happening here... I'll just write it all out since Friday or so, maybe Thursday or Wednesday... and whatever I can't remember, I'll just make it up. So here goes.

Friday

So on Friday I was feeling like I had been run over by a semi - I had an appointment for someone to come over at 10 am that day and an appointment to have family portraits made at 4 pm. Yeah, great planning on my part. I wanted to cancel the 10 am person, because frankly I didn't want them over at all, but I had no freaking choice (sucks to have a court ordered duty). This person comes at 10 am, I let her in (still wearing my night gown!!!) and tell her that I have strep. She doesn't seem to care and continues on with her 'duties' of asking me a hundred pointless questions and scheduling appointments for this week for follow up visits. Yeah, whatever, just leave.

My sister comes over with a car full of my kids stuff - toys mostly - toys are things my kids have no shortage of . He hung out for a while, which was cool because I had not seen her in a couple of weeks, then she left. I slept for a while. I was really tired because the night before I had trouble getting any sleep. I also started taking my antibiotics that day. Hubby went and got some DVDs to distract the kids that night and we had... something... I don't know.. maybe pizza or steak or something for dinner... that's kind of a blur... I layed on the sofa most of the evening slipping in and out of sleep running a fever.

Saturday
I worked, came home, slept. Something else happened that day, but hell if I can remember.

Sunday
I worked, came home, felt much better and then fell asleep. hehehehe... I think the antibiotics were making me giddy. Since I was feeling better that day I decided we needed to sort through the kids toys and get rid of stuff. So I grabbed a bag and started digging through tossing out the broken stuff. I also went through and got rid of some stuff that wasn't broken, but that they didn't care about, some of the stuffed animals that my sister had brought over (hell they hadn't seen them in months and hadn't mentioned them) and some things that I didn't particularly want to look at again that were here (a stupid praying teddy bear that recited a prayer... annoying). So I had hubby put the toys that were not sell-able (I'm going to list a bunch of things on e-bay soon - stuffed animals just don't sell though) out by the dumpster - (people who live in apartments know that is the universal place to deposit things that you no longer want/need or can fit in your apartment, but that are still useful as garage sales are just not possible in apartments - retrieving items from said locations is called Dumpster Diving... it can be very lucrative. We were just making a deposit into this system). Actually.. I think we did the toy thing on Saturday night, not Sunday... see... the drugs are affecting my memory... damn..

OK so Sunday night, we put the baby to bed - she goes about half an hour past her bedtime. The older one did not want to go to bed. She had a bad dream the night before and ended up crawling in bed with me at 5:30 am (much to my displeasure - I can't sleep with her in bed). So she did NOT want to sleep in her bed. Hubby takes her up to bed about an hour past her bed time. She comes down 10 minutes later, he takes her back up. They come down a few minutes later, she says she needs a certain toy to go to sleep. I say "Fine, get it and get back to bed." So she starts searching. I say "What are you looking for?" She mentions something, i have no clue what she is talking about. About 5 more minutes of searching, I ask her again what she's looking for and this time I ask her to describe it. And she does... hubby and I look at each other... I'm trying hard not to burst out laughing... She's describing one of the toys we got rid of! hehehehehe.... I finally told her we got rid of it, she didnt' need it. *sigh* she ended up sleeping in my bed last night (she's the only one who got sleep....), so I guess I got my punishment for tossing her toy. Kids...

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday (said in radio announcer voice...)

Work was really really great - sales sucked ass, but work was great. ALL the baby pictures were fabulous. *sigh* gives me such a feeling of acomplishment to take great pictures.

Anthrax Still Hanging On...

*WARNING* WHINE ALERT *WARNING*

I'm still sick. I'm sick of being sick... I feel sicker than I was. I have antibiotics now, but I'm not certain they are coursing through my bloodstream as we speak because I threw up shortly after I took the first one. I don't recall seeing it in there, but to be honest, I did not look that closely. I feel like I'm in a vicious cycle - my throat hurts so I don't eat much (not that I have much of an appetite), I run a fever so I take medication for that which causes my stomach to produce excess acid because I haven't eaten much... Sheesh.. and my throat hurts more after the puking incident. AND... I can't sleep much... I try but I wake from whacked out fever dreams then I'm uncomfortable because I've got a fever and I can't sleep. I was awake at 3 am this morning. I cleaned my kitchen since I was up. Read a few cook books, thinking the monotony would put me to sleep. I move from my bed to the sofa most of the night, just looking for a more comfortable place to rest. Uggh... I'm so melodramatic. Whaaaaaaa... I want to feel better... Somebody shoot me! (d you were here earlier and you did not do that!!!)

We were supposed to have pictures done today, family pictures, but for obvious reasons that did not happen.

And it occured to me last night in one of my wakeful moments... maybe this is all psychosamatic... Maybe I'm just being a hypocondriac and willing myself to manifest physical symptoms. I'm going to spend the rest of the evening willing myself to recover so I can go to work tomorrow... well I have to go to work tomorrow whether I'm recovered or not. *sigh* Whaaaaaaaaaa!!! I want my mommy!!!

ps - D - thanks for coming over today and risking exposure to my plague. I appreciate you bringing the fish tank and little people's stuff and enjoyed your company. Thanks for getting lunch for us - even though it took me 3 hours to consume mine.;o) your the best.

Appealing To The Masses or Just Incredibly Stupid?

I bought a different magazine this week, I generally don't buy this magazine, I just saw that there is an article about an actress I like in the magazine, so I threw caution to the wind and tossed the magazine on my grocery pile. I've had the magazine sitting here by the computer for almost a week, and just now remembered it. In flipping through I saw several perfume ads. Not a freaking one of them made ANY sense. And it made me think of the perfume commercials on television, none of thoes make sense either. I honestly would like to know exactly how many of the perfume ad execs are smoking the crack pipe as they think up these ads. Why should two not very attractive models dressed in black standing in the middle of a dessert with the sounds of a word being softly spoken repeatedly in the back ground make me want to buy this particular fragrance? Is it really about the fragrance anyway? A lot of the fashion magazines don't have many perfume samples in them anymore, so what is the selling point in these ads? I'll tell you (if you haven't already figured it out) - it's the brand name. I think what ever designer is the 'flavor of the minute' in fashion at this particular time can bottle just about any scent they want and it will sell as long as their BRAND name is on it. Polo for men always smelled like grass clippings to me, but it was hugely popular for a while. Poison was one of thoes perfumes that had to be put on lightly or it gave the impression of chemical warfare, yet lots and lots of woman wore it that way. Eternity was one of the fragrances I would wish to not have to be trapped near for eternity. Crazy. I don't choose perfume by the lable, I choose by the fragrance that I like. I tend to lean towards floral scents, heavily rose sented. My favorite being Paris (have worn it for YEARS) and Hombre Rose, but I'll wear just about any rose scented piss in a jar, regarless of the price or brand - if I like it. Anyway - perfume ads make no sense - in print or on televison.
Things That Sound Dirty... But Aren't

The little people are watching Oswald The Octopus and today is Big Banana day. Yeah, really. Oswald has a dog named Weine and the two of them walk through the town telling everyone it's "Big Banana Day", some of the characters say things like "Oswald, thats an awfully big banana." So Oswald spends the whole day walking through the town sharing the big banana with everyone. Oh yeah, it was like the script of a bad porn movie minus the cheesy music. Actually I think it would be incredibly funny to use the sound track from the cartoon and just turn it into a porn movie. *snort* Yeah I know, I'm sick... but I just woke up... and hearing them talk about the 'Big Banana' struck me as funny and somehow inappropriate. ;o)

Library Day

So today after the demons, I mean the little people woke from their naps, we headed off to the library. I had visions of my two little girls with books, sitting on the carpet with me reading to them. Happy smiles for everyone. That's not even close to what happened. We got to the library and headed off to the childrens section (which I must say the local library has a very nice and well stocked children's section), as soon as we get through the doorway of the children's section all hell broke loose, the kids pull away from my hands and head down between the shelves of books - squealing like a couple of little pigs as they chased each other. I keep saying 'shhhhhh!' 'Stop running!' 'come back here!' as I glaring at them and trying to catch them to make them stop, this only adds to the mayhem as they think I am now part of the game and they head separate directions through the books - screaming and laughing the whole time. When I finally caught up with them, there were several threats to each child and Cabbage Patch finally had to be held to keep her from running through the books like a maniac. I think we ended up spending 30 minutes total at the library (which was about 29 minutes to long) - both hubby and I got a couple of books and I found some Curious George books for the girls to check out, I just grabbed them off the shelf, I knew we needed to get the hell out of there before we got thrown out! So much for a nice relaxing time at the library. Can't wait to do it again....
A - Yes I know, I need antibiotics... I seem to be extremely susceptible to Anthrax (strep)... maybe one of my neighbors is a terrorist... hmmmm... that does make things (in my mind) much more interesting...

Siblings will always fight no matter how close or far apart they are. Even twins fight. My sister and I are about 2 and a half years apart and we fought a lot. We were very close, but we still fought. My husband's oldest brother is 10 years older than him, they fought growing up, his younger brother is 4 years younger, they fought also. Siblings fight.. that's why it's call sibling rivalry. (infact my kids are fighting right now... *sigh*) I'm sure it would be great for Bear if he knew what the new baby is and he could help pick out toys for the new baby, and clothes, etc. Don't worry, everything will work out. Lilianna is a beautiful name.
Continuing Saga Of Anthrax...

Uggh... I am still battling this damn Anthrax (strep). I just finished cleaning the livingroom - my house was really starting to look like a pig sty. I love my husband but as I've mentioned before, he CAN NOT clean. I still have a lot to do, but it looks a lot better now. The carpet had not been vacuumed since Saturday - ICK! The little people's toys were starting to take over the living room, so I rearranged the toys in the box and shelves, and now they are out of the way. Damn, my kids have way too many toys.

Dreams

When I get sick, I get the most bizarre dreams. I can't remember everything, because I also tend to wake a lot when I'm sick. What I remember is that most of the dreams had an odd theme of gangsters in it. I have NO idea why, I did not watch anything about gangsters last night. Just the usual Forensic Files, New Detectives and Mug Shots... none of which was about gangsters. Weird...

Tuesday, March 25, 2003

Here I am, up from my sick bed for a few moments. Uggh I feel icky. In addition to the Anthrax (strep) I have pulled a muscle in my back - I know exactly when I did it, and it hurts like hell. Last night when hubby got home from his trip he gave me something for it, but it made me ill about an hour later, so I spent the next hour and a half throwing up - I think the medication just caused my stomach to produce an excess amount of bile thus causing me pain and vomiting. Anyway - I spent most of the night waking being misreble and trying to find the right concotion to dull the pain and not cause sickness. I finally did - some pain pills from when he hurt his back. They worked.

A & L - Yikes, thoes are disturbing dreams! Dreams are interesting things (arm chair psychiatrist coming out) - all aspects in the dream are aspects of the dreamer. Plainly - everything in the dream is you. L- I think you need to look into the dreams and find out what is going on. Is there a common theme? Is there a common feeling? What do these dreams remind you of? And most importantly - what is stressing you out so much? Look for ways to de-stress yourself. sometimes just acknowledging what is causing you the stress can help (after all I am the queen of the anxiety dreams). And get some Tylenol PM or something - lack of sleep is probably exagerating the problem.

A - I'm not even going to adress the dream - pregnancy makes dreaming very bizarre. I know you are extremely stressed. And I know that moving everything back to your parents is extremely stressful - and of course having another baby is too. You also need to de-stress and get sleep. Tylenol PM is safe for you - I never would have survived my last pregnancy with out it. Stop worrying about the baby, she will be fine (yes I think it's a girl) even if you never take another prenatal vitamin and eat hamburgers and pizza the rest of the gestatinal period - I did with Super Girl and she's was fine. ;o) Don't stress over Monkey and Bear being jealous of the baby, theres no point in that now - they either will or they won't be and there is nothing you can do to change that now. *sigh* pregnancy makes you so paranoid about things, you over stress so eaisly. Don't worry about things you can't change... everything works out in the end. ;o)

Anthrax Again?!?!?!

Yes I have Anthrax (strep) again. Sheesh.. this sucks. My hubby is out of town - he acompanied his father on the drive to Tennessee. Uggh I feel horrible and I'm exhausted. I keep falling asleep on the sofa so the kids are doing what they want - YIKES!!- actually they haven't been to bad, the living room has coloring papers everywhere, but that's about it.

Can't think straight right now.... going back to the sofa...

BOOK Review!!!

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

I finished the book last night. I stayed up way to late after our bi-weekly game and finished the book. This is a rarity, not that I finish a book, but that I finish a book in about 2 days as my days spent being a full time mom and part time baby photographer leaves me very little time for one of my favorite pastimes - reading a good book. Coraline is a children's book for mature children (probably would mostly appeal to girls more than boys as the main character is a little girl with a penitence for exploring). It's a creepy tale (even creepy enough to creep out a 31 year old who loves S King novels and true crime novels) but not a scare you into a state somewhere between bed wetting and a near death experience book, very intellectual and introspective. I'm a fan of Neil Gaiman, yet I have to admit most of my reading of his works has been limited to his works on Sandman (which is a wonderful work - more literature than comic book and is the only comic book I would read in my 'literary snob' era). Part of me is embarrassed that I have not read more of his works knowing how well I have liked everything I have read that he has penned. My bad. Anyway - back to the subject at hand - Coraline. I was completely enchanted with this book. It was difficult to put down and was a really quick read. Coraline is an odd little girl who moved with her parents to a flat with odd and eccentric neighbors during her break from school. Coraline's parents are busy working parents and she is an only child who wishes her parents would spend more time playing with her. She spends a lot of her time exploring and visiting her eccentric neighbors. One day it rains and Coraline can not go exploring outside, but instead has to explore the flat she lives in... and that's where the adventure begins. Coraline is a smart, brave and even wise little girl. Her adventures are strange and sometimes unsettling not terrifying but definitely disturbing. The story moves along smoothly and seamlessly with plenty of odd twists and surprises to keep the reader guessing. The adventure is a wonderful learning experience for the odd little girl who is adventurous and courageous even if she is small for her age. And I love the ending of this book, it's not typical and that's what makes it great. Read this book, its well worth the read. I plan to read this to my girls when they are a bit older, I think they will enjoy it and hopefully identify with a little girl who wants 'Day-Glow green gloves' and likes to explore.
L - to answer your question of; How about men who never have one single girlfriend, get married, etc.? You know, the ones who spend their lives in pursuit of women, but as soon as they have successfully bedded one, they dump her and move on to the next? When queried about their actions, they say "I've just never met the woman I thought I could settle down with." Or even, in a moment of very rare honesty "I am usually out the door so fast that I never stick around to see if this could have been someone to be a girlfriend or wife. I don't want to do this but I always end up doign it anyway." What I find most upsetting about this is that the running away tends to take place after a very heated and dedicated pursuit.

OK, this is my take on it - I'm drawing on many conversations I've had with men who do this and from my own personal experience. The kind of men who chase an object of their desire with gusto and purpose only to abondon and quickly forget said object after successfully bedding them fall into two catagories - ones who like the challenge and excitement of the pursuit but when they catch their prey the game is pretty much over, so they split. There are a LOT of men who do this. Then there are thoes who are just looking to wrack up their numbers of 'conquests' and prefer to have to work for it in order to 'prove' their sexual prowes (mostly to themselves). And the men who say things like "I've just never met the woman I thought I could settle down with." are obviously afraid of commitment. These are also the men who say that they are looking for a woman and they have a carefully thought out list of (unrealistic) expectations that this womant MUST meet in order for them to 'fall in love'. Sheesh... some people...

Mens Thinking

I was having a conversation the other day, the subject was why men and women cheat. This is my theory. Men and women cheat for very differnt reasons... well let me revise that statement - MOST men and woman cheat for very different reasons - some will cheat for the same reasons - and not all men and women will cheat on their partners... ok... that said, I will now make broad sweeping statements about men and women in general and more precisely about men who cheat and woman who cheat, but still the comments and statements are broad generalizations, because as most everyone knows, the rules do not apply 100% of the time to 100% of the people, there will always be exceptions. OK, that's the end of my disclaimer. Men cheat for very simple reasons - and I say this with a certain amount of knowledge on this matter as I have had more than my fair share of relationships with cheating men - men cheat for sex. Plain and simply sex. They either want it because they aren't getting it/aren't getting enough, or as one of my cheating men friends put it so bluntly "it's not the pussy they are getting, it's to see what other pussy they can get." So some men are doing it because they are or precieve themselves as being sexually deprived and some just because they are in a constant state of heat - much like a dog who humps anything that stands still long enough. End of story. Why do women cheat? Women cheat for simple reasons also - they want to be loved. They cheat because the feel that they are not getting the love/emotional response from their partner that they want/deserve. Women are more likely to enter into a love affair and men into a sexual affair. There are of course exceptions, the woman who just want the hot steamy sex with the muscle bound pool boy because sex with hubby is boreing or the man who feels unloved and unappreciated who finds someone who will make him feel loved and wanted. AND of course this is the one that applies to both sexes - there are the revenge cheaters. These are the people who are pissed at their partner for something - mostly because said partner has cheated on them and they found out - and they are cheating to get back at them. This is by far the stupidest reason to cheat. One is less likely to look carefully for a cheating partner or be carefully in general - ultimately makeing and ugly situation down right scary. AND - the last and most pathetic reason - this also applies to both men and women - is because they want to feel young - they precieve themselves as getting old and not being sexy anymore so they have an affair to feel young and sexy again. Sad and pittiful.

Anyway - that's the end of my little 'study' on this subject. Thank you very much for your attendance at this lecture. Be sure to show up next time, you never know what the subject will be, but be certain it will not be boreing. ;o)

Off to bed - must work tomorrow.

I Am A Book Whore!

Today we went to the Hastings that is closing soon. They have 30-50% off everything in the store. I got the cookbook I mentioned earlier, hubby got a book - a module for 3rd Ed AD&D, Super Girl got a yo-yo book and a yo-yo and I got Coraline by Neil Gaimen... and Cabbage Patch swiped a Garfield book - luckily hubby noticed that she had taken a 5 finger discount before we got to far from the store and he returned it. Sheesh... my baby has criminal tendencies and she's not even 2!! (yeah I know this is normal for all little kids to do, my oldest has swiped many things in her toddlerhood - she even swiped something right infront of a friend who is a Priest... remember that D?) Anyway, when the kids went down for naps I took my new books and layed down on my bed to read. It struck me as funny, because I had books on my bed from this morning when Super Girl came into my bedroom to wake me (way to early this morning) and I had her get some books to read quietly so mommy could sleep a little longer... it didn't work... she didn't read quietly... hehehehe... So I started reading Coraline. It's a young adult book, I got it because I love the writer and I wanted to read it to my girls when they are a bit older (and will sit for a book that does not have pictures on every page). I'm truly enjoying this book, it's wonderful. I realized today that I really love children's books. I have collected children's books for many many years, mostly just story books and fairy tales and of course the classic tales by Anderson and Brothers Grimm. But I do love the kind of older children's books, not really 'story' books persay and not young adult books either. Some of my absolute favorite books were older children's books Edward, Hoppy & Joe, Podkane of Mars, Ribbsey are just some of the favorites I read when I was young. Hmmm.... what are some of your favorites from your youth?

Hmmm... Back to my book!
L - hehehehe... I just bought a cook book. I'm a cook book fanatic. If I still had Food Network, I would spend a lot of time watching. I love cooking shows, even ones with atrocious foods that I would NEVER eat. I bought a Jewish cook book, I've needed one for a while. I always end up looking up recipes on the internet when Passover comes around - then some of the things I hate, and some I like, and the next year I can't remember or can't find the ones I like. *sigh* Anyway - I bought one. I want to find this one that is recipes from concentration camp survivors - it's nostolgic, it has memoirs in with it. I can't remember what it's called, but I really want to find it. Oh and I was all excited, because one of the books I found was the Julia Child French Cooking cook book that I have and absolutly LOVE!! - It's the 40th anniversary edition - I was tempted but resisted buying - because I already have it (my copy was my mom's - a woman who had several cookbooks but was an awful cook - I have no idea why she even had this french cook book, I doubt she EVER made anything from it).
And parsnips are fairly high in carbs - higher than carrots - at 10 g per 1/4 C.

Blue Bell Facts

A - this is for you!!!
Q. Why do you have Gold, Silver and Brown rims on your half gallon ice cream cartons?

A. The different colored rims designate the cost of ingredients in different flavors. If a flavor cost more to make, we pass that cost along to the consumer. If a flavor costs less to make, the consumer is charged less. Blue Bell basic flavors like Country Vanilla and Strawberry cost the least and are in silver rim cartons.
Our famous Homemade Vanilla and flavors with fresh fruits and cookies cost more and are in the gold rim.

Flavors with the most expensive ingredients, such as pecans and pralines, are in brown rim cartons.

But no matter which rim color you select, you can count on all Blue Bell flavors to be the same consistent high quality ice cream--the best in the country.

And L this is for you!

Q. Can I have your Blue Bell shipped to me or my friends?

A. You bet! See "How to order" here on our web site!

I do love Blue Bell ice cream, I try hard to stay away from it as I do tend to be a complete glutton - expecially when it comes to Buttered Pecan, Pecan Pralines 'n Cream or Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I do like the Chocolate Moo-llennium Crunch, but that's just because of the funny little chocolate cows in the ice cream. I also love love love Ben & Jerry's , I love most of the freaky flavors. Must try this next Peace Pops! God only knows why they are called that, but they look nummy. Their web site is kind of cool, New York Super Fudge Chunk is my favorite flavor of theirs. they do have a lot of hippie political stuff on their web site also. Odd... I prefer my ice cream without the politics... but it's still good ice cream.
I Can Do Anything He Can Do... Better

The little people are down for naps (yay!!). The oldest went down at 1 pm (the youngest goes down at noon). I just finished cleaning and vacuuming my living room, vacuuming the stairs, vacuuming my bedroom, folding and putting away 2 loads of laundry, starting more laundry, wiping down the counters in the kitchen and sweeping the kitchen floor. I've also been sorting through the kids clothes to get rid of the clothes they can't wear anymore. I did all that in one hour and 22 minutes. The same thing would take hubby all day long. And it would be done sloppily. He always takes short cuts then later can't find the things he 'put away'. It makes me crazy. I know it's eaiser and usually faster to just do it right the first time. I've gotten extremely anal about house keeping in the past 9 months or so. I don't have my house dusted every day or anything like that, but I do vacuum every day and my laundry is generally done and put away a few times a week and I get pissed if the dishes are not done every day. I try to make sure that the house stays pretty clean, at least clean enough for unexpected guests - doesn't always stay that way every hour of the day - 2 kids make lots of messes. Hubby on the other hand... well let's just say messes don't really bother him. *sigh*
3XThursday 3/19/2k3 : All is fair in love and war - Judy's answers Thanks to Jake for the great questions this week.

The Iraq war started. Well life goes on.

1. So do you believe that war is an intrinsic part of human nature or do you think that world peace is a realistic goal?
Yes I do believe that war is just part of human nature.

2. Who was the greatest military leader of all time?
Attilla the Hun... no, Ghengis Khan... hmmm... not really sure, except that it probably was not someone from modern history.

3. Do you believe that the ends justify the means in the ways of love?
Sometimes.... hmmm... tough question, I've been on the receiving end of some crappy things that have happend - but all things turned out fine in the end, so maybe yes.

Bonus Question for Comments: Would you rather get married and then meet your soul mate, or never meet your soul mate?
hehehehe... talking about my life again. I'd want to meet my soul mate (Hopeing that will happen sometime in the not to distant future too!!)

Gilligan's Island Cast

French Stewart (guy from 3rd Rock).........Gilligan
John Goodman......................................The Skipper
Steve Martin........................................Mr. Howell
Dame Judi Dench..................................Mrs. Howell
Catherine Zeta-Jones............................Ginger
Kate Hudson........................................Maryanne
Christopher Walken...............................The Professor

I know, everyone was waiting for that from me. hehehehe...
MEN ARE PIGS!!!

Anyway - Sheesh - some men are total pigs. So I'm talking to this guy online, he sees my picture and in the conversation he says something about how he and I would make beautiful children, I just laugh. Then he says how 'Perfect 10' women make ugly babies, he'd rather have an average looking woman. I tell him that's not very complimentary, I consider myself to be above average looking. Then he says "well you have a double chin, so that detracts, but with your long long hair your a 10 to me." then he adds "And with your 129 IQ your an 11." So I'm thinking "FUCK YOU." Shit, never tell a woman you don't think she's beautiful - hell even just saying that she's pretty is enough, but fuck, don't tell me your shallow numerical rating for me. And I guess the thing that was pissing me off was that he's assumeing that I have an interest in him!!! NOOOOOOO!!! Sheesh, like I'd go out with someone who is so critical. He made some comments about things I'd have to change to be with him. Which I didn't even KNOW what to say to him, because I kept thinking "Ummmm... I don't think so! The more you talk the less I like you." Shit, that guy pissed me off. I sure as hell don't want someone who's going to say how they will only be with me if I loose some weight - I want someone who wants ME for me - who I am now - not who I might be if I weighed 20 lbs less. damn... What a jerk. Fuck him - I'm sexy no matter what the scale says.
Breakfast!

I make breakfast for my kids most days, and not just a bowl of cereal with some milk splashed on it. I make them things like waffles, scrambled eggs, pancakes, cinnamon toast (not all at the same time, ya know). I do this because my girls are notorious for NOT eating their dinners. I refuse to get into arguements over food or theaten them to eat, but I don't make them anything special, so it's their choice to either eat dinner or go to bed without it. Anyway, this morning Super Girl was saying that she was hungry. I go to make them breakfast, and remember this thing I saw in a magazine about making meals cute and fun for kids. I make toast and cut circles out of them, I cook eggs in toast holes, put peanut butter on the cut out circles, make a jelly nose, raisin eyes and mouth and bananna slice ears. Then put cheese on the eggs and add bacon to the plate. The girls ate the peanut butter circle and nothing else. Grrrr.... I was so irritated, they usually eat eggs and stuff.

Planting Of My Garden

Spring is here. I planted my garden... well not really a garden, just a pot with flowers in it. I'm going to plant another pot with herbs. *sigh* I'm kind of sad I can't plant a real garden this year. That has got to be one of my favorite things that I miss about my house. I loved planting my garden, then having it bloom. *sigh* I miss my gladiolas I planted the first spring and have come up every year (pink, purple and white). I miss the purple plant that I put around the tree in hopes that it would fill the flower box there, but it never did. I miss all the herbs I planted last year that I wrote the plant markers in water soluable pen so they washed off 20 minutes after I planted (it rained) and I had no freaking clue what was what. I miss obsessing over planting tulips and planning to plant the bulbs but never making it to buy bulbs in time. I miss spending the winter discussing and planning garden activitys for the spring. I miss walking trough the home and garden section to search out seeds, fertilizer, tool, etc. I even miss trying to trim my bushes and not killl them. I miss how every year by the middle of summer one of the bushes on the side of the house would die. I miss the garden spiders debates with hubby (I always wanted them to leave, he always told me to leave them alone... I never killed any, but I harassed many of them into leaveing). Anyway... Here's my little pot of flowers.

A - a jar of pickles... *snicker* that's pretty damn funny. Awww, come on, life isn't so bad. I know your husband is out of work, but at least you don't have to spend every fucking hour of every fucking day with him. *sigh* I know it's only been a week and a half since mine got laid off, but fuck!! I want him out of here at least part of the day! He's making me crazy. He's not being an ass or anything, and he is looking for a job, but him being home is just messing up my schedule (I'm so neurotic about my schedule). I know part of it is that the car has been in the shop for a week and that is just making it more stressful. SEE!! Your life doesn't totally suck! ;o)

Long Day, Icky Lunch, Surounded by Morons - Not Bad For $150!

Today I did this focus group thing - it was a mock trial - can't talk about it, confidentiality and all that crap (besides the fact that after being saturated with information on it from 8 am - 6 pm - I don't freaking want to talk about it anymore!!). It took place a little North of where I live - about 30 or so miles from me - straight shot up the freeway - in a rural area. So most of the people there were slack jawed country people (I know, bitchy of me) - hardly anyone knew what business attire is - most people showed up in jeans - one woman in a jogging suit - I show up in business wear (eh, at least I know I didn't look like a slob - unlike some people). So lunch - ick. they had sandwiches, ham, turkey and roast beef. Normally I love a good sandwich, but these sucked. They had all the stuff on them - including onions - which I hate. I took the roast beef - took off the onion and put on lots of mustard... the roast beef tasted like wet paper. Totally tasteless. I did not eat much of it. Just enough to get past the hunger. And they had potato salad with it - I do not like potato salad, and even if I did, I would not eat it on my low carb eating plan. So I did eat the marginal desert - which I know I shouldn't but I was still hungry after the two pieces of cheese off the sandwich and 3 pickle slices. After lunch, some of the people at my table were talking... sheesh... these people were the bottom of the gene pool. But all in all, it was worth it for $150.
Tisk, Tisk, Tisk...

What am I going to do with all of you? I left you with a task to do while I was away today and no one completed it... I'm going to have to take points off for that. Well I'm not going to give you the answers yet... give you all a chance to get your homework turned in. ;o)
Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday

I have to head off to work here soon, but I had to take a moment to write. Hubby and I were talking last night, and the subject came up of who we would cast in a NEW Gilligan's Island. hehehehe... I know silly, but I did love that show.

SO... here's the question...

Who would you cast in a NEW Gilligan's Island? Don't forget anyone, Gilligan, The Skipper, Ginger, Maryann, The Howells and the Professor.

Have a good day!!

Lessons On Safety

Last night hubby and I were teaching Super Girl how and when to use the telephone to get help. She's four years old, so she really should know how to do this. I had her get two of her toy phones and we practiced what she should say and what buttons to push. We moved on to working with hypothetical situations. I said "OK, if mommy is at work and daddy bumps his head and won't wake up, you can call and ask for help. First you need to see if you can wake up daddy, so go wake up daddy." Hubby was in the recliner pretending to be unconscious, Super Girl walked over to him and said 'daddy wake up.' I said, ‘You need to shake daddy or something to see if he'll wake up.’ She smiles then smacks her daddy.... Right in the nuts! Hubby's eyes popped open and he covered his dangly bits ‘I'm awake!’ Luckily she hadn't hit him hard, just enough to surprise the hell out of him. I was laughing, trying not to laugh - trying to teach my child a lesson in safety, hubby was laughing. And I'm saying "not like that honey - like this." (still laughing) I go to shake hubby's shoulder then he starts laughing and covers himself again. More laughing. She goes to bed shortly there after. We laugh more, he says "Yeah I can see the paramedics getting here, 'what's wrong sir?', 'ohhh my daughter hit me in the nuts - she was trying to see if I was dead.' hehehehehe.... I think I'll have to check my first aid guidebook to see if there's a section on how NOT to wake a sleeping man.
Wal-Mart Greeters Need Lives...

Today was Torture The Kids Day! Woohooo! So we go shopping! Can't think of a better way to torture the kids than to take them shopping. We go to Wal-Mart - the Super, Mega, Huge, Uber Wal-Mart Grocery Everything Store to get groceries and sandals for the girls. It was brutal. Super Girl was in full whine mode. She poured chocolate milk down her dress, whined the WHOLE way to the store - an absolute 10 on the Torture The Kids scale. As we are standing in line she says she has to go potty, so I take her, she decides she does not want to wear her sandals since chocolate milk spilled on them and that she suddenly does NOT have to go potty. I try to get her to go for a few minutes, then I start trying to get her to put her shoes back on - no luck. She washes her hands and out we go. Hubby is walking up right as we leave the restroom. I am very frustrated with Super Girl and am still muttering to her about putting her shoes on. He takes note of the look on my face and says "Let me guess, she didn't go did she?" I said "no, and she won't put her shoes on now”. We are starting to walk out of the store and I hear someone say "ma'am, ma'am" I turn, it's an elderly woman who works at Wal-Mart, walking up to me, she says "ma'am, she can not walk around the store with out shoes." Motioning to Super girl's bare feet. I give her a go to hell look and hold the sandals out to the woman and say, "OK, fine, why don't you convince her to put them on." She looks at me indignantly and says, "Well she's not my child." I roll my eyes at her, say "Come on Super Girl, let's go." take Super Girl's hand and walk away, her still bare footed. Sheesh! Talk about someone needing to find something to do! We were walking out of the bathroom, meeting hubby who was pushing a cart full of stuff that had just been purchased - it was quite obvious that we WERE LEAVING the store and that I was having a discussion with my husband about our bratty little child - that was the last thing I wanted or needed at that moment. Besides, I don't recall a "No Shoes, No Service" sign on the Wal-Mart door.
L - good article on marriage. I don't think the statement of the article was that 'marriage sucks' (although many people's marriages do suck), I think it was 'Don't expect marriage to be a magical thing that will make 'happy'. And that is sound advice. I know of many many people who got married because they thought it would solve all their problems and they would wake up happy, happy, happy every day... and it didn't happen. The "And they lived happily ever after..." only happens in fairy tales and Disney movies. Happy marriages happen when people are happy with themselves, life and are with someone they want to be with and like to be with. And even happy marriages are not happy all the time. Marriage is a lot of work; it's so much easier to be single. I'm not knocking marriage, I like being married - even though my marriage is not the typical marriage and it's far from perfect... and ultimately we will divorce - I still like being married.
L - I saw that about the Dixie Chicks, and I too thought it was rediculous - but not for the same reasons. I do love that being in this wonderful country we do have freedom of speech so we can criticize our president and other elected officials freely. What I find irritating is stars making politicial statements - (either pro or con what I believe - doesn't matter). Why? because most of the time they come off as incredible morons when they start spouting off on political issues - many times they appear dangerously misinformed - and they make statements that are just stupid, but many of their fans will make make political decisions based on what these people are supporting or saying, and not on the real issues that they have researched themselves. Me, I do like the Dixie chicks - love their music, but I think the lead singer was just an idiot for making that statement. Entertainers should stick to what they get paid for, entertaining, not politics. As far as people boycoting their music, well that's the great thing about this country, not only do we have freedom of speech but we also have the freedom to not listen to people we disagree with. Kind of like changing the name of 'french fries' to 'freedom fries'... hehehehe...

My (almost) Brush With Fame

I drive the shitty little rental car to work today - ick. Still sounds like a pack of angry rodents under the hood. I get to my second hospital - and it's fucking busy. One of the weekday people came in to help me because she knew it would be very very busy (as I missed work on Friday) - and it lived up to expectations. I go into to one room to take pictures, the mom is from Quebec and has a friend there with her who is speaking French to her. I take the picture of the baby and it turns out good, she's happy. As I'm closing the sale, mom and her friend are talking about the baby's daddy and how sad it was that he had to go out of town today - but at least he gets to play tonight. So I'm just listening, but not really paying a lot of attention. Then the mom starts saying something about something being on an injured list, which peeks my curiosity so I start paying attention as I process the sale. They talk some more about the dad and playing in a game tonight, and how lucky it is the baby came a week early or daddy would have been out of town all week. OK, so I finally ask the mom what her husband does that has him out of town. She says "He's a hockey player." I'm thinking 'OMG - he's one of the Dallas Stars..." So I ask who he plays for (I guess my smart genes shut off the moment she said 'hockey player') and she says The Dallas Stars. I'm such a dork, all I can say is "I love hockey... that's cool... " I think I mumbled that I loved hockey a couple of more times. So I finished the sale and left, the mom was so very nice and appreciative of my taking such good pictures of her new baby, then I imediatly went to the phone and called my hubby - I could not even remember the player's name!! LOL - I was still just so shocked that I had taken his babies picture! I love hockey, but I never get a chance to watch it these days - the little people tend to be intolerant of any programing that is not animated and put out by either Disney or NickJr. Anyway as soon as I got hom I had to call my brother in law and tell him because he's an even bigger Stars fan than I am. hehehehe... I know, I'm a dork.
hehehehe... I feel for another stupid quiz! I couldn't help it, I love this kind of art work - Vargas is my favorite artist of this particular era.

Bizarre... but funny....

What Video Game Character Are You? I am Pacman.I am Pacman.

I am an aggressive sort of personality, out to get what I can, when I can. I prefer to avoid confrontation, but sometimes when it's called for, I can be a powerful character. I tend to be afflicted with munchies constantly. What Video Game Character Are You?

Somehow I knew I'd be Pacman.... ;o)
Busy Friday...

Well... not exactly, but it sounds better than 'Lazyass Friday For Me'.

Not a whole hell of a lot happened today... yesterday... well stuff happened and I was to freaking busy to write about it.

Alarming!!!

Free alarm systems are offered in the lovely townhomes that I currently reside, all you have to do is pay the city permit fee and the management will turn the alarm on for you. We opted not to do it, as we were fucking poor (were? what do you mean were? still ARE) and could not spare the permit fee. Anyway.... we have the alarm key pad next the door anyway, and last week I set it so that it would *beep, beep* when the door is open (because I have kids and need to know when the little sneaks are trying to escape). Yesterday my oldest, Super Girl was being a brat, as she often is (far to damn often) and she went to the key pad and started pushing the buttons. I told her to stop it, then went to make sure she didn't turn off the door chime. I notice the 'Armed' light was lit - which it wasn't before, I thought "That's odd, I never paid for the alarm to be activated." and I opened the door. Guess what? the alarm WAS ACTIVE!! And I didn't know the code to turn it off!! So it's blaring and I'm pushing keys to try to turn it off, Super Girl has started crying because it's so loud and I'm wondering if this is going to alert the police (wouldn't that be just my luck). I finally call the manager's office and get the answering service. They tell me they will get someone to turn it off. In the mean time I find some packing tape and put it over the alarm to kind of dull the sound a bit. It shuts off, but I notice that the red 'Active' light is still lit. DAMN. Hubby had gone to the post office to mail something for me and would be home soon. I call the office again, get the manager this time. Explain the situation AGAIN. She sends a maintenance person over. Of course as soon as Juan arrives and I open the door, the alarm goes off again. He doesn't know the code either (*sheesh* why did they send him over anyway?) after a few minutes it stops, he starts trying to disconnect the alarm, hubby arives home, opens the door - alarm is going again! Juan finally breaks the alarm so it's all peace and quiet from then on. Although I do miss the door chime... but not enough to risk that shit again!

Gumbo Night

I made hubby's favorite - chicken and sausage gumbo last night - it was perfect. (I took a picture, will post later) there is none left today. Ahhhh....

Gumbo Night... Again????

Brother in law called today and wanted hubby to help him with the install of his new DSL, since we have had ours for a while, hubby agrees. We get invited over for dinner. Brother in law made me promise not to laugh at him, because he was making cajun food (because I've been making cajun forever and mine is damn good - he was nervous I'd be a bitch about his). When we get there we see that he's making Chicken and sausage gumbo. hehehehe... Mine is better. I need to teach him how to make a roux...

Shitty Little Car

That's what the marketing pitch should be for the Geo Metro. "Geo Metro... It's a shitty little car, but it's cheap. Buy one today." We got a rent car today because our busted-ass car won't be ready yet. Sheesh... We rented something cheap - so we got the Shitty Little Car. This is BY FAR the worst car I have ever driven. It sounds like 10 angry hampsters under the hood when you accelerate, the shocks... wait... what shocks?, the steering is VERY stiff (needs power steering fluid - hubby and I had a disagreement about - he said that it didn't have power steering - guess who was wrong? hehehe), but... the breaks are good. *sigh* it's only temporary.... Could be worse I suppose.

Wooohooo! Good News!

My sister called a bit ago, she just got the pathology reports on her husband. It's Stage 2 cancer and it was contained - has not spread to any other tissue! YAY! T will still have to have chemo, but it looks like the biggest part of it is over. He is still in the hospital in CICU (Cardiac Intensive Care Unit), and will probably stay there for at the very least until Monday - he's in a lot of pain, but it's finally manageable. Thank God!
3XThursday 3/13/2k3 : Shock Shock Therapy - Judy's Answers Thanks to Jake for the questions

1. So what do you do to cope with stress?
I try to do something that takes my mind off of what ever is stressing me. Reading, drawing, painting, crocheting, cooking, take a walk, exercise, just something that I enjoy and will distract me.

2. Have you ever just got close to snapping or suffered bad effects from stress?
Yes, the last 2 years have been extremely stressful. I have come close to snapping a couple of times. The 7 months prior to February were the worst, I had lots of bad effects from stress - insomnia, anxiety attacks, hair thinning, depression... Thank God for anti-anxiety medication.

3. So what are the great pressures in your life? I am not asking for a Freudian psychoanalysis so just go over the basics.
Finances, parenthood, relationships, family

Bonus for Comments: So do you think all this gizmos and Internet technologies are making our lives easier or harder? Why?
I think they make our lives eaiser. Having so much technology at our fingertips is great. Being able to shop from home (and not with a cataloge), comparison shop, look up information, converse with others... while in my own living room waiting for the microwave to finish warming my cup of tea from Timbuktu delivered the day before via over night delivery from some obscure company with a great web site, and hopeing I don't spill any on my nice silk pajamas that were a lovely present ordered from my favorite shop by my thoughtful husband while he was at work...there is no compairison. I love technology. Life is great.
West Nile Nearly Beaten

It seems that I have almost got this blasted West Nile Virus (cold) beaten. Copious amounts of Sudefed and Nyquill have done quit a bit to relieve my suffering and aid me in difficult tasks (such as breathing!). Today I'm feeling much better, that 12 hour Sudefed works wonders (and gives me a strange buzz). Hubby seems to have succumb to the powerful effects of the West Nile Virus (cold) and now is resting semi-comfortably in his sick bed... I say semi-comfortably because it's difficult to get much good rest with two children bothering you. Hubby is about to the severe whining stage, which makes me tempted to feign being much sicker than I truly am, just so I can avoid his whining. But... that would be cruel as he has been quite a dear and taken care of me quite nicely in my weakend state. *sigh* I'll take care of him. It's not that I hate doing it, it's just that he does whine like a wee baby when he's sick, making me feel a bit homicidal towards him. (*note to self... remember to take your anti-crazy pills).

Nyquil Dreams

The best thing about having a cold is taking Nyquil. I do love that stuff, it lulls me into a nice cozy state of sleep. the odd thing is that I have very bizarre, lucid dreams! Last night was a really whacky one... I won't get into the details for fear that someone might go all Freud on me and come up with something horrible in an analysis. I'm generally a light sleeper and I dream all the time, so I was thinking that with the Nyquil I'd sleep deeper and not wake much at night, nope... I still woke quite a few times. And it such a strange way, I'd wake up and be totally awake for a few moments - (I'd get more Nyquil if it was time and I was all stuffed up) then I'd be sleepy and go right back to sleep a few minutes later. And have more dreams, often continuing where the one I had awoken from left off. Hmmmm... I wonder if taking Nyquil when not sick is harmfull? hehehe... Just kidding.

Ladies Check This Out!!

I love this site! Adios Barbie celebrates women of EVERY size and shape and encourages women to love their bodies "through thick and thin". Check out the hysterical game 'Feed The Model'. Links for books and stuff (check out Vinnie's Tampon Cases!). The articles are great also, very well writen and thought provoking. Well worth a look or two.
A - hehehehe... your so funny, such a hippie at heart, but totally a realist. You were born in the wrong era. ;o)

L - I must get a ricer. I don't know what I'd use it for other than the potatoes, but it looks cool, it's a kitchen gadget and I want it. It looks like a giant garlic crusher.

I liked the little tidbit on your page about nutmeg. I was making oatmeal cookies and I couldn't remember if it was nutmeg or cloves, so I put them both in the cookies (along with cinnamon). Ya know what? I do have a sense of well-being. I don't know if it's the nutmeg or if it's just because I wanted a cookie and these are quite yummy. ;o) A should forget politics and have a cookie.

As for me, I'll stay far far from politics and other such nonesense - I'll stick with cooking. :o)

A- I'm glad someone from your family is going to help you weather the (what appears to be)torrential financial storm you are facing. It's always a blessing when family will help. My family is not like that (ask D) they will help - sometimes - but there are generally strings attached to anything act of 'generosity' that is imparted by them on you. Then they act as if even the tiniest thing they have done is absolutly monumental and deserving of constant thanks and acolades. *sheesh* it's really not worth it to ask for help from them. Half the time they will say no, and give some poor mouth reason, the other half they will say yes with conditions. My sister is not like that. which I am thankful for. yes we do fight, and we have fought a lot in the past year, but that is all water under the bridge now. We had 6 months of not talking to each other and dealing with our own issues and problems with no other help. Retrospectively, It is actually a good thing that it happend - she and I grew a great deal as people. But I digress. It sucks that we have no other family to count on. Right now my sister is going through so much and she really can't count on anyone else in the family, and I can't offer much more than a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen with. Anyway... A - you are lucky to have some family who cares for you and your kids.
Mashed Taters

L and A - with much shame I must admit I make my mashed potatoes from instant. I absolutly hate pealing potatoes. I have in the past made mashed potatoes with the peals on, but I don't think my hubby likes that all to much. And quite frankly I do like the taste of instant potatoes. It's about the only thing I make instant. Well mashed potatoes and instant brown gravy. I absolutly love that, it's complete heaven for me. Although, I don't eat mashed potatoes, or potatoes of any kind all that much - let me explain... my former step father insisted that we have potatoes with most every meal. He would not eat rice and would only allow pasta served once a week (in the form of spegetti and meat sauce or lasanga). So it was potatoes, mostly mashed potatoes. My sister and I were the slaves in the household so we were relegated to pealing potatoes to please his magesty's demands for mashed potatoes and gravy. *ick* So there in lies my dislike for pealing potatoes. I know it's really not that much work, but I hate to do it. I will do almost anything to get out of pealing potatoes. It's crazy I know. I don't mind taking all the extra steps to make a cake or loaf of bread from scratch or take hours to prepare an intricate and elaborate meal. But you can damn near guarantee that it will not include mashed potatoes and gravy from scratch. Viva La Instant Mashed Potatoes!
Gourmet Meals With The Little People

This evening we took the little people to the ever classy Dairy Queen for dinner (I needed to pick up my crazy pills and didn't feel like cooking - DQ is right near Eckerd). So we get to DQ and apparently everyone else in the neighborhood has had the same thought - 'DQ for dinner!'. I take a seat with the little people and hubby orders for us. First they want to play with the salt shaker, then the napkin holder, then they want to climb on the table (all of the above was nixed by mommy right away.), when hubby get's back to the table I tell him to go get ketchup with Super girl - I figured it would keep her busy for a few minutes so I could focus on keeping Cabbage Patch Baby off the table. they return with 4 little cups of ketchup and take a seat to wait for out number. All the while Super Girl has started saying "I'm hungry. I'm thirsty. I want my food." over and over and over. Cabbage patch is wanting to pour salt on the table again. Super girl and Cabbage Patch see the ketchup and of course want it, hubby says no, I say "let them have it - it's a vegetable after all." Hubby gets a smirk on his face then starts laughing. Kids eat ketchup like it's fine caviar and all is peaceful for a few minutes.
Tuesday, Sucky Tuesday

Well it hasn't been just horrid, but it's not been great. Here I sit with a nasty case of that blasted West Nile Virus (a cold). My misery is unending (the last couple of hours of feeling like my sinus were going to explode sucked), if not for the local Witch Doctor (hubby) who concocted a healing brew (TheraFlu) of reched taste (really it is) but powerful enough to induce a healing slumber (knocks me on my ass when taken with a shot of Nyquill). I'm just waiting for the blessed blackness of sleep to overtake my weakened condition and bring me a brief (4 to 6 hours.. not to exceed reccomended dosages per day) repreive from my suffering (constant drippy nose, dry cough and continual sneezing). I've overcome the past pathogens - Anthrax (strep throat), Eboli (horrible food poisioning) and Small Pox (last nasty cold I had), so I have faith that my imune system is strong (I have lots of medication to carry me through this) and I can weather this storm without a trip to the alchemist (doctor) for I fear the black magic she casts which brings excruciating pain before the healing (penicilin shots - hurts like hell). The cost is to great (I couldn't sit straight for 2 weeks!).

OK... enough melodrama... ;o)

Other things...

Something Else That Sucked Today

A couple of weeks ago I located a friend that I have not seen in about 4 years. He wanted to get together for lunch today. Sounds great. So hubby and I got the kids all polished and shined and got ready. Part way to meet our friend, the car stops accelerating... Just stopped. Like it wasn't getting any gas. Then it stopped all together. Shit. On the freeway. I had managed to get over to the break down lane. Hubby had to call his dad to come rescue us, and a tow truck to take the car to a service station. *sigh* so the car is in the shop. At least hubby has been laid off so he won't be missing any work. I will be missing some work though, tomorrow I was supposed to go in, but I had to call and get Evelyn to work for me. Luckily the hospital has been really slow as far as births so it's not been very busy. Actually it's a good thing that I'm not going in, being sick with a cold is not cool when you have to be handling babies. So we didn't get to have lunch with our friend. *sigh* and the car is in the shop *sigh*. Life will go on.

Something Else For Today...

My brother in law had surgery today, this is a part of what my sister sent to me:
Here are all of the pertinent facts:

1. The cancer was found to be much higher up in the colon that it was originally thought to be.
2. The tumor that was removed was about 4 inches long by 2 inches in diameter. (appx)
3. The tumor was diagnosed Preliminarily as Stage II. The results from the pathology lab (due in 3-5 days) could change that Stage to a Stage III, but at this time, we are not anticipating that.

T's tumor is a Modified Duke B1 or B2. We will know better when we get the pathology report from the lab.
Medical Terms:
Modified Duke B B1: tumor penetrates into, but not through the muscularis propria (the muscular layer) of the bowel wall.

B2: tumor penetrates into and through the muscularis propria of the bowel wall.

TNM Staging System (Tumor, Node, Metastisis) (How bad is it?)

Tumor

T1: Tumor invades submucosa.
T2: Tumor invades muscularis propria.
T3: Tumor invades through the muscularis propria into the subserosa, or into the pericolic or perirectal tissues.
T4: Tumor directly invades other organs or structures, and/or perforates.

At this point, we believe that the tumor is a T2.

It is not believed that the lymph nodes are involved, again, we will not know with any certainty until the pathology reports come back.

The doctor has led us to believe right now that although the cancer has spread to just past the colon, it has not metastasized (spread beyond the colon to other body parts). Again, sounding like a broken record, pathology reports will let us know what is going on.

The information above was retrieved from: http://www.oncologychannel.com/coloncancer/staging.shtml should you care to read further about colon cancer.

Because of where the cancer was located, the surgery was a lot more involved than what they were expecting it to be. The surgery was a lot more extensive.
T is in extreme pain and his pain is being reduced by the use of morphine. The morphine is not able to completely relieve the pain, so he is still in a great amount of pain.

Please, say a prayer for my sister and her husband. I belive he can beat this, but I know it's a hard road to travel and I know it will take a lot of strength on his part and on my sister's part.

Monday With The Sniffles

I'm coming down with a cold... which just sucks ass. I hate to be sick, especially with a cold that lingers on and on... And I'm all out of Nyquill.... time for an outing to secure important provisions! Today is my husband's first day of unemployment, he spent a couple of hours this morning looking online for work, and a friend we saw on Saturday (game night) told him about a job that is for part of a week, and is out of town, but it pays so what the hell. He' going to talk to Pete some more about the job. Luckily hubby get's a decent severage package and can collect unemployment. I'll be picking up extra days at work for a while which will help.

My boss is an imbecile. She called me last Thursday to get me to work at one of the hospitals I used to work at for Friday (not my favorite hospital to work either). So I said yes. then she asked if I could work this week at that hospital. I said not on Monday and Tuesday, I have to have time to clean my house and I'be working Wed-Fri at a different hospital. She said she would talk to someone about working for me on Wed so I could work at that hospital on Wed. OK, end of conversation. I get a call at 10:15 this morning asking me why I wasn't at that hospital. That I had said I would work M-W at that hospital. I said, no I said I couldn't work on Monday or Tuesday, I have to have time to clean my house, but said I would work Wednesday. So now she's pissed she has to find someone to cover that hospital. OH well. I couldn't be working today anyway with this cold. I can't work with babies while coughing, sneezing and with a runny nose. I'd freak if someone had come into my room to handle my baby who was obviously sick. Just need some medicine, I'll be right as rain.

Well I need to go clean up this pig sty I call home (Sheesh... why can't men clean house!!).

Past Lives...

My sister and I were discussing reincarnation and past lives yesterday. I do belive that

incomplete thought... to be finished later...
House Full Of Kids = Barrel Full Of Monkeys

Whew... busy me. I worked yesterday, not to long and the sales were not that great. *sigh* Hubby's last day of work was yesterday also, he and his work mates went to a bar after work and hung out for a while. Eh, what the hell, I'd want to drink copious amounts after getting laid off too (he only had 2 beers though).

My nephew is spending the weekend with us. I love him to death. My sister needs a break. He's 17 (and knows EVERYTHING) and he loves to push her buttons (on a regular, daily basis). With D's husband having colon cancer (not sure how bad it is or what stage or anything yet), him getting ready for surgery on Tuesday, his parents coming in for the surgery (they are there now), D needed some down time. Actually she needs a lot. I wish she and I could go do some fun things - flea market, oriental market, muesum, dumpster diving, anything really. (I really have to work right now, so my time is really limited.) I had a little talk with D's son, about how he needs to be less disrespectful to his mother, etc., etc. and how I didn't understand why he does it, he's never like that to me or my hubby. He said he knew. *sigh* Hate to say it, but the sooner he goes into the army the better. I'll miss him terribly, but D doesn't need the extra stress and it will be better for him to be away so he doesn't say something that he WILL regret later.

yesterday my nephew watched my kids while I worked, my sister called and asked him if he needed help - then just decided to come up and help. It was a good thing, Cabbage Patch baby had a poopy diaper and nephew was not sure what to do. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!

Anyway - It's wild around here right now, the girls love their cousin, it's cute to see him with them. he makes up songs for them while he plays the gutiar.

Waffling About Breakfast

I don't really do breakfast. I used to... but nothing fancy, just cereal with a bananna and milk. I don't do that anymore, somthing about throwing that up while pregnant turned me off to that. Sometimes I'll eat cereal, but not often. Oatmeal, I like oatmeal, but only the way I cook it and with butter and honey or brown sugar. I'm not really big on breakfast foods - donuts are ok, but I don't really want them more than once or twice a year... and I really like them more for a snack than for breakfast. I do like eggs, just scrambled and hard boiled and the occasional omlet. I don't really like sweet pasteries or pop tarts much, and I don't like fruit all that much either - mellons are gross, oranges are too acidic, banannas only occasionally, berries are fine, but hard to get good ones at the store... anyway... I do like waffles. No, no, no... I LOVE waffles. My kids love waffles also. So I have no problems with making waffles for them most days. I have a waffle iron and a favorite recipe. I love to make waffles. And I LOVE to eat them. My favorite is a nice hot waffle with lots of butter and just a touch of syrup or honey - not much syrup though, even no syrup just butter. mmmmm... love them. Anyway my oldest wanted waffles this morning, but I gave up extra carbs for lent... so I knew I could NOT make waffles and only eat one. Hmmm... what to do... so I convince her that pancakes are a good alternative - and I put raisins in them - I don't like cooked raisins - so I wouldn't eat them. The funny thing is, the pancake recipe is almost the same as the waffle recipe, but the kids didn't eat as much of them. Waffles, they always finish completly, but these pancakes, they only ate half of (but Dusty, hubby's cat loved them). hehehehe... funny thing is that I don't like pancakes as much as waffles. maybe it's genetic.
3XThursday 3/6/2k3 - Judy's Answers : The First Rule of Book Club (Questions by Jake)

1. What is the last book you read? What did you think about it?
The last book I read was Desperation by Stephen King, a very good book, it was kind of a companion book to The Regulators (which was pretty good, but not as good as Desperation). I had not read a Stephen King novel in years so I was a bit surprised that I was picking up one to read.

2. What were the last three books that you bought? I have a $20 gift check to BN.com. What should I get?
Last three that I bought... Hubby and I buy a lot of books, we are both nerds, so I'll try to remember... also we switched to checking books out from the library about 5 or 6 months ago to cut down on book buying costs. OK, the last three books - The Hobbit, Feng Shui New Perspectives and a book on tarot. what would I recommend? Well I really love a good true crime novel so I'd recommend that, or maybe recommend a classic Sci fi novel - something by Heinlein, nothing to heavy, maybe The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress - great political commentary.

3. Have you ever read any books that changed your life?
Yes many books have. Stephen King's Dead Zone and Cujo made me afraid of closets. Heinlein's little known, Podkane of Mars helped me find courage to be more outgoing. There are many others, I find a really good book touches me and changes my perspective on things sometimes in only a small way, sometimes in a big way. I read so much, books, magazines, online news stories... I learn something from everything I read.

Bonus Question for Comments: Do you think it is wrong to pirate books, video games and music that is no longer being printed or pressed?
Hmmm... I'm kind of mixed on that. I do think that pirating books, games and music is wrong, but if the particular item is out of print then, I don't know. ...

Writings Of The Intelectual Swine

Sir Lee's Blog, is one of the other barn yard animals blogging. Way to funny. The pig is British. hehehehe... gotta love it.
Blogging Cows...

I saw this on someone else's page. I had to write about this since I have a great affection for cows and cow things (hence my enormous cow and cow thing collection). Raging Cow Blog apparently this is some advertising thing for Dr. Pepper's new drink - some flavored milk thing. I don't care, I love the cow. This is funny. A cow with a blog. HAHAHAHAHA! I guess the funniest thing is that someone came up with this idea for a traveling cow who blogs about her travels, and a bunch of ad execs ok this. Can you imaging trying to pitch that idea? It's insane and ironic... I ironic because someone got PAID to think up this for an ad campaign! I have to wonder what the guy who thought this up was thinking - I mean was he serious or was he like "Well damn I don't have shit, been up all freaking night long, can't come up with shit, OK, I'll just suggest a traveling cow with her blog... they might fire me but at least I'll get a laugh on the way out." Insane. Someone has put so much work into the cow's blog - why can't I be paid to write crap like that! Why? Why? Why?!!!!
A - I think L and your mom and your brother are right, you should stop obsessing about the light. You have enough going on in your life right now, you don't need to be worried about a possible intruder or a ghost (I vote ghost). L and your brother may be right, you might have just imagined/dreamed the whole thing. I know that there have been times when I was deeply stressed that I would have very vivid realistic dreams that left me wondering if things really did happen. Take a deep breath, have some herbal tea, think of something nice and wonderful, close your eyes and relax for a few minutes. Call me if you need to.

Lent

So today is Ash Wednesday, the beggining of the season of Lent. I decided to give up bread, pasta and junk food for Lent. I've been meaning to do this, but have just kept making excuses. And I need to do this, I've gained 12 lbs since Christmas. Damn. I figure I can manage to abstain from bread, pasta and junk food for 40 days. Our pastor once explained giving up something you like a lot for Lent as a reminder of what Jesus gave up for us. Bread, pasta and junk food don't even come close to what Jesus gave up for me, but everytime I really want a roll or a big bowl of pasta and a coke, I'll be able to say "No, this is the least I can do since Christ died for me." I know, sounds sappy but it makes sense to me.
BOW TO MY POWER!

That's what my 4 year old was saying. Standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom - Growling it out. She was supposed to be napping, but I heard her upstairs saying that. I couldn't walk up the stairs to tell her to go back to bed, I was laughing too hard.

Kids are funny.

Breaking NEWS!!!

OMG! OMG! OMG! Today Sponge is BACK on the market!! WOOHOOO! That is my FAVORITE contraseptive! Today Sponge Story
A - I think I'd rather think it was a ghost who turned off the lights or that I'd been suffering from some delusional state and just dreamed the light was on, rather than think it was some intruder who turned on or off the light or what ever reason (honestly it's not likely it was an intruder fooling with the lights).
Cool Geekie Things...

I figured since my snail was found and he was kind enough to come out and socialize or a bit, I would check on the internet for what snails eat. A few pages say they eat vegetables - leaves of lettuce. so I go get him a little salad and put him on it. He came out, and is eating now! I wonder if he'd like some salad dressing next time. ;o)
Missing Pet Found On Ledge!

Well about a month or so ago, one of my pets went missing. I have had a low level search for him in the time he's been gone - although I haven't mentioned it, I have been very worried about the whereabouts of Bob The Snail. But today while cleaning the kitchen, I found Bob behind the faucet. I returned him to his home in the plant. then in an uncharacteristic social display, he slimed around on my hand - this is a first, he generally hides in his shell. the little people were fasicinated that he was out. hehehehe.... they were cute. Pictures later.

Reason To Celebrate?

I have been a fish owner for ONE year today. My One Year Fishie Anniversary. I just realized it the other day, going through some old e-mails (I was looking for something) and I saw one where I was bitching about the sound of the air filter thingie on the tank. Out of 3 fish, I still have one goldfish. Amazing. I didn't expect to still be a fish owner 4 months after buying them! Spike killed his tank mates, I think he was more determined to live.... or just evil and won't die. Last night we went over to hubby's brother's house. I saw my next fish. brother in law has a big big tank and he has this big fish that bullies the other fish out of the right side of the tank. I am going to get my sisters old fish tank (all her fish perished a while back) and take custody of the big bully fish... and we'll see who takes dominance in the tank... Spike or Butch (that's what I'll call the big bully fish). I'll have an Extreme Fish Tank! They'll battle for dominance until only one can be alpha fish. I can't wait. hehehehehe... I know, I need help.
Which Bunny Am I?

kiss my ass2
congratulations. you are the kiss my ass happy
bunny. You don't care about anyone or anything.
You must be so proud

which happy bunny are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

hehehehe... seems appropriate. ;o)
OK, Can I Whine For a Moment?

Well, yeah of course I can, this is my weblog. So here goes.

I work all weekend, I go in at 8 am and I get off when I'm done with my work, not at any set time. So Saturday I go in at 8 am and I get off at 5:30 pm. I know, doesn't sound too bad. Let me explain my day. I go to my first hospital, I go from room to room pushing my big ole' photo cart to take the baby pictures in. When I finish there, I go to the next hospital and do it all over again, and IF there is time I go to the third hospital on my way home. It's a lot of fun and it's a very busy job. AND I don't sit down the whole time I'm there. I walk from room to room pushing my cart, I stand while I take baby pictures and make sales, I don't get to sit and I don't get breaks or a lunch hour - I don't mind, I work commision so if I'm working, I'm making money and if I keep moving I don't have a chance to get bored. It doesn't sound like much, but at the end of the day I'm tired, physically tired. The last thing I want to do is come home to make dinner or clean house. Hubby usually makes dinner (frozen pizza many times. hehehehe) but the house cleaning... well that doesn't happen. So by Monday morning the house is a mess, he's off to work and I get to spend the whole morning getting the house cleaned - and this wonderful morning I got to spend 30 minutes cleaning food spill marks off the carpet. *sigh* He damn well better find a full time job quick or I may commit murder..... grrr....

Ok, all done whineing... have this craving for cheese now... wonder why... ;o)
Roccia Intitolata Di Movies! Subtitled Movies Rock!

Super girl started flipping the channels on the television a few minutes ago, looking for other cartoons to watch *sheesh* she has decided she wants instead to watch a very over acted Italian (I think) subtitled movie - she can't even read! it's an old black and white movie - I think Anthony Quinn is it it. hehehehe... silly girl.
Pheromones

I must be giving off powerful peheromones. Within the past week I've had several guys from my past call me to get together. *sigh* This would be cool if I really wanted to get with any of them... but... theres a reason they are in my 'past'. Mostly because they are lame in bed... or I just can't stand to be around them! hehehehe... I know that makes me sound really shallow.... But most are unsuitable for 'relationships' and a girl's got needs, not all of them can be reached with something battery powered... so I have my booty-call boys. I know, I know, 'shallow, lame, slutty', well when I meet someone worth having a relationship with, I'll stop all this... and really it's not like I have a new guy for every night, I have one person I see rather infrequently - it's just for booty-calls though. Anyway, most of these guys who are calling, I haven't heard from in like a year or so. And I wasn't really missing them... One of them is so bad in bed, I would fake an orgasm just to get him to get it over with. No no that's a lie... most of them I would just fake it get it over with. Not all of them... and not all the time... it sucks when it's really good to start with, then the next time it's just ok, and the next time your thinking "Shit, get it over with so I can get home to my vibrator." Then you just start making excuses when they call. I mean I am always willing to give a guy a second chance, but when a guy doesn't even try to make it happen for you... well that just sucks. Anyway... they are calling... and I wish they wouldn't.... *sigh* I need a new boyfriend...

Busy Weekend

I have been busting ass at work - which is good. I need the money. After hubby get's laid off this Friday, I'll be picking up more hours at work until he gets a job. I'll miss being with my kids, but having a job I love so much will make it a little better. I'll hate having to come home and clean house - hubby is a slob and not very good at keeping the little people from making huge messes. *sigh* Gotta do what you gotta do though.

Military Thoughts
I just got word that my cousin has been activated and will report for duty March 11th. *sigh* The good thing is that he will most likely stay stateside - he does training.

A friend from another weblog is probably going to be activated very soon also.

Everyone, keep our troops in your thoughts and prayers (regardless of your stand on the politics).

Strength and Resolve
I've been thinking about my sister a lot today. I'm in awe of how she is handle the is situation with her husband. Not that I'm surprised that she's not hysterical, but because I know she's such a strong willed individual that she CAN handle this. Our family for some fucked up reason doesn't give her the credit she deserves. She handles these situations better than most people. Definitly better than I do. When our mother was diagnosed with cancer, I fell apart, eventhough I KNEW she had it - I was in shock that it had spread so much. D, took it very stoicly, listened carefully, asked questions. She comforted me. She pushed mom into looking for treatment options. She was a driving force. For some reason our disfunctional family acts like D falls apart when any medical crisis happens like that. She doesn't, she never has, doubt she ever will. That's me. I do get very emotional when first faced with something like a possible terminal illness... I guess it's my sense of helplessness. I'm great in an actual crisis that needs imediate attention, just not so good in the other. Right now I feel very helpless knowing that there really is not anything for me to do but pray.

D- you amaze me with your strength. Don't forget that I'm here for you... for whatever you need.
